Absolutely and the proof is in the pudding. I'm sorry but there is zero percent chance Larry Murphy taped that Nashville intro while under the influence, yet he still was rambling, mumbling, and falling over his own words. He simply just had a little trouble getting what he wanted out sometimes. I can do the same thing time to time, I can understand this. Anyone does. He just did it at a more accelerated rate which makes me think he actually had a problem. I don't think awkwardness played a huge role, but it could have been influential. He did play professional hockey in front of millions, and has been on the air for over 10 years now, I can't say he still has the jitters being in-front of the camera. I think the biggest thing is what VM just said. I would HATE for these rumors to get into the media and run rampant.

He isn't expected to start making announcements until at earliest tomorrow is from what i've heard. The timeline has been around Wednesday-Thursday'ish with the possibility of a Friday announcement (unlikely). It seems like he got to field all his offers today, will most likely spend tonight and tomorrow looking over them and deciding with his agent and then a late announcement Wednesday night or Thursday morning. If it's a real hard choice, it will most likely be Thursday night - Friday morning.

Guys, we should probably just close this dang thread. Iggy doesn't have any interest into coming to Detroit. It was rumored that we were apart of his list, but it's been more than reported now that Detroit certainly isn't in his list.

It's not that people are over-rating him or calling him the next coming of Jesus. It's the fact that you can secure a potential top 3-5 defensive player for the price of FREE. You don't get top 4 defensemen growing on trees, none the less for the price of an ELC. That my friends, is why he is getting so much attention right now. No one thinks he is going to step in and give this team the push over the edge, but he certainly can help boost this blue line within the next 1-2 years.

Grand Rapids doesn't play until Thursday the 28th against San Antonio. That should be his first game and when we'll really know. I doubt they'll be releasing anything major other than videos of "hello, how do you like it?" until then.

I'm really starting to believe Edmonton is where he's going to sign. At the beginning of this game Ken Daniels had covered Danny DeKeyser and Jerome Iginla. Said that Jerome didn't have any interest in Detroit and that Calgary was asking for 2 good prospects + 1st round pick. For Danny DeKeyser they said that the Wings couldn't promise him top 4 minutes but that he would have opportunity to play. Holland is heading to meet with Danny and his family tomorrow to display his presentation. They said Edmonton was pushing really hard for him... offering top 2 minutes and Schultz had been texting him saying to come there. Plus, we all know Edmonton has others up their sleeve waiting and/or already calling also.

I can completely agree with you, but in this situation, it's because the Penguins have the thick pipeline of quality defensive prospects. Many franchises don't have that luxury so for the majority, they can't just keep handing out their good prospects. I love the philosophy of building your team through the draft; it's the most efficient way to keep your team successful over-time in my opinion. Like I said though, it really depends on the pipeline and the organization. Luckily, the Penguins are in a good space right now with their roster, and they can make movements like this. I also think that continued success measures this a lot. A team like Detroit with continued success is going to continue to draft higher rounds, which means their luxury of finding a good prospect or franchise prospect is low (luckily we have great scouting and development programs that help us). I feel like i'm spewing things now, so i'll just shut up though :]

I wasn't going against the motion that we should be looking at pick returns, i'd be more than okay with that. What I was saying is that Pittsburgh gave up one of their most highly touted defensive prospects for Brendan Morrow. You were talking about not giving up your future, right? That's why I said they were kind a dealing away their future because it was a big prospect for them. When people were talking about trimming fat, I just wanted to say it wasn't trimming fat, they were trimming away good pieces of meat

I do believe that Morrow was one of their highly looked at prospects though. Penguin fans (we know they like to overrate their prospects) had him rated as one of their top, if not, top defensive prospect. The recent moves haven't been moving fat though, that's the thing. It's been moving picks and it's probably the main thing teams are gunning for this off-season due to the deep draft class.

What's with all the Monster hate on here? He played lights out the one game he came in place of Jimmy when he wasn't expected and he got left out to dry the latest game in the 3rd. As much as he isn't Jimmy, he can still be a capable back-up and provide this team with the chance to win. The team just needs to show up in front of him also.
