Red Wings sign D Trevor Daley to 3 year, 3.166m/yr contract, includes NTC/Modified NTC.

I'm for it. Daley is somewhat offensive too, right? Has a good shot. We can have Green, Daley, Jensen as our more offensive style guys on each pairing. -
Red Wings sign D Luke Witkowski to 2 year, 750k/yr contract. Will play as F.

forward? Huh thats it for us.

I don't think it'll happen either but re: the under contract part of your post; Yzerman's current four year deal does also expire after the 2017-18 season.. which leads to more speculation that he'll potentially come back here.
-
Right. Agree the deal seems questionable.. at least without the right team around him anyway.
-
Personally, I like Abby. Problem is he's a support type with not enough to support... at least yet. Imo anyway.
-
I knew that name sounded familiar.... My money is on Radulov If we're actually interested in him, I say offer him 1 mill or less on a one year deal and see if he can make an impact in camp if he signs.. if not, we can bury the cap hit.
-
That'd be cool. I think they're going to let both Thornton and Marleau walk though.. both are getting plenty of interest from aroind the league. I don't really know why but I keep thinking jagr will end up in Vegas. And that'd be great haha
-
It's probably not his decision. I don't think he's actually worried anyway.. someone will sign him.
-
Because we have enough bottom 6 centers? Would sign Grigorenko before Bonino (cheaper/younger/more upside) and I think that might be a long shot as well.
-
Agreed. This plus he's got a good thing going in Tampa. I imagine he's happy there/with what he's built so far.. he's not going to just abandon that.

Good points. It's rumored that many teams are interested in him though and I don't really see him signing a one year deal if that's the case.

Smiths cap hit is only 0.35 mill under McDonagh's for the next two years

https://theathletic.com/71094/2017/06/27/custance-red-wings-on-the-hunt-for-veterans-on-defense/ Custance mentions kulikov in here. Agreed with your other points but it sounds like we're pretty set on adding a veteran d man which makes me think Kronwall and/or Ericssons status is in doubt more than we think.
-
Hearing Kulikov's name in connection with the red wings as well.. at least he's younger? Doesn't exactly excite me any more than what we've got though. Used to be a fan of Daley but again, why not just go with what we've got? Maybe they know something we don't and the status of Kronwall and/or Ericsson is worse than has been reported to the public.. if we sign anyone, I hope it's a one year deal. Yakapov on a low cost/term prove it contract, as mentioned by others before, would be a great idea imo. I just feel like he might have better offers in the KHL and sign there instead.

FrkEhn A, eh?

No I think they got rid of that type of compensation, unfortunately.

Was invited to Oilers camp in summer of 2015 and didn't get even an AHL contract offer.. maybe he's improved since then but as far as "things he needs to work on" back in 2015 goes, he doesn't sound great.. http://edmontonjournal.com/sports/hockey/nhl/cult-of-hockey/undrafted-defenceman-loik-leveille-is-an-intriguing-edmonton-oilers-camp-invitee

Will be signed July 1st.
-
True. I just get the feeling that they'd rather continue with what they've got (maybe sign a Justin Williams or something?) than trade anyone in their top 4. But you're right, you never know. I do like the idea of taking a prospect with a lesser package.. in general, not just from the preds specifically.
