Gauging by their performances against Sweden and Germany, Can and USA seem to be on very similar paths. USA vs Swe (3-2 OT), Can vs Swe (2-1 SO), Can vs Ger (9-3), USA vs Ger (8-0). We'll see how that pans out when they hit the same ice.

Since we have nothing else to talk about...how about this hit that led to Jenner's ejection and possible suspension? I think it was pretty late. The puck was across the ice already, on an international rink no less. Jump to 3:30 for the hit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wwuPLjCU4W8 EDIT: Got video to embed, stupid https

I agree, but it seems that is SOP for most leagues.

Probably so. No harm no foul eh?

+1 I'm not mad anymore, I just don't give a s***.

Honestly, I'm paying less and less attention to this fiasco everyday. It's bad when family members have to apologize for buying me Wings stuff for Christmas and say they did it before the lockout. I do believe there will be a season, but I also believed they would be playing by now. I guess in the end I'd be more surprised to hear they reached an agreement than if the season was 86'd.

IIRC, he called that 'The Datsyuk'.

That was pretty nice. Better than a logo hunter, that's for sure.

I just read that article. Was looking on Twitter for mention of Kane, but none there. Seems that Austrian club has management issues, at least that's what the comments in that article are insinuating. Of course, they're also talking about armed forces and terrorism, so who the hell knows. After reading the Kane article, he mentions Mayweather. If you ever saw the Ortiz/Mayweather 24/7, him and 50 cent were doing that with money, so I understand the joke. Horrible timing though.

Sad that I hear about game cancellations from my local news before I see it elsewhere. I thought it was particularly interesting they used a picture from JLA. It's like they're trying to break my heart. </3 http://www.mysananto...-14-4135777.php Did that picture of Kane just come out Kip?

I believe Daly said in his interview they were expecting to cancel the next block of games this week, so no surprise there.

I went back and tried to find the video of Costas Tonight with Gary Bettman. I found it, but it was missing the part I wanted to show, when Stern and Bettman were both talking to Costas. I thought it was interesting how Stern essentially answered for Bettman when Costas asked if they were going to hold out for 50/50. I could not locate that video though. During my search, I watched some of the video again and read some of the quotes. The source of a quote that had alluded me, I stumbled across. I thought it was an important counter-argument to those who say that Fehr was stalling negotiations back in January, because it doesn't sound like Bettman had any intention of negotiating back then either. Bettman on CBA negotiations: I also thought it was interesting how Bettman essentially brags about coming back from the last lockout after 'shutting our doors for a year'. That part starts at 15:30. Most of this interview is about concussions and fighting. http://video.nbcspor...593035#46593035 Also, just because it's kind of weird to go back and read stuff we were posting about a potential lockout back in March...here is the thread I had started about this episode of Costas Tonight. http://www.letsgowin...costas-tonight/

How was the game? I was bowling last night.

I absolutely hated Huds' tendency to just shoot the puck. He did have a knack for coming through more than not though. And I saw his Forsberg winner in person. I really don't know who Babs would choose. I would say Z, just because it makes sense. LOL @ Patty

I guess what confuses me is that the NHL thinks it can survive with the least amount of RS among major NA sports leagues, and their revenues are less than the others as well. Even if a CBA is signed today, it won't fix anything. I can attest to knowing what it's like growing up in the South and the viability of the sport around here. I wanted to play hockey, but it's not offered in schools. If I wanted to play sports, I could play football, baseball, or basketball. There are hockey leagues here (one place) but it's expensive and has to be sought out. I didn't have those resources when I was younger. The sports is definitely growing here though, and it's not so uncommon for draft picks to come out of Texas now. There was a little more to it though. When given those choices, he had to say yes. Given the potential antitrust lawsuits, if he said no, it could be used against them to argue their faith (good or bad) in negotiations. My prediction is in the next 3 weeks or so we'll either see a deal get done or the whole thing blown up. Of course, that seems fairly obvious at this point. http://sports.yahoo....00380--nhl.html

This is what stands out to me. The league will not be stable unless they address the problem at hand...and that's not player salaries.

Well, just look up a few posts to the article Jedi linked. This is bad, BP oil spill bad.

Yeah...Pavs, Ovy, Kovy, Malkin, Rads
-
I really miss Pavs...and the rest of the gang too. Now I'm having Ken and Mick withdrawals.
-
That's what I thought. Thanks.

Has Pasha ever had a regular season hat trick? I think he was on that list of players with the most 2-goal-games without a trick. Poor Kindl...

There are not 15 months in the year. Not my years anyways. /s

This is getting old.

If this is true, the NHL filed their complaint today to place this deadline on the PA. Which means, if the drop-dead date is mid-January, the NHL is calling the PA's bluff and is planning to wait them out. Of course, if the DOI is filed.....BOOM.

I saw that too. Quite humorous indeed. Can't even agree that they had a meeting or not.
