Zadina and Ras have averaged what like 12-15 min per game with lower lines? I'll reserve judgment for at least another season, if not two. Most prospects aren't difference makers right away, even in the top ten.

here's a pretty cool graph for the draft. Someone on reddit (u/Tylemaker) simulated the draft 1 million times using 17 different rankings. All it basically proved is what we already know: past 1 and 2 is wide open... pretty cool idea though.

they'd be dumb not to hold onto him... so i'd say it's about 50/50 that they do but if we're talking Trouba pipe dream replacement. he's my candidate

I don't know about that. If ALL he wanted was a long term deal, maybe. But with potentially only two options (one of which may not have even wanted him), it's no surprise that the return was low. There were reports of higher offers than what they got from NYR. Then again, why even trade him then if he's RFA.. get him his one year deal and trade at the deadline or just send him somewhere else. Maybe the better offers would've pulled if they knew he wouldn't sign.. Maybe the Jets were just sick of the whole situation. Who knows.... seems like a weird situation. Obviously, I also hope he hits free agency. But it feels unlikely at this point.

Makes sense. I guess I'd say Hagelin + Gudas > Niskanen at this point, if that's what it took to keep Hagelin. I'm not the biggest Gudas fan, but Hagelin has been much better for the caps than anywhere else he was recently. It will be interesting to see how Gudas and Wilson are on the same team

YES PLEASE. (especially to the bolded players) I would happily take on either player's cap hit if we got one of these prospects. Also, it's not like they're bad players.. their contracts are just bad. We have the time and cap space to eat those for a couple years here if it helps our future out... especially on defense. I'd be 100% for it.

Wouldn't mind Meyers on a 2-3 year deal if we can get rid of Daley and if Kronwall retires. I also think Yzerman should at least touch base with Nyquist and Duchene. Although I'm sure they both want more years than we'd be comfortable with at this point. Other than that, Simmonds for a year or two would be awesome if we could trade a veteran forward.
