I agree. I'd expect that cap hit on a shorter term.. he'll probably be worth it for at least the first few years and definitely would've got a similar contract from someone in free agency so I don't really agree with it but it's not completely surprising I guess....

Ah I forgot about that. I feel like a leg injury is tougher to come back from.. at least athanasiou could keep his legs in shape a little. But yeah, who knows.

I don't think so. Manthas size will be huge for the wings.. I'd maybe put them at about the same level but Mantha also started a couple months behind because of his leg so it's hard to say, imo. I think next season will be a good indicator of where Mantha is. Either way, it seems like they both have a potentially bright future in Detroit. Tons of upside to both of them.

aboslutely beautiful. Keith is one of the few players on a rival team to the wings that I like.... and this makes him so much better. good for him and good for the blackhawks for having this "what's your goal" program.

On the lighter side of things.. Mike Green found an old discontinued stealth like he used to use and loves it. He is now on a quest to find as many as possible so he doesn't have to switch back to new sticks again that are "heavier and less flexible." I thought this article was funny, so I figured I'd share. We could get as many fans as possible to go out and find them.. showing him how great the fans are here. Maybe he'll take a discount if we get a few seasons worth of old stealths -
Pulkkinen is at that spot where he's too good for the ahl and not quite ready to face the nhls top competition, like he would be in the top six role he's projected for. I think next season we should start with three scoring lines and pulk will be on the third line. That seems ideal at this point, imo.
