  1. I agrree, plus it applies a little pressure on Mikey Mo to make a decision, now that several signings are affected by his signing or not signing. i.e. Lilja, Helm, Just An Aggitator, Even (gag) Maltby.
  2. Kind of sounds like Detroit or retire. Hear the interview here. http://khtk.cbslocal.com/2010/07/15/mike-modano-with-grant-mike/
  3. Just a rumor and consider the source (not reliable), but I thought I would throw it in for comment. "According to Andy Strickland of HockeyBuzz, a source close to Mike Modano says he has narrowed his choices for next year to San Jose, Chicago and Minnesota. " From his blog.
  4. So far for the 2010-2011 he is making $0.
  5. This should make things clearer, as to what Ken Holland is thinking. http://blog.mlive.com/snapshots/2010/07/waddell_red_wings_gm_ken_holla_1.html
  6. I agree with the two week period. It would be nice if Mike Modano would let Detroit know before two weeks end. I can wait another week. After that though, if desired, Detroit could pursue other players. http://www.nhlpa.com/Players/2951/Vyacheslav-Kozlov He's younger than Modano. A perennial 20+ goal scorer. He knows the Detroit system well.
  7. This just in: The KHL and Dallas Stars are now in the hunt for Mike Modano (just because everyone else is). Mike says he could see himself fitting i well, with everyone. LOL!!!!
  8. He would have "20+ new friends" regardless of where he signed! I think he is torn between what benefits his wife, his parents, and Mike! His wife will, hopefully be with him a long time. His parents, who knows. I really think he does not know the amount of desire that Red Wings fans have to sign in Detroit. I have been waiting for it for over 10 years.
  9. My 2 cents: He may still sign with Detroit, but is loving the fact, and self promoting the fact, that Dallas "dissed" him and he is valued by other teams. Notice that no other teams were interested in him until Detroit was. So its one of 3 things: 1. He wants to sign with Detroit and wants to drive up the offer price (rumored at 1 to 1.5 million, one or two years). 2. He wanted to sign with Detroit, until other West coast teams were interested, which is where his WIFE wants him to sign, and he is using Detroit and other teams as a tool to drive up the price, so he can sign on the West coast. 3. He simply does not know what he wants. Money, or a shot at the cup. A 3rd line center with 2nd line PP, and possibility move up in lines (Detroit), or take more money regardless of team, or Make WIFEY happy at all costs, even over his parents!!!
  10. All from local news papers (on the web), except the last paragraph, which is from Andy Strickland of Hockeybuzz.
  11. Still think he signs with Detroit. What is up with this guy? Compilation of his quotes and interactions below: Chicago: "Patty is an energetic kid and a phenomenally gifted player," Modano said. "It'd be fun to play with him." "I'd like to see what kind of wiggle room they have left under the salary cap, if they can fill that third- or fourth-line void and see how I would fit in with those guys," Modano said Detroit: "There isn't any other team," said Modano, standing outside Tigers and Red Wings owner Mike Ilitch's suite at Comerica Park Tuesday night. "It will be here or I'm not playing. I think it's narrowed to that." "If I could get it here, it's probably a given with the talent and the type of team they have. To be able to go out winning another Stanley Cup, that would be phenomenal." Minnesota: "It would be a fun storyline," Modano said. Modano said Minnesota may want to meet face-to-face with him soon, but no date has been set. San Jose: The 40-year-old forward said Friday that the San Jose Sharks and Minnesota Wild have contacted him about the possibility of playing next season. Detroit -- So on Friday, Mike Modano apparently told the Dallas Morning News he would listen to recruiting pitches from San Jose and Minnesota, and that talk that his only options were to play for the Red Wings or retire was wrong. Phoenix, Washington, St. Louis, LA: Modano is keeping a close eye on teams like the Los Angeles Kings and possibly even the Phoenix Coyotes to see what moves they might make to create an opening. Those close to Modano believe Detroit would be a great fit for him to play a puck possession style that suits his game and where he’d have a chance to win. Other teams have expressed interest in Modano as well including Washington and St. Louis who contacted Modano directly. And so it goes on and on and on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. This too: "Modano is keeping a close eye on teams like the Los Angeles Kings and possibly even the Phoenix Coyotes to see what moves they might make to create an opening" hockeybuzz.com. I know, Eklund!
  13. And now this: St. Louis & Washington http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Andy-Strickland/HuetModanoKovalchuk-Erik-JohnsonRink-RatsBlu8230/5/29287
  14. FYI: ESPN has a slightly different take. Read the 3rd paragraph http://sports.espn.go.com/dallas/nhl/news/story?id=5359490
