Saarijarvi does see pretty "boom or bust." He's very offensively talented; 12 goals & 43 points in 59 games in his first season in the OHL with the seemingly dysfunctional firebirds.. But also seems to need work defensively; -15 in those games.

I don't think Dekeyser wants to leave, but who knows. I think he just wants negotiations sped up or maybe wants a short term deal so he'll get paid next season. Would probly be fine with a 5x5 deal.. I don't think he's hit his prime yet. I just hope we get him a top 2 caliber long term d partner to grow into his prime with.

Thinking third line then? What do you think the power plays will be? Maybe Vanek at the point on one but then we're opening up a lot of possibilities for odd man rushes going the wrong way.. Not having Datsyuk is going to hurt an already bad power play. This new assistant has his work cut out for him.

Mantha was very hyped upon being drafted, and for good reason. Very few are as high on him as they once were.. I'm just hoping he's having a good off season of work and comes to camp determined to make the roster. He certainly has the tools to be a difference maker at the NHL level, he's just gotta want it. Little Bert has been one of the more exciting Griffins to watch over the past year. I still think he'll have another year down there though. Maybe be a bottom 6 injury call up this year.

Agreed. And I think he'll keep kucherov and drouin. Then Boyle will probably take a discount to stay and I'm sure Stevie will try to move filp. He's got his work cut out for him, but Tampa could stay competitive for a long time with that core.

Definitely doable. I think kucherov probably gets half of it and around a 6x6 deal.. The real problem is on top of that, next year Johnson, Palat, Boyle, Drouin, Sustr will all need new contracts. Bishop comes off the books next year too though so that'll help.

But I think the point is that the streak is very far from meaningless to the people paying the players and running the team..

Yeah if we signed any free agent d man this year, it would feel like a plug.. A long term plug too. Kind of like Ericsson Trade route is the way to go but it takes two GMs.. Hopefully we can make something work sooner rather than later.

I think the third line will have sheahan at center and helm on the wing.. At least that's what I'd do. I like sheahans progress so far and hope it continues. Helm-Shea-AA would be a pretty solid 3rd line imo
