Other than the attitude problems, it makes sense for buffalo to not care that Kanes injured to trade for him.. that'll probably make acquiring him slightly cheaper and they don't need him (and honestly probably don't want him) to play this season. I highly doubt going to a bottom dweller helps change his attitude though....

I think it basically means it's for nothing.. down the line say Tampa wants to acquire one of the sharks players; San Jose might be a little more lenient in negotiations than they would've been since the lightning let them acquire/retire one of their past good players for nothing.

I'd trade Mantha/a D prospect of the Yotes choice/1st round pick for OEL but I don't think the yotes take it. Add in another first rounder and good prospect and they might but I don't know if I would. I think anything oel goes for until he's a pending ufa (if he doesn't want to stay there) is going to be more than I'd want the wings to pay.
