Anyone else have a feeling that we'd lose tonight?
rrasco replied to unsaddleddonald's topic in General
It's not like the Jackets have anything to be proud of, they're 1-7-1 for crying out loud. They want to forget about this and move onto the next one, they still have 6 games to win to try and make that 7 look moderately non-horrific. Even s***ty teams win every once in a while, usually. -
Plenty of such guys have shown themselves, this guy included. You should try drinking during the games, it makes it easier to take in on a bad night, and on a good night your neighbors will get over it.

I love the jealousy that stems from having the best duo in hockey. Reading the comments on PD is epic.

You forgot to indicate you were being sarcastic. You were being, sarcastic...right?

I thought Z and Pav have both looked not-so-up-to-par. I think Pav's wrist is still bothering him, he doesn't seem to be the Pavs that we know. Don't get me wrong, he's playing good, just not Pasha good. I have not noticed Zetterberg that much, which means he isn't doing a whole lot, but I'm sure he will get up to speed. I don't recall either of them playing much preseason, that combined with the slow start to the schedule, I think the boys just need more hockey to get up to speed. To be honest, I wasn't sure how we even won the first 5 games as a team, looked rusty to me, but they found a way to win; and that's what makes a great team.

Oh, c'mon, who needs kids? J/K, 'grats Jimmy!

I was trying to figure out why they had Sammy listed for Fla last night. Makes sense now.

You have to pay for a subscription too, so it's not just $20. Wanted to clarify that. Center Ice doesn't include pre/post game either. Directv has all the games in HD for both feeds, assuming the provider has an HD stream to begin with. I pay $30 for directv now, it will go up to $70 once all my promotional discounts end, but it's the best decision I have ever made. They are no more expensive than any other provider.

I didn't think it was that bad. Certainly hit him in the numbers, so no question there, but I thought Hansen kind of flopped it. Not like that has stopped a suspension this year though, see: Adbelkader, Justin. Either way, did Hansen put himself in a vulnerable position immediately prior to or simultaneous to the hit? Shanny will let us know soon enough.

I had it less than 2 months ago....it's channel 122 in HD and 266 in SD. At least in San Antonio it is. I find it hard to believe they have that much of a difference in their programming from San Antonio to Austin....but I don't see it on the Austin channel lineup while it is most certainly still on the SA lineup. http://www.timewarne...clu/CLU_231.pdf http://www.timewarne...clu/CLU_388.pdf At any rate, you should switch to Direct...they will work this fox thing out and you will thank me later. If you do switch, I can save you $100.

TWC does suck, hardly any HD coverage for CI. I can't comment on NFL Network, but TWC does certainly carry NHL Network...they just moved it to their sports pack. I had it in my subscription one year then the next it said I didn't have it. They claimed I never had it, but just switched it to a paid package so I had to pay an extra $5 for it. I switched to Directv this offseason and I could not be happier. Definitely the way to go if you want to watch HD hockey, with center ice of course. If the game is broadcast in HD, you will get it in HD. They will work this out, but we may have a few days of no fox channels until they start losing customers and revenue, then they will pay up.

Audio fail. Why do people insist on recording their television with a video camera?
-
I do not believe the game against the Wild was on NHLN. When a game is on national television, they black out the other channels because the national station has broadcasting rights for the game, in other words, they are paying for the right to show you commercials. They don't want you to watch another channel because then you wouldn't see their commercials. That's where all the money is in television, advertising. I think in most cases, if a game is on national television, it is not broadcast on the RSN as well. In some cases, yes, but not always.
-
What service provider do you have? What channels are being blacked out for you? For starters, Center Ice is free until Oct 23, so you should be able to use the Center Ice channels to get the feeds...unless it's nationally televised and you would have to watch on that channel (NHLN, VS, NBC). If you have Directv, they unlock the RSN channels for the game and you can watch on that instead, even without Sports Pack. For example, I watch 663 (FSD) for Wings games, but I could alternately watch on one of the Center Ice channels (~740-780). Some providers only allow you to watch on the Center Ice channels, normally because they don't offer all the RSNs. *cough* TWC *cough* If you get the Sports Pack from Directv you get Root Sports. I do.

There are a few streaming sites out there. Check the GDTs for links. Won't help much if you want to watch other teams, but at least you can see the Wings.

Makes sense. Thanks for clearing that up.

I didn't read up on all this, but I'm confused as to why Nystrom would be put on waivers (two times in the last week?) and then be 'traded' for future considerations. Why didn't Dallas just pick him up off waivers?
-
To be fair, it's really like that everywhere. Every sport and every team. Simply put, winning teams sell tickets.
-
Unfortunately, that is kind of the attitude down here, from most people. Although, anybody willing to be open minded about hockey, normally end up addicted. Hockey is not something you can really be a part of here, it's not offered in school, and the leagues that are available have to be sought out and are expensive in comparison from up North, so I'm told. Exposure is very limited. I wish I had the opportunity to play hockey growing up. I played basketball, football, baseball, soccer. Everything but what I really wanted to. Hockey is growing down here, but not fast enough.

Get an Entertainment Book, they have 50% off coupons. Lower bowl tickets in the corners are about $75, with coupon they're under $40 a piece. Or, use the coupon for better tickets and get them for $75. I'm not 100% they have the coupon this year, but they have the last few years, no idea why they would change it now. You don't even need the coupon, just call and tell them you have it, that's what I do. 6000 people sounds like a lot more than it looks like. Our AHL team (Rampage) have attendances ranging from 6-10,000 and the place looks empty when there are 6000 there. Besides the other big names they lost, they also let Richard's walk this offseason, too. I think their attendance will pick up though, maybe not sellouts, but wait until MLB is over and then we'll see.
-
The Wings were the Stars' home opener last year and it was full. You can get lower bowl tickets for $70 and you can even use a coupon for 50% off. Highly likely everyone was at or watching the ALCS game.
-
Agreed. It really shines (no pun intended).
-
It's not that bad. If you just play the game for enjoyment and don't get over critical that is. I win some and I lose some. That's how it's supposed to work.

Directv? Plug your box into your network and you can control it via http requests. I guess that was dumb, you have RCN. I'd get a universal remote of some kind if I were you.
