Weiss sent down to GR- conditioning assignment
PavelValerievichDatsyuk replied to Nyquistfan14's topic in General
Hasn't Weiss only played 2 games? Edit: Nevermind, I guess you're include the one a couple weeks ago when he got injured. -
Nestrasil Waived / Claimed by Hurricanes
PavelValerievichDatsyuk replied to WingsallTheway's topic in General
It took a while to make the list so I thought going back to the beginning of 2010-11 was a large enough sample size. I guess the point of making the list was to show where we stand amongst others teams in terms of losing players to waivers. If you go back farther, every team's totals will probably go up. It was meant as a rebutal to those that thought we have lost a lot of players to waivers or were claiming that Holland wasn't doing his job by letting a player get away. Yeah, I didn't count Nabokov because he never really was our player. I thought that signing a player from the KHL, and losing him to waivers before he ever plays for team, show a different situation then losing a player when sending them to the AHL. And I thought it was not really relevant to this particular discussion of losing assets. Maybe I should have listed him with an asterix, though. I'm pretty sure that no one else on my list fits that situation, but anyone can let me know if they find one. -

Nestrasil Waived / Claimed by Hurricanes

There's a lot of people upset that "we lost him for nothing..." attached to damning of Holland in GMing abilities. There was also a few comments saying that it seemed that the Wings have lost more players for nothing than others. That got me thinking and I was bored so I did some research on Wikipedia. Here's all the players that have been claimed off waiver from each team since the beginning of the 2010-11 season. It shows that we are right in the middle of the pack and it happens to all teams (except the Bruins, apparently). Penguins: (7) B.Strait, T.Kostopoulos, Z.Boychuk, S. MacIntyre, D. Jeffrey, M. D'Agostini, Nick Johnson Kings: (6) T. Hickey R. Clune, Marc-Andre Cliché, Keaton Ellerby, Adam Cracknell, Marco Sturm Blues: (5) Anthony Peluso, Nate Prosser, Taylor Chorney, Marek Svatos, Kyle Wellwood 4: Panthers: James Wright, Mike Santorelli, Ryan Carter, Michael Grabner Flyers: Niko Hovinen, Tom Sestito, Blair Betts, Andreas Nodl Lightning: Adam Hall, Richard Panik, Antti Miettinen, Curtis McElhinney Oilers: Corey Potter, Taylor Chorney, Gilbert Brule, Ethan Moreau Islanders: Jack Skille, Blake Comeau, Tim Wallace, Rob Schremp Ducks: Brian McGrattan, Ben Maxwell, Brendan Mikkelson, Troy Bodie 3: Blackhawks: Ryan Stanton, Michael Kostka, Nick Boynton Predators: Zach Boychuk, Taylor Pyatt, Marek Svatos Red Wings: Joey MacDonald, Andrej Nestrasil, Mattias Ritola Sabres: Joe Finley, Corey Tropp, Craig Rivet Hurricanes: Zach Boychuk, Patrick O'Sullivan, Brett Carson Canadiens: Aaron Palushaj, Jeff Woywitka, Blair Betts Wild: Zenon Konopka, Colton Gillies, Brad Staubitz 2: Maple Leafs: Keith Aucoin, Darryl Boyce Devils: Bobby Butler, Alexander Urbom Coyotes: Brett MacLean, Cal O'Reilly Rangers: Jeff Halpern, Dale Weise Stars: Luke Gazdic, Kevin Connauton Capitals: Roman Hamrlik, Alexander Urbom Jets: Brett MacLean, Ben Maxwell Senators: Kaspars Daugavins, Cory Conacher 1: Flames: Niklas Hagman Avalanche: Brandon Yip Blue Jackets: Grant Clitsome Sharks: Frazer McLaren Canucks: Aaron Volpatti 0: Bruins: -

Hurricanes took him for free. would they have taken him if they had to give up a pick? Maybe not. Especially if they think we're going to waive him eventually. -
Do we need a trade to get our offence going ?
PavelValerievichDatsyuk replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
I really think there was 0 chance that the Bruins would have traded Boychuk to a division rival. I think Ericsson is having a rough start due to his finger injury and his inability to train all out in the off season. The amount of hate he's gotten this year is shortsighted in my opinion. Hopefully he'll get back to the way he way the past couple of years. -
Yeah, I guess I was unclear what I meant. My post does say I think it'll be LIds, Feds, Pronger - and that'll be deserving. I've just always hated Pronger - I kind of just meant anyone else instead of that guy. There's no way the Kariya should actually be there ahead of Pronger. That fact that you guys got up in arms shows that there's no real question about this class, though. I did really like Kariya's character as a player, though - great speed, vision. But his career was messed up by concussions and he played on some pretty bad teams.

Article on those eligible next year: http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=739939&navid=nhl:topheads I think it's Lidstrom, Fedorov, Pronger. I'd like to see Paul Kariya in there over Pronger - He was a player with pure class. Too bad he never won a cup.

Weiss' situation has a lesson in it, but I think it's more that you stay away from players with recent injuries unless they've already come back from them successfully and shown it won't have long term consequences on their game. -

I think we should trade Andersson or Nestrasil for Pulkkinen. Then we trade Kindl for Oulette or Marchenko. The only problem is that I've heard that the Griffins' GM doesn't like to make trades. -
GDT 11/16 GDT : Montreal Canadiens 4 at Red Wings 1
PavelValerievichDatsyuk replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
If he's out, does Weiss get a chance or does Helm take one of the Center spots and Cleary takes a wing? Edit nevermind, they practiced with helm at C and Cleary so i guess that answers that -

But when they do actually appreciate hockey in your city and there's a great franchise, sadly, you can't afford any of the tickets. -
Fine, but that was a BIG hit.

3-0 for Sabres over the Leafs. HAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Wings call up McCollum, assign Mrazek to Grand Rapids
PavelValerievichDatsyuk replied to jimmyemeryhunter's topic in General
They want Mrazek to keep playing, but I think they want him to practice as much as possible with the Red WIngs and Bedard while Gus is out. -
I agree. I only saw the 3rd period/OT, but he did not look like someone who was just coming off an injury or playing in his first pro game - to me he looked like he was driving the play, hard forechecking, and very dangerous offensively. And he will only get better. Very encouraging first game.

5th in the East tonight. 4 points from 1st. 3 SO losses -
Saw this article. They don't mention any names, but it's pretty easy to guess. The Wings only have 2 prospects from B.C. and the other is a Ferrarro. http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2014/11/03/hockey-mom-emails-nhl_n_6096988.html Hope it doesn't get in the way of his development since he impressed in camp.

Ranking Wings Players by Draft Order
PavelValerievichDatsyuk replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
You're right - I forgot Datsyuk's first season was 2001-02 not 2002-03. -
That would have to be it unless Cleary or Nestrasil are injured. Weiss already said publicly that he feels healthy enough to play Friday.

Stars trade Sergei Gonchar for Travis Moen from MTL
PavelValerievichDatsyuk replied to derblaueClaus's topic in General
Well actually we are pretty much 100% healthy - Weiss and Datsyuk say they're ready this weekend. The monster is out, but it doesn't really matter since we've got Mrazek to cover for him. -
Ranking Wings Players by Draft Order

That was the year that Yzerman only played a handful of games - That probably was what made room for Pav. -
Don't know much about him, but just googled him and came up with this: That is a big shot. Do you know if he was Dekeyser's partner while they were together?

I see you got the flux capacitor working again.
