Wings Make Offer to Danny D!

Very, very big point here to be taken. Some may think he's going to be shiny and flashy, but that is not Danny DeKeyser. You don't hear much of his name because he doesn't make much mistakes. He plays a very basic game, but as a defensive defensemen, that's an outstanding quality. Of course you'll recognize when he makes a shut-down move, but many of the times, plays are forgotten on the defensive side of the game.

Has the Detroit diamond lost it's shine?

The diamond could've lost it's shine but it's not the only influential factor there. We just aren't seen as a contender right now because we're in the middle of a transition year. I don't know how anyone could've looked at that team on paper, and said, "Hey, Wings are winning the cup this year." Hell, most people said we won't make the playoffs. Haters gonna hate.

Ray Shero making the NHL his *****

http://blogs.thescore.com/nhl/2013/03/28/5-reasons-the-iginla-morrow-and-murray-trades-could-be-a-bad-thing-for-this-years-penguins/ Highlighting the reasons: They got older They got slower There’s not enough puck to go around Too many (leaders) and not enough (people doing the grunt work) Too much pressure And yes, the pens just got ******* loaded. They better win a cup or it's all down the drain as I highly doubt they will be able to afford all of these UFA/RFA's this off-season.

Yep, you're correct. He originally was drafted as a forward but had more value when moved to defense because of how well he played. They kept him on the back-end and he just became a "defensemen." Right now his role reminds me of the old "rovers" back in the day.

Ray Shero making the NHL his *****

He got 3 players: Iginla, Morrow, and Murray What did he give up? 3 prospects (including one of their highest defensive prospects) 1 first round draft pick in one of the deepest classes we've seen of recent 2 second round draft picks in one of the deepest classes we've seen of recent 1 fifth round draft pick I'm sorry but the only real big move I like was Iginla. It's nice and never a bad thing to add in two captains and a big defensemen but man did he give up some future.

Wings Make Offer to Danny D!

He has an agent for a reason, and that's to make him look. As an agent, you are not going to allow your client to simply "slap" the other 29 franchises and not even give them a chance to field offers to your client. It makes you, and your client look like complete assholes. If he *DID* sign with Detroit, and god forbid things went south, he would NOT want that stain on his resume that he didn't even give anyone the chance to sway him. I'm not sure what spot Detroit went, but he started fielding offers yesterday and Detroit came today, meaning, they could've been one of the last offers fielded. "Hey Danny, Listen, you can't simply sign with Detroit, we need to do this the right way and field offers from all franchises. Hey, let me tell you this, we'll field offers from the other teams and then Detroit will be the last to field an offer. That way, you can compare their contract and promises to the others and make a sound decision on your future. How's that sound, kiddo?!"

God that first line is going to be rough to play against.... absolutely no space with Burns and Thornton together on a line. They have been doing better of recent so no better time to remind them to stay down there! Good job HT as always!

This feels all too familiar of the Suter situation though. God, I still remember those tweets the night before saying Suter to Detroit! We were all ready and then BAM. Man, whoever called it Suteritis, they hit the nail on the head.

Wings Make Offer to Danny D!

They're reporting late tomorrow - early friday now. I really thought he was fielding all of his offers yesterday and was surprised to find out that he was fielding more offers today, especially the Wings (not that I think this is bad, i'd rather go later in the lineup than sooner.)

Red Wings lead NHL in man-games lost to injury

Speaks volumes on our prospects, character of our team, and most importantly our coaching staff. I tip my hat off to the crew for making something out of this team. At the beginning of the season, people thought this was the year we would finally feel the transition stages. From the injuries we've endured and losing Lidstrom, Rafi, and Stuart on the backend.. wow... can't even complain about this team.

Wings Make Offer to Danny D!

Lashoff impressed people, but he had prior experience. He had played many games at the OHL level, and played with the Griffins previously. He played a total of 161 games for the Griffins including his 36 games this season before his call-up. I'm not saying Danny D can't be like Lashoff, but we can't expect him to BE a Lashoff from the start because he didn't have that prior experience. If he came to the Wings, I think the Wings would do the same exact thing that Tampa Bay is doing with Andrej Sustr. He is participating in their practices, will play in a few games and then get evaluated. His contract didn't include guaranteed playing time and I highly doubt Danny DeKeyser's will. You just can't come in and expect franchises to give you playing time when you only have NCAA playing experience. You, yourself, are setting yourself up for failure developmentally. Confidence is a HUGE thing in sports, and a newly found prospect stepping into the league with top pairing minutes could be VERY detrimental to their development. Originally when he first started coming to summer camps, the Wings thought he was a forward because of how silky smooth he can skate. The dude can skate like no other, go check his highlight reels. Decent first pass (seriously people, don't think he's Lidstrom with outlet passes... it's not his game) and sometimes will play the body. The best thing about him? He plays the basics, he plays responsible defense, he doesn't take chances, he's VERYY content with just doing the right things. Many think he will step into his upcoming team and be really shiny and make a lot of noise... it's not about that, it's about being responsible and sound. That... is Danny DeKeyser. You don't notice him much, and that's good as a defensemen, you notice when they make mistakes.

I can agree with this. Nyquist shows that he can be a good player, but he seriously needs to get stronger on the puck. It was way too easy for defenders to give him a little push and he would fall right off of it. Tatar, while similar structure (5'10 182 compared to 5'11 185 nyquist) to nyquist just seems far harder to get off of the puck. He can drive the net harder, and I see more of a spark from him than I do Nyquist. Not that i'm looking down on Nyquist and see no hope for him, but he NEEDS to be stronger on the puck. Tatar to me, is like a Helmer to this team, he's a sparkplug. When he's playing, the team plays faster. He just ignites the engine like Helmer. I haven't seen that from Nyquist, but Nyquist's 2-way game is worlds ahead of Tatar's, in my opinion.

Exactly what Carman said. You make some good points but what you fail to realize is that athletes also have the chance to get their degree alongside playing professionally. It is the same way a member of the military can get their degree while still serving actively in the service. All because you're doing something, doesn't mean you can't continue your college success. There is numerous routes for professional athletes and celebrities to get their education while doing something they passionately love.
