Agreed. And of course. I have always liked him as a player (Suter too) but part of me couldn’t help but be at least a little relieved when they didn’t sign those contracts here.

Not that I think he’s been worth his whole contract or anything, but Parise did have back surgery in October.. the low stats aren’t too surprising. Although he hasn’t really put up great stats since he was in Jersey.. maybe Minny is just not a good fit? You’d think they would’ve adjusted to him at least a little bit by now though. I do wonder how long he’s been dealing with the lingering issues that caused him to opt for surgery though. Also, damn. He broke his sternum in the playoffs. Talk about a rough year all around.

Completely agree. 2x5 is the highest I’d expect his contract to be. And he doesn’t seem like the kind of guy to try to get as much money as possible anyway.

I know you’re mostly joking but I feel like without the pressure to “keep the streak alive,” the potential Green contract will be more of a “here’s what we’re giving you, take it or leave it” type of situation rather than an actual back and forth contract negotiation that raises the price. This is of course assuming his surgery went well and everything.. which sounds like it did. “He’s expected to be fine for the start of training camp” is the latest report I’ve seen.

Is this just speculation or did you actually hear something to that effect somewhere? Toward the end of the season I thought I read his agent saying something completely opposite... something along the lines of: Green understands that his future contracts won’t hold the same value as he gets older.

Oh yeah, don’t get me wrong, I’d love Grubauer or another younger guy with future starter potential.. but I don’t think we’ll find one cheap enough tradewise (or in free agency at all) to make sense. Would love to be wrong on that of course, but a cheap one year backup is the route I think we’ll go.

I suppose I wouldn’t mind any of those three. Would probly prefer Hamburglar over the other two.. skated with him once, seemed like an alright guy. The retaining is probably yes, yes, no.. without looking into their individual situations too much. I think the team chaos pick would be Mrazek so I might want that just to see reactions /wouldn’t mind him at backup money.. doubt he’d come back here though.

Not sure if all of these upcoming UFAs would accept backup money/role on a rebuilding team but if they would, I wouldn’t mind any of Lehtonen, Halak, Lack, Bernier on a cheap one year deal. I’d put Ward in that list too but I don’t think he’ll ever leave Carolina and I’m sure he’d take a discount to stay there. Thanks. Yeah the team has felt a lot more vet dependent than past years; which obviously any wings fan could agree is less exciting. Hopefully they start to get away from that again starting next year.

It’s possible I suppose? I think if he’s close/on the bubble they’ll at least give him the amount of NHL games that he can play without burning a year of his ELC (9 I think?) then at that point, decide if going back to juniors or staying in the NHL would be more beneficial to his long term development.

Hopefully he shows he’s ready next year! Doesn’t look like he can progress much further in juniors and I believe he’ll still be too young for the AHL.

Same, I’ve been on the Jets band wagon since Laine. Kid’s just so damn exciting to watch.. Plus they’ve got a ton of depth everywhere. But really, the winner of the probable Jets/Preds second round series is who I want to see win. Would also be okay with the Caps, Kings, or.... Bolts (don’t hate me, every other wings fan ever)
