Pretty sure everyone here has been talking about Smith as part of a package I like OEL, but since Arizona is a rebuilding team, I don't know why they'd be trading their talented 23 year old player. Yandle is still pretty young at 28, but they're building for the future and he seems a more likely sacrifice.

I sort agree, but you could get that RH shot elsewhere. If it took Smith in a package for Yandle I think we'd have to do it. Then you could trade Kindl (and maybe a low pick) for Petry. Edmonton will lose Petry at the end of the season and need they need Dmen. Kindl might not even seem as an overpayment after what they payed Nikitin.

I was at this one! My one game a year that I get to go to while visting the family. Not the most exciting game - both sides lacked energy. Had a beer spilled on me and my dad. Meh, always good to get to see game. Mrazek looked good! Tough skid lately. I'm hoping that we find out that most of the team is fighting the flu and they'll go back to being the team they were a few weeks ago. -

For me, it all depends on how he's been playing. If he's been playing well (Some struggles from the different ice size can be forgiven) then he should be in the lineup and the Wings could be at fault for signing too many AHL extras. 7 games is a lot of games to be scratched for a high prospect in the AHL. It's not like he's complaining about not being in Detroit. Then again, all complaints like this should be taken to someone within the organization rather than the media. P.S. Agree: move Kindl, promote Ouellet, then Backman gets time in GR. If we do upgrade the D by adding another Dman, Backman is in the same position. -

The kid line (with Jurco, granted) didn't work too well at the beginning of the year, but maybe it'd be different now that all those guys have hit their stride. -
Do we need a trade to get our offence going ?
PavelValerievichDatsyuk replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
Saw this blog that suggests we could possibly get Green for a 2nd round pick. Do you think that's realistic? Cause I think we should do that deal if it is. He's a rental at this point, but I could see him resigning. No lost roster players. We could then flip Kindl for a lower pick. http://www.mynhltraderumors.com/2014/12/12/nhl-rumors-ii-bruins-sabres-wings-leafs-oilers-and-blues/ -

Fine, you don't like Smith, but you proposed giving up Smith AND Dekeyser. I think that hurts us on defense. We might get a good top defender, but then we're top heavy. If you're going to give up 2 really good players at least make it a forward and a defensman. But anyway, I would be against pretty much anything involving Dekeyser. -

I understand that you're sacrificing for a big name, but getting rid of those 2 would be WAY too much. They are two solid players heading into their prime that can be a solid #3 and #4 (or may develop higher) for the rest of their careers. Not to mention they're pretty cheap at the moment. I really don't know which RH Dman could be worth giving them both up. To me, our Tradable roster Dmen goes: 1.KIndl, 2.Lashoff (does his job, but easily sacrificed) 3.Quincey, 4.Ericsson -

Yeah I just found this link. Here, It sounds much more speculative. The other article cites this one so I think some bad journalism just turned it into a sure thing. Last line (google translate): According to Correns' data, the LHC clearly first in line if Bäckman flight home. -

Danny DeKeyser out for weekend with upper body injury
PavelValerievichDatsyuk replied to Smite's topic in General
I think perfect health is unrealistic. Look around the league, teams are rarely 100% these days. We have been relatively healthy and none of the injuries have hurt us all that much - I think that's "where it needs to be." For a push in the playoffs, we do need Z to find his game. He's coming back from surgery and he's has many seasons with slow starts - I'm not that worried Before Abdelkader went down, we had a stretch of games where the only one hurt was Monster. With Mrazek to step in for him that injury is barely noticed. If you're counting all those players as significant then most of our roster is significant. Maybe "others like Monster and Quincey" meant less significant? Also. I love Smith and Abby, but I think significant injuries only means stars and starting goalie. If you look at this link for the first 20 games of the season, The WIngs are 7th in players lost by caphit amount. We had Weiss out for that period and I think that accounts for that high ranking. He seems to have turned a corner with his injury situation and I think we've been closer to the middle of the pack since he's been back. http://springingmalik.blogspot.ca/2014/11/nhl-man-games-lost-and-chip-analysis-20.html Also, if you look at the link, for the first 20 games we've lost 43 man games without considering caphit. They don't rank that, but, looking at that column, I think we were 16th in number of man games lost. (Maybe somebody can check out my counting) Though we've lost games for some big players, but I'm not so worried about our injury situation. Last year we had a lot of players battling long term situations. Weiss seems to be on track, Helm too. Z had his surgery. Dats didn't have anything done and has been out so he could be a concern, but his current hot streak argues against that. -

So Lashoff is on the team only to take Kindl's spot when he's scratched it seems. 'Cause every time another dman is injured, we get Ouelett. I guess the situation is smart since is keeps the prospects playing, but Lashoff's role is almost nonexistant. -

Wrong. We've seen Helm, Zetterberg, And Glendening at least in shootout this year. Not sure who else. Weiss and Jurco deserve a try. -
Do we need a trade to get our offence going ?
PavelValerievichDatsyuk replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
Any trade for a defensman we make has to see one a defenseman go the other way. Otherwise, Kindl's forced out of the lineup and we'll have to buy him out. Unless we find a separate trade to get rid of Kindl, of course. I don't think we need a shutdown guy. Dekeyser, Kronwall and Quincey have been solid in shutdown capacities. Ouelett also looked solid in that regard. Ericsson has been in the past seasons so I think he'll return to form. I think It's still RH D. I know that they've all been mentioned before, but I think these 2 are the most realistic options: Jeff Petry (UFA, Oilers need to make changes) Mike Green (UFA, injury issues, Wash has a s***eload spent on D and need a shakeup) The problem, to me, is that the Oilers don't necessarily need scoring wing (Pulks). I think they'd be after our D prospects instead. Which is fine with me, not all would fit in our future. But who would go? Not sure whether Wash needs pulkinen or D. -
It's gotta be asked....What's up with Hank?
PavelValerievichDatsyuk replied to Motown4013's topic in General
And yet Datsyuk has been playing as good as ever for a while now. So it's just a stretch of greatness? We'll see. Not too worried about Zetterberg. He's was coming back from surgery and still leads the team in points. Not everyone on the team will be at the top of their game all at once. I'm happy that now we have a deep enough team that certain hot streaks can cover others cold streaks.
