Except for the fact that Abby, Cleary and Bertuzzi played top 6 with a healthy team, but somehow Legwand cant. Interesting.

So much can happen in the future, no one knows. It's silly to try and think of what this organization will be in 5-7 years. You don't play for the Stanley Cup in the future, you play for it now. If this team is 100% healthy, we have a great team. As someone posted the lineup earlier, that is some insane depth and talent. When we get injured next year (by when I mean when), we won't have to worry about Anderson playing 1st line anymore either.

I agree, and I am not completely sold on the deal myself. However, some are acting like we just traded Zetterberg for Legwand. Until Jarnkrok plays a #1 center roll, and produces at the NHL level I don't know why people are so upset. He is a legit player, and can hold down the 2nd line when D and Z are back or even move to the 3rd. Wings will most likely be injured again next year, and it will be nice to have him to cover.

Yet Jarnkrok was already elite? Jeez, give him Crosby money already! What if we draft a great potential #1 center with this years draft pick (which is exactly what Jarnkrok was).

He is exactly that until he proves anything. Guess there's no such thing as free agency and draft either, the Wings are doomed without a young center. People will forget about this in a couple months. Same thing happened when Pittsburgh traded Morrow away, now they don't even care. It could have been worse, like trading Tatar, Jurco, or Nyquist for something that wouldn't help us either. I wanted Vanek alot, but we don't need wingers and he wouldn't sign here again it's pretty obvious he's going to Minny if they don't lock up Moulson.

This. Legwand currently has the 2nd most points on the Wings, and I know the injuries doesn't help with that but he's a good player. Also 30 points in 47 Playoff games isn't too bad either.

He also said that when Datsyuk was day to day and Helm was not injured. If Weiss cannot allow us to play D and Z together, Legwand will while providing us with good defense and offense.

All doom and gloom around here. I think Legwand can be a 50-65 point guy for Detroit, while playing a good two way game. Helm cannot be relied upon anymore it seems so this deal makes sense if he signs another contract with us.

It takes two to tango. Gillis will want too much for Edler, just like he did Luongo. Buffalo will want too much for Ehrhoff knowing they will be facing him for years to come in the same division, not to mention they want young, talented players (Nyquist, Tatar, Jurco) and draft picks. If what I am hearing from Sportsnet about Datsyuk missing quite a bit of time it would not be wise to trade those kids for anything. Let the kids play, let's see what they can do. They have played amazing the past two games and are obviously up for the challenge to keep the streak alive. I leave you with a quote from Tatar after the Olympics.

I agree with this. Would love Ehrhoff, but Buffalo trading within the same division it's going to cost quite a bit.
