Money was allotted for Suter/Parise. Didn't pan out. We have gone the route of locking up the core. Look at the Franzine, Kronwall and Z's contracts. Now a lot of people just complain about the Mule contract. Except that it's not true. Go to Capgeek achive check the Red Wings cap history beyond This year. Or research somewhere else. Wings have consistently been among the highest spenders.

jan mursak does he have a future in the nhl?
PavelValerievichDatsyuk replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
I was really excited about Mursak. I made big predictions that he would surprise people and find a spot on the team this year. Unfortunate that he went down with injuries the past two years. Shows you the window of opportunity is brief and unforgiving. He'll really have to impress to get another shot. -
GDT 3/28 GDT : Red Wings 0 at Sharks 2

I agree he's gotten a lot better defesively. No major mistakes tonight, but i just thought a couple rough shifts for positioning. But he just had a nice takaway and break, though, so maybe I just caught him at a couple unrepresentative moments -

Brunner kind of looks lost out there tonight. Turns away when the pucks coming for him lets the other team grab and his coverage hasn't been the best -
Ray Shero making the NHL his *****
PavelValerievichDatsyuk replied to unsaddleddonald's topic in General
I don't think anyone expects them to keep all of Iggy morrow, and murray after this year. I think previous posters are talking about the problem of resigning Malkin, Orpik, Letang, and kunitz in 2 years -
I broke my right thumb. After a while it was suggested I could play with the cast. I tried it in practice and it definitely didn't work. There was no strength in the arm and the stiff cast restricted movement too much. Then again, that way in the days of the more bulky casts. And yes, playing with it on did make the cast smell much worse.

Nah, Nyquist played with Pav last year. But yes Tatar should get a chance up there as well

GDT 2/27 GDT : Red Wings 1 at Kings 2

Regardless of the other person's post, you were arguing that we are a much more appealing team and I was pointing to the fact that we are in the same situation as them in the standings. -

We're one point into a playoff spot -
He's been in North America just over a month and a half. He's the leading scorer on the Wings. He's adapted to the North American game amid a frantic condensed season without the luxury of a full training camp. These are great achievements that most have said exceed expectations. I think it's unrealistic to expect that his game would be fully rounded amid these factors. At least give him time. Oh, and don't understand how you could perceive him as not working hard for the team.

Red Wings to be in an Eastern conference in latest NHL/NHLPA proposal

More like it reunites us with some original 6 rivalries. Since you're from Illinois you're probably thinking HAwks, but besides them other rivalries are a product of the most resent configuration. -

As I live in Montreaal, I'm hoping for this. I only got to see one wings game last 2 years (it was the one last year where Lidstrom was injured and it was 6 or 7 to 0 for the habs.) -
2/23 GDT : Nashville Predators 0 at Red Wings 4

I'm not really defending Cleary, but that wasn't a garbage goal. The shot was going wide and tipped it right out of mid air. That takes some skill. -
Article on assistant GM's ready to move up. Jim Nill #1
PavelValerievichDatsyuk replied to haroldsnepsts's topic in General
You seem to really like to complain about Holland. If you don't like the decisions the have been made in the recent past you must know that Nill has been in on those decision. You praise Bowman and Devellano but you know that Holland was part of that GM threeway. Unless you have some insider information about who was chiefly responsible for which decisions it doesn't seem logical. -
Yeah, they should all suck it up and play through their injuries. Oh wait, Clearly did that last and that didn't go too well...

That's why Shultz Parise and Suter all signed with Tampa Bay. Just joking around. The culture of smart, classy, and respectful management that has attracted talent for so long is still intact. If the Wings demonstrate that our prospects will ensure future success, despite drafting late, then Detroit will remain an attractive destination.

GM Ken Holland says Red Wings might not make playoffs this year
PavelValerievichDatsyuk replied to Hockey13Playa's topic in General
I think Illitch is smarter than that. If we don't make the playoffs, Illitch will realize that Holland saw us through 21 seasons in which we have made the playoffs (the longest active streak in the 4 professional sports). He will realize the many factors that might bring us to that point and realize that the league is now designed to stop teams from having a prolonged dominance in the sport. Sadly, it seems, all fans will not have such a reasoned response. -
It's Goosetave Nyquist's
-
His contract with his euro team only released him to play in the NHL so when he was going to be playing in the AHL they took him back
-
Mursak, Tatar, Filppula and Brunner are ahead of Malkin! I know, I know they're in different leagues... I've said it before, I'll say it again: This is going to be a big year for Mursak and I think he's going to surprise some people. No broken foot or ankle or whatever part it was - He'll tear it up
