My thoughts exactly. And as far as the trade goes, it's probably not far off from what they'd want (and deserve) for him. Though id be upset to lose nyq, and I think it should include 2 f & 1 d instead of the opposite, I think I'd go for it. It would be worth it/make an immediate impact and the wings prospect pool is so deep that they'll lose several prospects within the next few years or so, one way or another anyway.

while he might not necesarily be available right now, I do remember weber wanting a NTC/NMC or whatever (back when the prednecks matched the offer sheet) and they didn't give him one (here's his contract: http://capgeek.com/player/1042) implying that he could potentially be available in the near future.. it'd be interesting to see what happened if he got put on the trade block.

True. Which is why I expect Abby to start on the top line.. Which I wouldn't mind but if mule could fix his fortitude problem, he'd best benefit the team from in front of the net with pav and z

in an nhl.com 30 in 30 article (http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=680048) they say that they think the second line will be alfie-weiss-nyq.. not sure how i feel about it yet as far as comparing it to other lineup options goes but that would more than likely land mule on the third line. and for a guy who only plays as good as the people around him (imo), idk if the third line is the best spot for him.. then again, combined with tatar and helms speed, he might do good there.

i wouldn't be surprised. and i'm sure they'll recover (teamwise).... yeah, kovy's a great offensive player but the devils have one of the best goalie tandems in the league and have some pretty good younger talent imo

agreed. they're probably extremely happy to lose that god awful contract in the long run. if they manage to make the playoffs this year, i'm sure they won't be upset about losing kovy at all.

i'd say helm is at least as much of an "x-factor" as jimmy williams.. helm being healthy and back to playing how he used to would be a huge plus.
