Well deserved. Congrats Stevie Y. -

This one?

That's what I was thinking. If the oilers offer him a big contact, I don't think they match it.
-
Correct me if I'm wrong but after 7.3 mill, I believe it becomes 2 firsts, a second, and a third. It sounds like Boston would consider not matching the offer sheet if it were above 7.3 mill per season. http://www.csnne.com/boston-bruins/offer-sheets-remain-very-real-threat-hamilton
-
In other news, beleskey is heading to free agency after "immediately rejecting" the ducks latest offer.. of 4 years $16 mill. He's either going to end up vastly overpaid or disappointed
-
Wasn't sure where to put this or if it's been mentioned elsewhere on this site but the leafs signed Hyman to a 2 year entry level contact. http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2015/06/23/leafs-ink-zach-hyman-to-a-two-year-entry-level-deal/
-
Pretty much what I was thinking too. I have a feeling he doesn't get moved tbh
-
I don't think we have that to worry about.. if there's one thing the wings organization is good at, it's patience with development.
-
Todd Gill?

Anyone is physical to wings fans No really though, it's probably because of his hit total.. which was 177 this past season & he led all d men the year before with 282. The closest wings d man last year was actually ericsson, with 114. I'm not trying to advocate that hits are the only thing to playing a physical game but they do give you some kind of indication as to how physical a player is.

What top three guy is there top trade for though? I've heard rumors (probably more speculation than anything) that the avs may trade duchene if they can't trade ROR.. Which would be incredible but also cost a fortune. Maybe t.j. sochi? But would he be considered "top 3?" I just don't see any big trades happening.. I think KH saying he'd be willing to part with our 1st/Mantha was just a way to see if there were any potential trade partners out there. I expect the off season will just consist of trading back in the first (although I don't think we should if kylington is available at 19) & promoting within.
-
Yup, agreed. And with blashill now, that seems likely imo.
-
Just don't be disappointed when we don't sign or trade for anyone..
-
I think I read somewhere that they want a top six winger.. which didn't make sense to me. Maybe they go for a different style player and there's a trade involving lucic or maybe they want an older vet and go for Sharp..? Although I don't know how much cap Chicago can take the other way or if they'd want him considering he'd leave when his contract is up.

Players who might be available due to teams cap issues
amato replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
They already have a pretty good group of d men though.. just because he wasn't a fit there doesn't mean he isn't that great. That said, I wouldn't want to give up mantha, 1st, + for a guy with one year on contract either unless there were a guarantee he'd re-sign long term. Which, obviously, is far from guaranteed. -
Unless it's the leafs' desires to not retain salary. I think if they intend to not retain salary in either a Phaneuf or Kessel trade, they're going to have a tough time trading either of them. Kessel might be easier though.. his only problem is the modified ntc.

According to Elliott Friedman, Detroit and San Jose are the other two teams looking to add Hyman if he hits free agency. Gotta think us having Larkin is a pretty big bargaining chip, assuming they at least had a decent relationship at Michigan.

This article was great. Thanks for sharing!

From what I've read it seems to be a combination of his injury, the draft being so deep, and reports that he's not sound defensively. He's supposedly one of the highest skilled defensemen in the draft but mostly on the offensive side of the puck.. I think the wings' development style and over ripening could be exactly what he needs to be sound on both sides of the puck. That being said, I also would not be opposed to trading back and getting an extra pick in the top 60 either. Should be an exciting draft.
-
My research of the draft prospects is pretty minimal until recently to be honest, but I've been reading about kylington a little more. I don't think he'll fall to the second, that's a bit of a stretch. I hope the wings draft him at 19 if he's still available, honestly. Or he'd at least be one of the players I'd have on my radar if I were Kenny anyway.. I think he'd end up being a steal there.
-
I thought I read somewhere that some mock drafts had him falling as low as the second round.. that's pretty much all I was going off of ha
-
That's a good point about beleskey, I forgot they're probably losing him. They'd likely want an nhl ready winger then I'd think. And I was thinking someone like Kylington as well, assuming we were going to move back in the first round.
-
Hahaha okay I was confused for a second.. didn't think what I proposed was outrageous or anything. Cheers!
-
I just haven't heard much of trvdon or nosek to be honest... I guess they're better than I think? I suppose the 4th is a little much assuming they want to move up in the draft. A roster d man would be good for us to move in a possible deal for wiz but the whole reason they'd get rid of him is because they have plenty of capable roster d men right?
