    Pavel Datsyuk..

You forgot that I am Darren Helm. The name was just to throw you off.

    Pavel Datsyuk..

I think he probably would have been like last year but with a bit more gone from the tank. I'm sure it would be special for him to win in front of Russian fans. He always had the plan to play in the KHL at the end of his career - I'm sure he wanted to that before the tank was empty and I'm sure that was a consideration in his departure.

    Looking ahead at expansion draft

Since Green has an extra year on his contract, he should demand more than Vanek since he's not just a rental player. Also, Righthanded offensive Dman are always a scarce quantity.

    Pavel Datsyuk..

Yeah, he's continued to have injury problems this year and he's not at the top of the KHL as some thought he would. He must have some of the mojo though: His team, SKA, is in 1st and teammates including Kovy, Dadonov, Voynov, Shipachyov, Belov etc. dominate the stats charts so he looks like that could be a championship team.

Yeah, at least he's getting PK time to add to his minutes. Guess that's due to Milller being gone and Ott not playing. ANd lo and behold, it was a great kill.

Missed that period. The comments seem to be pretty negative, but this could be one of the only times in recent memory that we've been ahead in shots. Also doubled them in hits with 16-8. Maybe it's a case where those stats don't tell the story.

If we left Green exposed, I think he would definitely be taken. Throwing away a asset like Green wouldn't be a smart idea for the rebuild. If we don't re-sign him next year, we should trade him at next year's deadline for a good return. If you did want to shed his salary for this offseason, a better plan would be to trade him now rather than just lose him for nothing in the draft.

Vitale's the contract the Coyotes trade us in the Datsyuk deal. He's LTIR retired. Nielson's injured. Should be Larkin taking the spot, but I guess they want to keep him at wing. You could have bumped up Helm, but his line is pretty much our 2nd line anyway. Glad Jurco is in over Ott.

2/3 GDT - Red Wings vs New York Islanders - 7:30 PM EST

I thought that was a pretty good game. Mrazek's definitely taken a step backward. Green had an off game with a bunch of errant passes. Blashill still benching AA and Vanek. ....but really liked Z and Nyquist and in general I thought we were better.

Need to see more from Vanek, Larkin in the next period. Some of that's on Blashill: Vanek played the least on the team with 2:48 for icetime.

I'm actually fine with those lines (except the PP madness). The aspect not mentioned is that Sheahan is finally demoted to the 4th line. I'm fine with AA and Vanek on the 3rd because it could capitalize on the Vanek-Helm chemistry from earliy in the season. Also they cooled off with Nielson and it moves Larkin up to the 2nd line and it'd be good to get him going again.

    Here's a very blunt read.............

I think one important move for the offseason will be to move Franzen's contract to another team (arizona, maybe LV). I don't think Kronwall will be long before he's on LTIR "retirement" and that will create room for that to happen. I don't think Miller, Ott, Smith, Marchenko, will be back and I think Vanek and Green could be traded so those moves would create roster space. (that's potentially 4 D spots, 3 forwards spots)
