They were saying 2 prospects + a pick last night and this morning. I'm guessing it would be a main prospect, secondary, and then a 2nd-3rd round pick. I don't think they'll get a 1st out of a rental, that is unless they roll Iggy to a new contract then dish it. It would have to be a sign and trade agreed with Iggy.

Just remembered that DeKeyser will have the opportunity to play in a Winter Classic next year have he sign with the Wings. Playing at the big house in an original 6 winter classic in front of friends and family? Sheeeeeeeeez sign it. Also, Schultz didn't sign for ice time. Its been quoted numerous times that he was more than willing to go play in the A. Sustr just signed his contract in Tampa Bay without anything guaranteed. Guaranteed ice time is fabricated idea that forum posters talk about. Young players don't have the leverage to tell franchises where they want to play, especially when they're unproven at that level and without AHL experience.

Honestly, Pierre gets a lot of hate because of his "love" for the Penguins but that man has the sickest amount of hockey knowledge on this earth. There is no question in my mind that Pierre is one of the most knowledgeable and passionate hockey commentators. Would I want him on FSD? No. He wouldn't be good working or a single team, but he does a damn good job at working national games. He has the knowledge and can talk the game. Jim Nill's impression of DeKeyser: Hockeys Future: Although with the HF Analysis, I would say that his offensive side is not that stellar. He isn't known to being an offensive player, way more stay at home. His biggest quality would most likely be his smooth skating. For how big he is (6'3" ~210-200) he can really move smoothly around the ice. His skating used to be pretty... rough.. but he made some great improvements coming into his junior year.

Out of the new list, I can see some possibilities. Detroit - We already know all the reasons. StL - I could have seen it, but last I remembered they didn't sign Jim Nill's son. ANA - Brian Burke was heavily after him with Toronto. It is only fitting that he would now push for Anaheim to get him while working as a scout. EDM - Long talented roster. He would fit in with the youngster group there. They have Wayne Gretzky and Paul Coffey making phone calls for them. Nashville - One of his buddies from WMU got drafted to Nashville. He would be joining him. For the life of me... I can't remember which... It's really surprising to see Tampa Bay dropping out of contenders for Danny from the looks of it. It would most likely hang on that they just secured Andrej Sustr, but I wouldn't imagine Stevie just dropping out of this race. Also, from HFB where I got that list:

Last I checked, that is how they're working it. The wildcards compete and then the winner goes to the other conference for the playoffs to even things out. So yes, you would be right and there could be a final with two teams being from the East.

Yep, he's heading to Toronto to meet up with his agent and start sifting through the offers. We can only pray that he wants to come here. I mean.. the guy has a Wings jersey dawned in the window of his dorm room, wears the Winged Wheel around the campus of WMU, and has grown up watching the team. No team can honestly offer him more. This is absolute garbage. We should voice our opinion to FSD and let them know that they made the wrong choice here. While Murphy wasn't the smoothest talker, he knew what he was talking about and gave an inside edition on things concerning the franchise. It was awesome having Murph and Mickey on the crew to speak on behalf of their times with the organization. I'm honestly upset about this decision! I don't believe for a second that ratings had ANYTHING to do with this.

You know what I just noticed and is absolutely sad? Brunner hasn't scored in what 11-12 games? Yet, he still holds #1 on the team with 10. Someone should've caught him.

St.Louis needed to trim away from fat at the winger position because of Oshie coming back I believe. They couldn't get another player back in return because of roster situation. I believe D'agostini has been a healthy scratch lately so this just provides him with some possible ice-time.

He doesn't want Brunner to go against the Getzlaf line, which is arguably one of the best top lines in this league. Cleary is more veteran'ed in this league and can handle them better than Brunner can at this moment. BB likes to roll all 4 lines, so it's good to pull Brunner down to the third and give them some scoring advantage. That is, saying that Brunner can produce at that level right now. He could use some of the quickness the 3rd line provides.

Absolutely it's all on Holland but somethings are just out of his reach. Every team is going to be gunning for DeKeyser. We just have to rely on Holland pushing the right buttons. I wouldn't say guaranteed NHL ice-time is the sure-shot thing with signing DeKeyser. Look at Sustr for example, Steve Yzerman came out and made it known that this contract wasn't including guaranteed NHL ice-time. Sustr is planning on arriving at TB HQ after their road trip and start conducting practices and evaluation. Granted, DeKeyser is more developed than Sustr, still it goes to show that either of them actually require NHL time within their contract. If you read what I had posted a little earlier you can see that I state that DeKeyser stated that he didn't mind sitting another year out of the NHL if he felt his body wasn't big enough for the NHL. He wanted to smooth out the edges of his game before stepping within the big leagues. That's great character, and something that belongs within the Detroit franchise. We can look at it this way also: if DeKeyser comes to Detroit, Holland doesn't have to worry about getting that stay-at-home defensemen we're all screaming about. He can focus strictly on getting the top 6 scoring help. This allows for him to trade off some of our fat at defense and include some prospects and get a gain. Granted, we can't get the most oustanding return right now, we do have some pieces to move and DeKeyser would help moving them along for what we need. **EDIT** Also, I'm not absolutely saying that DeKeyser is a top-4 puck moving stay at home defensemen but he sure as hell has the potential to be one fairly quick. Holland wouldn't have to worry about getting that top-4 defense men that we're all looking for, DeKeyser would be within the system and possibly top 4 material within a year or two. Allows for the others to mature and our blueline will be looking HEALTHY in a few.

These next two games scare the crap out of me, but we normally show up to play when we're playing the big dogs. I don't even want to predict anything, just don't drive me into insanity tonight.

No, don't get it wrong. Sustr's ceiling is supposed to surpass that of Danny DeKeysers. Only, they project that Danny DeKeyser is more matured and developed at this current time. Sustr needs a year or two to develop his game, but that's expected in reality. DeKeyser took a HUGE step in his game going from Junior to Senior year. He still says that if he feels at the end of this season, his body isn't up to shape to NHL standards he would have no problem waiting it out and playing another year before hitting the big show. He's very adamant about being ready for the NHL and not jumping the gun too early. The only thing that really scares me about Tampa Bay is: a.) They have Steve Yzerman as their GM now. We got to experience Yzerman throughout his playing years. We look to him as our baby Jesus basically (I do). I would LOVE to play hockey under Steve Yzerman, no doubt about it. b.) They have a younger group of players and lifestyle off the ice. c.) They have an up and coming team, with a huge blueline. d.) His defensive partner through his career and currently, is with Tampa Bay. He would beable to stick with him. Luckily for US: a.) He has played under Jeff Blashill previously with Western. Jeff Blashill now coaches the Griffins, so he would have experience with the coach. b.) He wants to be fully developed and he wants to be in a good development camp; the wings can supply that c.) He grew up watching the Wings d.) Jim Nill is close with his family, and I believe he has played hockey with Nill's son. e.) He is most likely dating, or screwing around with the ladies near WMU right now. He is a younger player. He can play for the Red Wings, his childhood team, and be local to all the friends and girls he knows. He could continue relationships that he previously has right now (I can't for sure say he has one right now, but i'm almost positive he does.) We all know how much relationships can play apart in signings, look no further than Parise and Suter. f.) **edit** oh yeah, he would continue playing at the Joe, which he's experienced so much memories with WMU. g.) He see's his childhood team having defensive troubles right now. He knows he can plug a very big hole in that defense right now. Wouldn't you love to be that guy your team needed? You know they just lost out on Suter. You know they didn't get Sustr. You know the free agent market is weak for defensemen. You could boost your team's defensive core with them losing no assets.

He wasn't trying to be Superman. He took it very easily up until that point. When he was skating before and after and then finally with the team during practice he said he was gradually increasing his workload. He did that all the way up until he felt like there was no more practice could do, but he was still unsure how it was going to be during an actual game because it's two completely different situations. He tried pushing it full-force to simulate a game and that's when it acted up. It's good he sat out and tried pushing it before a game rather than during a game. Not only could he have gotten injured worse in a game, he also would've ate up a roster spot that night that could've been used for the full 60 instead of the first 10. We all know it's frustrating but Helmer's just as frustrated as anyone of us, you can read it within his quotes. The boy loves this sport and he gives it his all every shift, i'm sure he isn't trying to sabotage getting back into it in any way or shape. He wants to be out there, but he wants to be sure he can play continuous games in a row.

Well this is good to hear at least. From the quotes i've been hearing recently, it wasn't even known anymore that the Leafs and Red Wings were playing next year (even though they were quoted saying that it would simply just be pushed back a year). Bettman was quoted saying that he wasn't sure about next years Winter Classic and that because of this lockout, they wanted to bring in 2 more outdoor games. One located on the East coast, and one on the West coast, completely taking away from the shine of the Winter Classic. If they seriously turn this "Winter Classic" into a gonger like "Hockey Day in America v2.0" i'm going to freak. One event, one game, let it get national spotlight. Leave the numerous games to Hockey Day in America....
