Would definitely not be opposed to drafting greenway. his final north American rank is 47th too (according to nhl.com). Seems like he has steal potential in the late second or early third. Can't help but wonder what moved him back though..? his mid season ranking was 22nd in NA.

Looks like Ward could be heading to free agency based on MacLellan's comments.... The few games I watched, I though Ward looked great on the top line with those two guys. The caps do have a decent amount of cap space but a lot of free agents to sign.. so it doesn't look like they'll keep him. I just don't think the wings were willing to part with what Vancouver wanted..? I don't think it was Kesler behind it. Now, if he hits free agency and Holland offers him a competitive contract and he goes elsewhere, then I'd agree. But he's the kind of center the wings like to have. That'd be a great signing.

I agree with the no short term deal BS.. just seems like he's waiting for a Montreal or Pittsburgh or something to open up at this point. I'm not saying blashill is the answer for sure (though he very well could be) but this year is probably the best head coaching free agency we'll see. And every team wants long term stability.. The Toronto media probably just printed that so that even though they lost out on Babcock, they can guess the most obvious of his choices "first" & feel good about themselves at least a little bit

If Babcock did initiate San Jose talks, I'd guess that it has something to do with his wife wanting to live in california again.. maybe he told her he'd at least see if there were any interest. I'm also seeing that Babs expects his decision to come mid-week; probably wednesday.
