Yeah cbus definitely comes to mind. I'm sure there are others too but i can't think of any examples off the top of my head. It would also give holland a little leverage and make trades that could happen without taking a bad contract back cheaper too. But it doesn't matter because we'd probably rather eat the cap hit for a year than do that. Maybe I'm wrong. But I think the only way we trade the contract is if we sign stamkos or make a trade for a d man + sign a lesser forward (okposo, Eriksson, etc) and absolutely need the cap space. A contract coming back the other way would make no sense.. That's basically what I got from that tweet.

Ah, so more of a prediction than an observation? I disagree.. I don't think any off season will ever be the best case scenario of something like get rid of bad contracts, sign big name free agents, make big trades, etc all in one off season.. But I disagree that the team will be the same minis rich dats and Q. Something has to be done; whether it's a small step forward or a leap, we won't be the same team we were this past year. Hell, we already won't with all the coaching changes. Hopefully we're in for an exciting off season.

Most off season excitement is centered around the draft and free agency/the interview period.. The draft and interview period both start this weekend.. This is pretty much the calm before the storm.

I think he's playing the media a little but it's also early in the off season.. And teams know we'll want to trade the contract. They're all going to ask for more than they're actually willing to take in the deal.

Datsyuk's contract negotiations are going to be a game of chicken.. Fingers crossed we get a deal done.

Yeah the only thing I can think of is there isn't enough interest most of the time. Goligoski must just be a guy that Arizona had on their radar and thought would receive a lot of interest on the open market? Who knows what goes on behind the scenes..

Or frank, if your intent by saying "offer sheet trouba with a massive signing bonus then extend him" was meant to mean a huge one year contract then extension, I disagree with that. Anything above 9.5 mill-ish (I forget the exact number) would compensate the jets with 4 first round picks. I like trouba as much as the next guy, but I wouldn't ever trade 4 first round picks for him
