signed Wings sign Alfredsson to 1-year, $3.5m deal (+$2m bonuses)
PavelValerievichDatsyuk replied to ogreslayer's topic in General
If Alfie and Cleary both sign, I wonder who gets number 11? My guess would be Cleary since he's been so long. Also Weiss wears number 9 so I wonder what he switches to. -
Signed Datsyuk agrees to 3-year extension, $22.5m total, $7.5m/year

Your post made me think of Wayne's World so I'll add a SCHWING! to this celebration -
Tootoo didn't play in the playoffs with the Predators either. I think he was signed with the idea that he would not always be in the lineup. I really don't see anything that suggests that Tootoo would be bought out.

Which UFA would help the Wings the most?
PavelValerievichDatsyuk replied to TheDetroitRedWings's topic in General
No to Heatley. Don't need him in the locker room. -
In 2011-2012 only 40 players scored 28 goals or more. In 2010-2011 only 37 did. That's an interesting concept of average. I don't think many tout him as "so great." I do think that many see that he scores goals and therefore is a help to our team despite other deficiencies in his game.

Helm with Miller and eaves would be a great shut down line. They're all PK guys so they're more than used to going up against Toews and his linemates.

Babs confident Datsyuk will stay
PavelValerievichDatsyuk replied to DatsyukPwnz13's topic in General
haven't seen this posted: Datsyuk, who can become an unrestricted free agent next summer, would like to work out a extension this summer. "I would love to stay," said Datsyuk, 34, who can sign an extension beginning July 5. "Yeah, I hope we agree and we sign a new deal. I hope we agree and I sign for more (years)." From The Detroit News: http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20130531/SPORTS0103/305310378#ixzz2UvPdpG2n Edit: nevermind, I'm blind and missed the other thread -
Let's Talk About Abdelkader, Plus Others
PavelValerievichDatsyuk replied to dropkickshanahans's topic in General
Eaves is better than Miller. Better hands, faster. more of a scoring touch. I really like Miller too, but Eaves is just a step above. There's a reason he's paid more. BUt there's not much point in debating because Eaves is signed for next year and Miller isn't. If we're only keeping 1 it's going to be Eaves. I think both staying, though. Cleary and Emmerton will be the first to leave (assuming Helm's healthy). -
He would just be on the injured reserve. No use in buying him out. Plus he's Helm - we want him, whenever he gets back edit:oops someone else pointed this out

gdt WCSF Game 7 GDT: Red Wings 1 at Blackhawks 2 OT (CHI wins series, 4-3)

Cleary was on the back check right behind Seabrook. But it was a quick turn around play and Cleary shouldn't be faulted for anything. -

What player were you watching? Cleary player with heart and put everything he had out there. He's not supposed to be a leading scorer. Yes, we need more offense, but talk the about the guys that didn't score if that's your point. Not the guy who outplayed his role -

Okay we're down a top sixer and, lets be honest, they are a better team. it's a 1 goal game - i like this all things considered. would like to see brunner with zetterberg and eaves on the 3rd line. This is doable. -

I pulled out my fedorov jersey for this one. bought it on 'fight at the joe' when I was 11. doesn't really fit, but I'm wearing it all day just for extra luck. -
On CBC they talked to Holland about him being available if we made it to the finals. Holland mentioned that he's able to handle the puck in practice, but really just shrugged the question off, saying that they'd like to be in a place where they'll have to think about that

gdt WCSF Game 5 GDT : Red Wings 1 at Blackhawks 4, (DET leads series 3-2)
PavelValerievichDatsyuk replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
No, That was a much more physical Hawks team. They put more pressure on the forecheck. We didn't play as well as the previous 3 games, but the hawks didn't "the same they have all series" They stepped it because they're facing elimination and we'll have to match that level. -

Score? How about just a power play that can enter the offensive zone? -
GDT WCSF Game 4 GDT- Blackhawks 0 @ Red Wings 2 - (DET leads series 3-1)
PavelValerievichDatsyuk replied to FlashyG's topic in General
This is some interesting logic. Just because the team has exceeded the GM's expectations doesn't mean he shouldn't get credit for putting the team together. A big part of our success seems to be that we have young players excelling. This is because a) those players weren't traded away and b) No players were signed to take their roster spots away and therefore they were allowed to develop. I guess you're just calling this not getting anything done. -

He's also vice-president of hockey operations. Interesting... -
Should we bring Tootoo in for game 4?
PavelValerievichDatsyuk replied to raidedredwing2's topic in General
For me, that's too far. He's been very good for us. He's been energy when we need it, grit when we need it. I just don't feel he's what we need right now. -
Report: Roy Appointed Avalanche Coach
PavelValerievichDatsyuk replied to Namingway's topic in General
Of course, but coaches have to come from somewhere. I'd say Dale Hunter did pretty well coming from the OHL. Roy will have the experience of coaching younger players, which will help as the Avalanche develop.
