That's ridiculous. Don't believe I've ever seen that before.
-
They actually proposed that at the most recent GM meeting. It was unanimously shot down.
-
Which is a ridiculous price. I can't afford $250 for a jersey, does that mean I'm not entitled to wear the winged wheel? I don't. If you can afford it, be my guest. You'll never hear me complain until someone thinks they are better than me because they can afford 'authentic' gear. Huh? Of course the price matters. Why wouldn't it? Ya, so is smoking pot and driving over the posted speed limit. What should be illegal is charging $250 for a $5 article of clothing. Or spending that much on said article of clothing. Just because something is illegal doesn't make it...ahh f*** it.

f*** yea, America! Sorry, I couldn't resist. I think the word 'arrogant' has lost all meaning in this thread. It's a Canadian sport, as in, that is where it came from, not as in, hockey is Canada's sport and should win every tournament because of it. As stated, Canada does not own hockey. It's like there is zero recognition that hockey is played in the USA as well. I think you worded that wrong, because I do in fact think you have that sense. In the end, my opinion is that its okay to believe that your team is better and is capable of winning a tournament. At no time should you believe you are entitled to win. This entitlement seems to stem around Canadians believing they once again, own hockey. Canada does have more players in the NHL, they are a hot bed for hockey talent, we know this, I don't believe anyone ever refuted that fact or said the USA has more players or better talent. Do you really expect Texas (or California) to produce top-notch hockey players with all the ice they have? How much of Canada is not covered with ice? I think this whole view would go away if Canadians would sit back for a second and acknowledge that there is some form of hockey talent coming from the USA. It would at least from my view point, but all I ever see if "Hockey is a Canadian sport" banter.

Heavy favorites of your sport, eh? How did that happen? Must be all that Canadian dominance you were talking about. Did you really just use California as an excuse for population versus hockey plays? California? Who said that? I believe I said it is a Canadian sport. It's not that you think you're the best at hockey, it's the sense of entitlement that you should win, when that clearly isn't the case. Sports are sports and the best team doesn't always win, that's why they play the games.

This is another topic on whether its right or wrong, but I am arguing a price point on authentic or replica gear. It most certainly doesn't cost $200 to produce a jersey. Why sock it to the fan? Are you insinuating that since the knock offs are made in China, they probably use some sort of child labor? If you check shop.nhl.com you will see that most jerseys, even legit ones, are produced out of the country. This one says the country of origin is India. In the past, I have seen it say China which is what I was getting at but it has since changed so I can't really make that point now. You normally see this for customized jerseys on NHL shop, but I'm willing to bet most jerseys are produced in the same warehouses. I'm genuinely curious how many of the legit jerseys find their way out the back way and onto ebay or other markets. http://shop.nhl.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2626961&cp=3176434

I love my 'subpar' jerseys. They are holding up great. My point was the value behind the item, it's not worth half of my mortgage, no matter what month I buy it in. I don't have $350 to spend on it, ever. If I can save up that much money, there are other things that I need to address before I drop that kind of cash on something-you-dont-wear-everyday-non-clothing-article I don't wear a jacket everyday, or buy them every month, and I buy them from the subpar discount clothing store, for $30. Does that make your jacket better than mine? Its like comparing a Phillips to a Vizio. People think the Vizio is subpar because it looks a little different and is cheaper. On the other hand, my Vizio not only performs better, but has lasted longer than my Phillips. Price is never an indication of quality or an ability to satisfy. If I'm happy with the jersey I'm wearing what does it really matter?

Yes, of course. However, the US didn't blow the lead in back-to-back gold medal games and lose. You see, I don't have a problem with Canada. I have a problem with Canadians having this sense of entitlement to the sport of Hockey. This shows in the arrogance of many Canadian fans, not all, but many. It may be a Canadian sport, but many other nations love it too and it gets pretty old seeing Canadians act like nobody else should be playing the game. Case in point, Canada was expected to win and they didn't.
-
There is, actually, a comparison, and it doesn't require a picture. $350 > $50. It's ridiculous anybody would be expected to pay more than $100 for an article of clothing. I'm sorry, I love the Wings, but a jersey is not worth half of my mortgage.

Haha, I didn't get to watch the game but man I wish I did. Seemed like everyone was handing the gold to Canada after they took out the US, guess they forgot they still had 60 minutes to play against Russia. This is wonderful news! Sorry Canadians, but I couldn't stand to watch you win it on US soil. How does silver feel, again?
-
It sure is better than losing everything. At least it shows a growth in USA hockey. I know Canadians love to claim everything hockey, but its growing in the US and it will only get tougher for our friends North of the border as the years pass.
-
It's not gold, but its a medal. Too bad Sweden has to go home empty handed after beating Canada, what a disaster it has become for them losing to Russia and now USA. I hope Russia wins gold as I don't want Canada winning it in the States.

I'm American, born in San Antonio TX and I love hockey. I had everybody sitting in my office watching the 2010 Olympics on a 26" monitor, and I just watched hockey. I'm also watching the bronze game in my office, but nobody else could care less about this one. Olympics are high profile so they tend to do that. I love minor hockey b/c of the prospects I get to see, plus its good to support your country whenever you can; especially given that Hockey USA could use all the support they can get.

The only reason I don't like buying knock off jerseys is that the money doesn't go to the team. Other than that, I am always proud to wear my Red Wings gear, authentic or not. You may have an authentic jersey, but I have a closet full of knock offs that 99% of fans wouldn't know were. I also don't live in Detroit, so nobody down here knows any better, especially when I'm at a Stars game. On that note, I got most of mine from letshockey.com. Had them 'custom' make this Modano right after he signed so I could wear it to his homecoming at the Stars/Wings game in Oct. It's not perfect, but I think its close enough for $50. I don't have a picture of the crest, but can post one if anybody wants to see it. EDIT: I will add, I do have an Yzerman and Lidstrom that came out of Korea that are pretty bad. Crest is too low and they are small. I don't wear those, but all of mine out of China were A+. My suggestion, find a dealer you like and stick with them.

I feel like I'm playing NHL on xbox with Gary Thorne calling the game.

I've wanted one of those for years. I think I'm going to build mine so that it is loud enough my neighbors know when there is a goal.
