We could call them The Answer. -
Am I missing something? (re: Tootoo)

Is that true? I never read or heard that Babcock fought for this. -
The cynicism against Datsyuk is offensive to me. It seems like people on this board are ready to turn against any player just cause they're dissatisfied. The truth is that we don't know what's going on with him. He had a concussion earlier in the year - maybe it's something related to that that has kept him out. Who knows, why think that he suddenly cares nothing for the team that he's given his whole career to?

Huge opportunity to start clawing our way up the standings. It seems like everyone in the playoff hunt lost their last game or two. Also, with Philly having lost the last 3 hopefully they're not playing well. -
Dimity Kulikov is listed as 6'1" 205. I wouldn't consider that as lacking size. he's an RFA though so there's very little chance

Who Sits Next? Speculation Thread
PavelValerievichDatsyuk replied to Wings_Dynasty's topic in General
Off topic - but Columbus is 1 point behind us - we have one game in hand, but they're in the playoff race, won 8 straight recently, and will get Gaborik back some time down the stretch. I think "train wreck" is misused. For Calgary it is fitting, though. On topic - of Seahan, Jurco, and Glendening I think Jurco is the first to be sent down. Hopefully Sheahan and Tatar can keep the chemistry without Jurco. Maybe Abdelkader or even Franzen on the wing? Also, Why is Tatar on that list of candidates to be waived/sent down? please take it off it disturbs me -
Maybe you've already seen this, but at the top panel of this website there's a spot that says show news. It has links to recent articles on red wings blogs and news sites. Whoever runs it seems to know all the good websites and keep it up to date.

Babcock has already sat Cleary a game earlier in the season. Yes, Cleary has played over younger players often, but just keeping things honest. And yes it is a good move to sit Bert this game. -

Would Samuelsson ever consider retiring mid-season?

Tonight he made two nice set up passes. One in Sheahan's feet that probably should have been a goal -

they do need veteran stability, better team D so Hendricks could be good for them and improve the PK. -
http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=700641&navid=DL|NHL|home "Let's be straightforward," Babcock said. "In the cap world sometimes guys on your minor-league team don't get to play on your [NHL] team even when they're ready. Riley Sheahanis right there. Jurco is right there. Glendening is there for sure. "Sheahan has four points in six games. He's a big man and knows how to play. Jurco can flat-out skate and he knows how to play. Glendenning wears on people, he plays hard and we like him." Encouraging Babcock statements.

Wow, okay, you're definitely entitled to that outlook. To me that's a very cold view. To me, Fandom is all about supporting these athletes through good high points and low. Yes, I cheer for a team to win, but it's the human stories, struggles, and triumphs that actually make it worth watching. Also, I think one reason the wings are looked to as such a great franchise is because the organization is more than a business and treats players as more than merely commodities.
-
This statement is so impersonal like he's just a commodity. How about a little empathy for an injured person. Especially since he's incredibly talented individual and very important to the team.

I'd like to talk about this off-season/next season

I can count I added some names and forgot to change the number - it's 15 mainstays in the lineup that were drafted and developed plus glendening who I accidentally included -

What are some recent Examples? Alfie, Sammy,Cleary, Weiss, Coliacovo, White, Modano, all came here as UFAs. We traded Matthias for Bertuzzi but that was 7 years ago. we traded a 1st for quincey and, though most didn't like it, he's not a vet. My point is that Holland has made the organizational shift to drafting and developing and supplementing the roster with available UFAs. Everyone else on the team is home grown except DK and The Monster. Edit: Ooops, also Miller and Eaves not drafted here, but we still still have around 14 players Justin Abdelkader Joakim Andersson Pavel Datsyuk Jonathan Ericsson Johan Franzen Luke Glendening Darren Helm Jimmy Howard Jakub Kindl Niklas Kronwall Brian Lashoff Gustav Nyquist Kyle Quincey Brendan Smith Tomas Tatar Henrik Zetterberg -
Yes, but you claimed a preference for the way the Burke does things. It's not really that different. The flames have lost 8 of the last 10 so they should probably worrying about other things than a couple of tough guys. Holland is not going to get those kinds of guys not because he can't pull it off - it's just not how he builds a team; he has shown it's not a priority for him.
-
Yeah, if only we had Burke as our Gm!??? Really? He goes "out there and fix something like this in weeks / months?" You must have missed some of his earlier resume.

Tatar gets one for his dad and Cleary gets to show off his new teeth after his goal. Great game!!!!
