from nhl.com.... "In the seven-team Conferences, teams would play six times -- three home, three away -- for a total of 36 inter-division games. In the eight-team Conferences, teams would play either five or six times in a season on a rotating basis -- for a total of 38 inter-division games. The teams in the seven-team Conferences will have 46 out-of-conference games, including 23 at home and 23 on the road. The teams in the eight-team Conferences will have 44 out-of-conference games evenly split between home and away."

it's going to be four conferences.

theres some cons but overall i like the fact that we play each team at least twice.. also obviously shorter travel will help out. only thing not to like is the unbalanced conferences.. of course the NHL favors the east as usual. should be 2 conferences (one 8 team division and one 7 team division per conference) with moving a team (preferably detroit) to the east. at least then two sides would be even.... playoffs could be something like top 2 or 3 teams in each division make playoffs then the next 4 or 2 best records in the conference (respectively) make the playoffs as well.. not sure how i'd want the seeding to go for playoffs to go but at least this would make making the playoffs a little more fair.. idk just an idea. also doesn't the NHLPA have to approve the realignment still? sorry if this was already addressed, i didn't read all 8 pages of the discussion

i'd love to land parise. especially at the deadline.. that could help our top 6 soo much.
-
i hope we don't get doan ever..

Has anyone noticed what they are doing in Sunrise, FL?
amato replied to hockey&beer's topic in General
panthers have no goaltending. they'll finish barely out of playoffs. 9th by a point or two. and they're only going to be that close because they're in the east.. -
also, homer won't get it because the refs hate homer..
-
chicago wont get him.. especially if they're trying to sign sharp to an extension. wings are more likely than chitown. columbus i could see happening but the most likely thing to happen is semin staying put in washington because hes a great player and only 27.

toews must have been out of town that day....
-
our d is set. a decent forward signing seems very likely though probably through trade...
-
haha macdonald was never close to the number 1 spot. buttt i think if they go with ozzy, he'll be good to go. if there is any hesitation in how he feels he'll do this season, they won't sign him.... would love to see conks too however.

hudler will probably surprise everyone this season, no matter where he's playing (most likely here).. i think it just took him a year to get used to the nhl again. idk if the caps get rid of semin though. sure he had an off year in terms of stats but everyones individual stats on the caps were down last year because they played a different style game. they were able to win close games rather than just try to outshoot everyone every game. ove, backstrom, semin... all their stats weren't as good last year but semin had a much better shooting % than their other players. i doubt they get rid of him. but if they do, i'd love to have him on the wings. semin-dats-z would be an amazing pp1....

this is all because of that uglyyyy jersey he has on....
-
langenbrunner is still available. he could be a decent edition and probably pretty cheap. i'd take him over arnott
-
i think huds is going to have a decent bounce back season. i feel like it just took him a year to get used to playing in this league again.. towards the end of the year he picked up his play a little and he's definitely worth a roster spot..
-
stevie y knows whats up. haha
-
green would be awesome. too bad the caps wont get rid of him.. not a chance. burns or liles could be cool too..
-
this is awesome haha. i dont really like philly one way or another.. im indifferent to them. but LA's my 2nd favorite. they're gunna be realll deadly this year
-
GMillerTSN (twitter) says: Trade call is not complete, but the parties in the Phi/LA have agreed to the deal. League approval should come within the hour.
-
hellll yeah LA!! hope so
-
yea true true but jagr can skate pass shoot when we're breaking in then when we have control stand in front. him and homer can do that on both our power plays.. sure homer can still have pp1 i guess. it doesnt really matter... point is, he'd help out our pp edit: either way (if we get jagr or not) the wings need to work on their pp. it was pretty awful against the sharks
-
jagrs a big body who could easily do holmstroms job on the pp next to pav and z... and i think we can all agree he's probably a better skater than holmer. Z - pav - jagr. sounds like a good pp to me.... if hes cheap enough, why not get him? holland knows what he's doing.. we won't pay too much for jagr and if we don't end up getting him i'm sure the money will be spent somewhere that will also help out the team.
-
if the price is right we'll probably sign him if he really thinks he can come and compete/help out. the wings like to make the most of older players..
