so, Leddy is obviously protected now, right? Hronek, Leddy and.... Lindstrom? on defense. (thinking they just keep the youngest for the third d-man given our current state) Forward: Larkin, Vrana, Rasmussen, Bertuzzi, Fabbri, Zadina, Smith? I feel like Seattle takes either Cholowski, Dekeyser, or Namestnikov.... unless they reach a deal with Bernier and don't find their goalies elsewhere

yeah i'm a pass on hyman with so many teams interested. if we were closer to contending, and still lacked forward depth, i might be interested. but i don't think he's long term deal good.. i think he benefits from playing with good linemates in toronto more than his linemates benefit from playing with him. if he gets 6-8 years on his next contract, he'll be a future buyout candidate.
-
this is what i was thinking. a young ish vet to pair with seider. leddy is a solid puck mover too.. will help seider's development when he gets to the nhl imo
-
yeah that's fair. why i added "provided he's healthy"... obviously that'll be a factor. but they likely don't get an obvious #1 goalie the way vegas was gifted MAF. Bishop seems like a decent snag though.

we basically traded mantha for vrana, a 1st, and Leddy now. awesome trade imo. didn't really see a spot in the lineup Panik was good for anyway. Leddy will be a solid mentor for the young d-men, and isn't even that old himself. Still plenty of good hockey left in him.

Ben Bishop waived his NMC for the expansion draft... Bishop/Jarry would be a decent tandem, provided Bishop is healthy now.
-
Would be a very holland move. At least he's good enough to where we should get something for his rights... hopefully that's the case anyway.
-
Can we trade rights of drafted but unsigned players? Just give him to Boston for Swayman
-
dang, you've got a few years on me.... barely around these days though. i thought this site was done for when it was down for a while this year. glad to see it back up.
-
That would be an incredible get.. I assume it'd start with a first and a high ranked d prospect. CBJ would probably ask for Seider, Stevie would say no and try to go from there. I'd hate to see him go, but I think Bertuzzi would be a solid CBJ type player if they keep the same style of play under their new coach.
-
Hell yeah, Mantha! Now there's a four year extension we can all agree on!
-
really never thought I'd see the day. Wonder what Stevie has planned.
-
ahh my mistake. bummer for him, but i'm sure he'll be fine long term.
-
too bad they waited until after the draft to announce this or we might've got him. (still happy with Raymond though, don't get me wrong)
-
Depth was definitely what I was going for. Fabbri having a center on his line to help him out/potentially switch him with seems good to me too. Bolded: in my mind, they're healthy scratches when everyone's healthy, injury replacements when we need them.
-
I feel like ownership and Stevie might just be on the same page with where we're at as a team. Kind of how I read that. Why be in a hurry to spend big and risk being cap strapped in a couple years when we don't even REALLY know what we have in a lot of our recent draft picks? Short term deals are perfect for us right now.

Bertuzzi-Larkin-Ryan Mantha-Namestnikov-Zadina Svechnikov-Gagner-Fabbri Helm-Glendenning-Timashov not necessarily what I think we'll see but what I'd like to see, forward wise. Defense, I don't really care. Just make sure Hronek gets the most power play minutes of defenders and I'd like to see Cholowski make the wings opening day roster.
-
At some point this year, I want Namestnikov and Svechnikov on the same line just to hear announcers fumble over their names Really though, pulling full Svechnikov to at least get a call up at some point.. sucks that he had such a bad injury at such a key time. I hope he can bounce back and at least be some decent secondary scoring in the middle six.
-
Just came here to say that. So weird. Maybe so that he can sign for the extra year next year if all goes well? Either way... An Eichel and Hall combo has quite the potential
-
that and/or maybe they'll pay us to take Alec Martinez's last year
-
sounds even more like Vegas wins.. Leafs just signed Bogosian and TJ Brodie
-
if that's the case, combined with what LeBrun said, then yeah. definitely seems like a done deal.
-
leafs clearing some cap. NJ taking on the full contract. sure sounds like Pietro is heading to vegas
-
multiple (unnamed) teams in on Taylor Hall, he's supposedly narrowing down his choices to a select few before proceeding with negotiations. Canucks interested in Tyson Barrie. Wouldn't mind him here on a one year deal.
-
exactly what I was hoping for, at least on day one given the current state of our team. Bobby Ryan was a pleasant surprise, and expected a couple defensive signings. But other than that, we sit back and wait for other teams to get desperate with their cap space.
