    Value of trade assets.

There is reason to mistrust a translation of an article in a foreign language. If you've ever looked at different translations of literature, you've seen how vastly different they can be. And google translate is hardly a professional translator. kick, not to get into the issue too much, but CNN doesn't take polls - they report on independent pollsters. It was inaccurate or misrepresentative polling (taking all opinions rather than just those that will actually vote) not inaccurate reporting. All stations I watched reported the same polls.

    Drew Miller on Waivers

Yeah, definitely hard to compare situations, but Eaves always more offensive skill even if the points weren't always there. Eaves has played on high lines for the Stars for a 2+ years now. I was definitely on the Eaves side of that argument, but I didn't bring him up to say "i told you so" to people - I never would have thought he'd do what he's doing now (it will be a career year for him). It's just interesting to get the view after things have played out. Eaves has been injured a whole lot even last year so it might still be debateable which one you want since he was available very little and he probably wouldn't have seen higher than the 3rd line here.

    Drew Miller on Waivers

Much respect to Miller, but it's definitely good that he's gone now. Good for Jurco that he was kept despite playing the least of our roster players. Hope he get some time over Ott or maybe Sheahan (though he's been better) this season. To dig up an old debate - remember when LGW was arguing Miller vs. Eaves? The debate was that many thought they were the same player and we should only keep one. Eaves has 17 goals (would lead our team by 5) and 29 pts. this year. Eaves has been hampered by injuries, but has done well for himself.

I want to see PP goal where DD put it to AA and then TT finishes off.

I know it's a lot of money (and I'm not trying to dig up that debate), but Abby-Helm-Glen could be the best 4th line in the league, in my opinion.

Internet troubles so I missed the goal, but I'm in for this one. Sweet Stop!!!

Mraz was never pulled in the series. We lost 1-0 and the lightning scored with minute or two left to go. He played great that game, but the goal was a result of him playing the puck and giving it away.

That's not true, though. Howard played game 1 and game 2. Both goalies were rough at the end of last season, but Howard had a couple good games right at the end so he got the nod.

True, but we don't have a whole season of Mrazek's numbers so comparing to Howard's past full years isn't quite fair. If you look at rough segments of 20-25 games that Howard's had throughout his career, maybe the numbers dip as low as Mrazek's or maybe not. We'll see at the end of the year where Mrazek's numbers are at. I thought he was good in the playoffs. Apparently Blash and Holland did too since they named him #1 after it. His stats for the 3 games were SV%: .945, GAA: 1.36. That's pretty damn good - especially considering the rest of the team didn't play so well. And for the record, I wasn't saying choose Mrazek only for his age - just that consideration of age is a factor for a team that's building for the future.

    Shattenkirk

Only sign pending UFAs if you're planning for a cup run. If they wanted to trade for a pending UFA (Smith+?) or a salary dump then fine, but otherwise wait for the offseason. With the expansion draft, I don't think anyone is going to sign him to an extension before July 1st and be forced to protect him so he'll be available

Yeah, I don't get the level of hate for Mraz, Legs. Sure, he's struggled, but Utter garbage? I hope that's hyperbole. He's even been really good in his past 3 games, in my opinion. Also, much has been made of this storyline that Mrazek's been bad since his birthday last year, but don't think that's fully true. I think he was good in the playoffs last year and this year he's had pocket's of good games. So more like inconsistent since that birthday. I think he looks like he's turning it around. Howard's been great this year, but there is a reason Mrazek won the #1 position back for the playoffs last year - Howard was pretty bad through the end of the season. This seems to be forgotten with his great play this year. Anyway, I think the reason there's so much debate on goalies this year because there isn't a no risk, clear choice between the 2 because both now have inconsistent play in their pasts. Without the cap, it'd be nice to keep both, but with the idea of creating some space and maybe getting something in return, I think Howard has to be the one to go if only for the consideration of age.

Coreau has only played 9 NHL games. We're not really considering him our backup already, are we? I've liked what I seen from him, but it's definitely not the type of performance to start planning the future around. He has a 3.04 GAA so far. That's nothing to get too excited about. He looks like he might be a good backup in the future if we traded someone, but to say that he's already stolen Mrazek's spot is crazy to me.

    Givani Smith

http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2017/01/red_wings_draft_class_of_2017.html#incart_river_index Saw this update on Givani that says he's leading the OHL in PIM (91). That only includes 1 fight, so that might be a little worrisome to take so many penalties, but it'll be good to have a guy with grit. More importantly, though, he has 18g, 31pts. in 39 games so it looks like a good pick.

Z's not practicing today, but that's probably just to give him some rest. In injury news, Ott apparently has a shoulder issue and might go to IR. Also, Helm might play tomorrow. Good coincidence if these 2 things might happen at the same time so we don't have to send anyone down.

Vanek is almost a PPG player (3 pts. short) and is now tied for most goals on the team and most points despite missing 11 games. Mrazek is the 11th goalie in the league for Shoutout stop % (jimmy's 10th) and has more attempts than anyone lower on the ranking (there's some with only 2-4 attempts that skew the ranking) https://www.sportingcharts.com/nhl/stats/goalie-shootout-save-percentage/2016/

I think that's likely, but, he's still telling reporters to their faces that some of their articles aren't so good - seems like an awkward thing to do. Maybe it was said in a light-hearted way, though.

I thought this quote from Blash was interesting: "Nobody's perfect in their life every day. Just the reality of life. I've read some of your guys' articles. Some of them are really good and some of them aren't." Just a light-hearted joke or is Blash upset about some coverage. I'm sure some paper out there has speculated about his status through the last while.

Really impressed with Z this last stretch. PLaying like a captain should. Mrazek looked really solid in relief. By my judgement, that's 3 solid games where he looks like he's gettng some mojo back.

I found the solution to this problem. Once you delete the text, you click the blank space beside "SoAndSo said:" and it makes a blue outline of the quoted box - then you just press delete and it goes away. It was driving me crazy for a while, but this always works. As for the subject, Green has 1 more year on his contract so he's not just a rental. He could command more than a pick. If it was for a quality D prospect/young player+pick, then maybe I'd be on board, but I'd rather keep him than get a pick for him (it would be a low pick from any contending team). I do think he's young enough to be part of a good WIngs team in a few years. If he's not part of the future, then we could keep him for the trade deadline next year when the draft is projected to be better.

I think the AA-Neilson-Vanek line has been too good to mess with right now. I hope we keep Larkin at center instead of moving him up with Helm coming back and put Helm as the 4th line center. I think it's going to be Ott or Miller out. I thought Sheahan was better this past game though his offence is still nonexistent.

Nerve, I think you have to stay in Detroit and go to every game. You seem to be a good luck charm.
