Half Season Predictions 2013

    <blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="Euro_Twins" data-cid="2340694" data-time="1358367571">

Yes, he would have to play a minimum 25 games (not sure if it's less for a 48 game season) or 6 games in two consecutive seasons. Smith has done neither, Smith for Calder!!

Smith for Calder sounds good to me! Haha thanks

    Half Season Predictions 2013

    <blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="toby91_ca" data-cid="2340645" data-time="1358363547">
He's not eligible....too old.

Would smith be eligible? Not sure how that works, since he wasn't up much last year, is this year still considered his rookie season?
  3. Wow now he really better perform.. I always thought he was good and had potential but not 5.75 mill a year good. Edit: not yet anyway

    Half Season Predictions 2013

    1. wings/blues 2. wings/blues 3. hawks 4. prednecks 5. jackets i think without suter, tootoo, and the other couple players that nashville lost, they drop a lot of close games. granted rinne is good and can keep them in games, he can only do so much.. hawks could finish higher too but crawford is a big question mark IMO. sure the wings could flop but i just don't see it happening. i think we have the right guys in place to be a solid team and finish 3rd-5th this half season. we have a lot of forwards who are going to be fighting for spots and fighting to keep their spots and i think that keeps the squad motivated to perform at their best. the bottom 6 has the potential to be one of the best in the league and that's a lot more important than many people think. forward depth will slightly make up for a shallow defense but the D needs to step up and i think they will.

    Half Season Predictions 2013

    puck daddy had a pretty funny prediction.. 15. Jiri Hudler and Dennis Wideman will both make a real strong case for "Dumbest Jay Feaster signing of the summer." Hudler wins by a slim margin. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/learned-20-bold-predictions-2013-nhl-season-131458612--nhl.html

    Regular Season Record Predictions!

    i'd agree that 62 points would be better than 7/8 seed as well.. not only is 106 points typically better than 7/8 (would have gotten us 4th last year), you also have to consider that all the games played are within the western conference too, making every point worth more in regards to the standings.

Don't know the exact numbers but they can't be all that great.

Hopefully that does mean Filp is getting better. If hank struggles, he can switch with Pav too.. That's one big benefit to them being on the same line.

    Wings Looking For Defenseman

    <blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="up2here" data-cid="2340303" data-time="1358282669">
Lets play some games before we go too crazy. Maybe Kronwall and Ericsson step their game up, maybe the loss of Lidstrom forces the entire team to focus more on defense.

As for the potential new rules for buyouts this year. I dont see any benefit to the teams buying the contracts out this season. They may as well keep them home and under contract in case disaster hits and they actually need them.

The only way I'd see players getting bought out this year is if they asked their teams to do it now rather than wait.. If the team wants to be respectful to their player, they'd do it.

    Visnovsky files NHLPA grievance to void NYI trade

    <blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="evilzyme" data-cid="2340284" data-time="1358278350">
The KHL isn't allowing vis to play anymore until things get resolved with NYI

Source?
  10. <blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="Greatness=PavelDatsyuk" data-cid="2340231" data-time="1358268680">
Yeah, and hopefully Gus will shine enough that we can split the workload between the two.

I'm excited for monster. He was who I hoped we were going to sign to back up jimmy and I was stoked when we did. But, in all honesty, I think both him and jimmy are going to be a little rusty in the red and white game.. Hopefully I'm wrong.

    Samuelsson has sore groin; day to day

    <blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="metalkorn" data-cid="2340068" data-time="1358195617">
Iginila has the same thing, it's a bigger loss to them then samuelsson would be to us though.

At least they still have huds!!

    Wings Looking For Defenseman

    Larsson would be my choice. Likely have to give up too much though.

    Mark Fistric traded to the Oilers

    I like Edmonton too.. Love the squad they're building there but I don't think they'll make the playoffs this year let alone win it all. I do however expect them to climb from the depths of the standings to maybe 10th-ish place which would be pretty good progress for them. Give em a few years and they'll be contenders if they play their cards right.

    The Power Play

Mostly because of his hands and also if he can take a beating game in and game out (I think he can)

    The Power Play

    <blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="robb himself" data-cid="2340039" data-time="1358191075">
Yeah you are definitely right. Franzen would look much better on the 1st unit as a net presence. Good call. Bertuzzi could do the same thing on the 2nd unit.

Thanks. That's what I was thinking Bert would do on the second unit as well.

    The Power Play

    <blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="robb himself" data-cid="2340031" data-time="1358189945">
I just watched a video from camp posted by ‏@Bill_Roose (The Wheel Deal ) showing Brunner playing the left point with Kronwall on the 1st power play unit.

With that in mind what do you think our 2 units should look like?

I think I would do this.

PP #1
Samuelsson - Zetterberg - Datsyuk

Brunner - Kronwall

PP #2
Bertuzzi - Filppula - Franzen

White - Quincey/Smith

thoughts?

I like it but I think I would switch mule and Sammy.. And I'm pretty sure the wings will play mule-D-Z and have mule play in front of the net like holmer used to.

    Eaves Cleared for Contact

    Was just about to post that article. Glad to see a few injuries starting to clear up. Especially glad helm should be back real soon.. Also, I thought it was funny that he makes fun of Bert for having a sore back all the time

    Wings give Mike Knuble a tryout

    Just because he's getting a try out doesn't mean he's getting on the team.... Maybe he's there to push our guys trying to make it into the lineup to play better. And if knuble happens to outplay them, then he deserves a spot.

    Swiss League Topscorer Damien Brunner

    <blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="Spongewingredpants" data-cid="2339202" data-time="1357893512">
for years, Red Wings fans were complaining that we dpnt have players willing to shoot the puck. So if Brunner is selfish and wants to shoot the puck, i dont see a problem if he scores.

Keep in mind that Z scored buckets while on the same line with Brunner. They simply complimented each other. The opposing D never really knew who was going to shoot

if he can adjust quickly to the size of the rink, he will do fine

With how great Z and Brunner did together, I can't wait to see how good of a line they are with datsyuk thrown into the mix! Ah wayy stoked for the season to start

    Next Year UFA Wish List

    <blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="haroldsnepsts" data-cid="2339128" data-time="1357859020">

After shopping Bobby Ryan several times now, I also wonder if the Ducks would finally commit to dealing him.

Was wondering this as well. I'd love to welcome bobby Ryan on the squad. I'd probly take him over perry if they were both FA.. But if perry does hit the open market, I'd love to get him. Problem is, so would every other team....
