I can remember no less than 2 accounts where Franzen has been high-sticked in the face (cheek) and was dripping blood on his way to the bench without a call. Is it annoying? Yes. Can you do anything about it? No. Basically what I'm saying is, get the f*** over it.

My comments were smuggled from behind the fortified walls of LGW and imported into the barren wasteland that LGB*T is by a domestic terrorist residing amongst us. You won't catch me with an account over there. To be less cryptic, a bunch of our comments were quoted on LGB*T where we were then called a bunch of sensitive sallies for responding to someone who claims to want to have conversations about hockey with us.

If a player "...checks or pushes a defenseless opponent in such a manner that causes the opponent to hit or impact the boards violently in the boards." This met that criteria, penalty. I don't necessarily agree with the 5 min major, but the ref doesn't get to see a replay like we do. It looked bad, on replay, not so much. I don't see how you can really complain about it in hindsight though. Our PP was terrible, you guys scored a shorty, we took a penalty, and then you guys scored a 4on4 goal. Without a 5 min major, you guys might not have scored at all.

I'm sure it would be, considering Franzen scored both goals in the comeback. That would be convenient for the Boohoos eh? Doesn't look like much of a cross check to the face, more like glove to me. Backes did get cut somehow, I'm just not convinced it was from a facial cross check. Backes flopped just as bad as Thornton did last year. I'm willing to bet that's why there was no call. And then it must be so horrible to get hit on the top of your helmet with a hockey glove, Franzen should have just been tossed right there. /s Tons of things that could have been called that game, including the Franzen 'cheap shots', but that's all irrelevant at this point. The young guns fell back into a defensive shell and let the Wings find their wheels. Another Bloser point to keep you guys right up there at the top, congratulations.

What a game. Lots of good things to take away from this. Anyone surprised the inexperienced started to lose their composure when the going got tough? And Kronwall stepped up on Reaves.

Growing up in Texas, my ability to ice skate is, well, let's just call it limited. I did however grow up roller blading, so the best piece of advice I can give you on that front is to drag a skate behind you sideways. Nowhere near as effective as on ice, but I don't think you can get much better. FWIW, I never had a 'brake' on my blades.

I'll have to ask my buddy if he knows anything about them, he owns a roller hockey rink in Buffalo.

Got a link to the reg season Clowe hit? I don't remember it. I keep wanting to put Stuart's hit on Umberger from 2009, but then I realize it was Stu. The Anisimov hit was pretty rough too. Not sure I'm going to branch out though. We'll see what happens. One of my main reasons for building the site was when I try to show people Kronwall's hits, I'm always trying to remember the good ones and having to track down videos of them. Now I don't have to.

The Blues have succeeded in playing well against most teams in the league, as evidenced by their position in the standings, but if they fail to tie the season-series with the Wings then it just shows they might not be the team they think they are, at least matched up against Detroit. While I agree they have little to gain standings-wise and should be more focused on the playoffs, they still have something to lose by allowing the Wings to come into their arena and take the season-series 4-2. Losing a 6 game series against the Wings 4-2 could do damage to their confidence as well as bolstering the Wings'. After all, it only takes 4 wins to take a playoff series as well. What would that say about their playoff chances if they were to meet the Wings? I guess only time will tell.

Sounds like posturing to me. Like, if the Wings win then it doesn't mean anything because the Boos don't have anything to play for. Shenanigans. Why would this game not be huge to the Blues as well? They may have the division locked up but not the season-series against the Wings. The Blues have won 2 games against the Wings this year and lost 3. Neither team has lost on home ice in this series and I don't think the Blues want to start now. The Blues still have a lot to prove.

Sweet, had not seen this one yet. I liked the flying octopi too! It's a long shot, but I'm thinking maybe the NHL had a contest for the adverts and this kid or his production team won? That's the only logical reason I can come up with as to why they went with his voice. I think he sounds like the kid from 'Loose Change'.
