I actually like how Franzen and some of the others have been mixed up. Imagine being a 3rd liner having to play against Mule. It must make match ups hard for the other team. LGRW!

You answered your own question, intent to blow. At any point the ref intends to blow the whistle the play will be deemed dead; even if that means blowing a play dead while the puck is flying through the air towards the net. See: May, Brad. The way the video review works is this: The call on the ice is what stands, unless the guys in Toronto have 100% conclusive evidence to over rule the play. If they don't have conclusive evidence to over rule the play, or the on ice official indicates he intended to blow the whistle, the call on the ice stands.

Bring the Gold, to the Red White and Blue. I love to cheer for Yzerman, Holland, and Co, but not when it's for Team Canada.

Red Wings recall Doug Janik, Chris Conner and Jordan Pearce from GR
rrasco replied to jeff48109's topic in General
Actually, I've seen the kid in a Red Wings uniform. All kidding aside, how do you figure? -
Ouch. A Wings game on St. Patty's. Wings' games are hard enough on my liver as-is. Ditto. I think last I heard his jaw was doing well, but it was concussion-like symptoms (headaches) that are keeping him out. I'd also bet on him being out the season.

How did I know this was Dater's work?

You would make even Brian Burke look good at GM.

The only thing I remember him saying was sunday afternoon games are nice. Other than that, it was just a bunch of grunting.

Hockey parent uses laser pointer to "blind" opposing goalie
rrasco replied to Gizmo's topic in General
That's a serious laser in that video. If someone tried that with a 1w laser, it could blind you instantly. -
Looky there.

Anyone watching Costas tonight on NBC Sports? He's about to start talking to Bettman solely after the break. Bettman already said CBA negotiations has not even started. Makes me feel great about next year. Not. He's just so...what's the word, slimy. Costas already brought up him getting booed handing out the Cup...it was funny to watch him squirm about that. I'm not gonna recap the whole thing, but it is going to be rerun next as well.
-
Yeah, but the problem is there won't be any time for them to settle things. Negotiations take time, and if they wait until July to start, odds they are done by mid September are low. Bettman said this is not the right time to start a conflict, which implies there will be one. Costas asked if the NHL would try to go the way of the NFL and NBA and get player revenues down to 50%, instead of the 56-57% they receive right now. Don't remember what Bettman said, but he avoided an answer, then Stern leaned in and told Costas 'Yes'. He was like, "Hey, we can talk about it. We're just two guys talking. Gary is just sitting here." Get the s*** out of the way while there is still time. We will not be 'okay' with another work stoppage.

He did when he was talking to Mayweather regarding his tweet about Jeremy Lin.

Haha, I'm on a support call and had to do everything in my power to keep from busting out laughing.

Yeah, because the one game we played since the deadline caused us to drop in the standing. Oh wait, we won that game.
-
Yeah, but not if the player puts themselves in a vulnerable position immediately prior. It's also not just free reign on players to put themselves in vulnerable positions and be protected.
-
I never understood why they implemented ROW and still award two points to the winner. Definition of half-assed.
-
Targeting the head does not have to be deliberate or intentional, it can also be defined as reckless targeting. IMO Letang put himself in a vulnerable position immediately prior to the hit. There was no reckless (or deliberate) targeting of the head, no elbow comes up, and he didn't leave his feet. Kronwall never makes an attempt to play the puck with his hits, he shouldn't have to. He's using his body to separate the puck from the player. Legal.
-
As Sandyeggo said, it's determined by regulation overtime wins; otherwise referred to as ROW. This is to essentially declare that SO wins are not real wins, but you still get 2 points for them. Which is why SO wins suck.
-
Even Bylsma said Letang put himself in that position by poke checking at the puck last second. Said he would rather have him play along the boards there instead. f*** Milbury. The more I hear him talk the more I despise him.

They do sell replicas; although I don't see one with Z's name on it. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=detroit+red+wings+stanley+cup+ring+2008&_sacat=0&_odkw=detroit+red+wings+stanley+cup+ring&_osacat=0&_from=R40

No. Just pointing out what metrics are available and that some take into account when making that decision. Obviously he can win with a -2, why not a +25?
-
That's been my fear; that he might not get the nods because his achievements would rival that of Orr's. Did anyone actually read the article? I don't see any reason why he can't win. He is tied for the best +/- there is; regardless of how useless that stat is. One of the three tied with a +25 is Ian White. He doesn't have 50 pts, but this isn't the Art Ross. He is still having a solid year and is in the top 10 for goals by defenseman. Not to mention all that stuff that was covered in the article. I thought it was funny the video clip had the analysts picking Weber and Karlsson, while the article pegs Lids as the winner.

LGRW! I wonder who's starting in net?
