Jensen out till December/January after fight with Tyler Bertuzzi
evilzyme replied to Greatness=PavelDatsyuk's topic in General
I remember this happening a bit ago. Heard he got some talkings after the incident. Tyler was doing his job and was excelling at it. Like others have stated, Jensen could've skated away like any other player in the same situation. You need to learn to hold your emotions in, even when you're getting chirped at. It's apart of the game baby. -

Yep, you're good. -
Jarnkrok has had a few games in for the Griffs near the end of the season I believe. He returned and stated that the experience was great but he now understands that he needs to get much stronger and bigger; the normal stuff. Pulkky played near the end also and in the playoffs until Goose and Andersson came back IIRC. I was at work during the game but caught the highlights via the main website and caught some tweets by Ken Kal. If Tatar is Calder eligible, watch out. Kid just wants to keep proving and you gotta love it. Heard Crosby got pissy and slashed Jarnkrok after he finished a check on em. Apparently Smitty had challenged Sid to go. Howard looks really clean from what I can see. His positioning is rock solid and his transitions are smooth. He's got a Quick stance going on; his vision almost hip height looking between legs. I've seen Quick normally use it; makes him real deadly.

Pens lost night to my knowledge with Malkin playing. Tonight they have Crosby, kunitz, orpik and someone else big playing. I'm liking the 3rd line of tats, Luke and Landon. Should be a good one. Unfortunately I'll be working but I got thursday night off and that's when they'll be on television! -
Way to be Malik. He's got numerous amounts of support from us. We WANT Tatar on our team. I would be floored if he got moved. Tatar brings a different dimension than what we have. A true goal-scorer. He's better than Damien Brunner. He's more effective at the NHL level than Brunner. He's just got that sense in him. He drives towards the puck. It's one of the best qualities I find of him. He just wants the frickin puck. If he's got eyes on it, he's gunning for it. As towards his attitude, like others have stated, he's just young. If you follow him on Twitter or have seen videos of him; he's like a little frat euro-boy. As for his cocky-ness/confidence; goal-scorers need that. Some are more humble than others, but you need that sense of confidence if you're going to keep potting em in the back of the net. I can't believe some are calling for Hollands head without any actual source for it. Holland was going to match any single offer-sheet that was going to come Nyquist's way. He's talked how Nyquist and Tatar should both be on the roster this upcoming season. How they were influential on this previous season.

The media should have better things to write about than this. Training camps just started. A non-story that should be dealt with internally. My two cents!

I'm surprised no one posted the latest on him but I suppose because most honestly don't care anymore. Anyways, Sheeny came out and said that Brunner is open to any team right now and is still looking for a job. Right now the basis is that he will start the season with EV zug and will hope to join the NHL at a later date during the season. He played his cards all wrong. I may blame his agent but in reality Brunner didn't want to re up with Detroit and he still would've been on this magical train ride.

I don't think it was on a national scale, more of a ?bigger? newspaper having an award for being the best Russian in the NHL; Datsyuk just won that but I heard he spoke against the nations new anti-*** laws during the award ceremony. Anyways it could go either way but there is some good candidates for the job.
-
I've been watching em as they were released, and I completely agree that they've been awesome. Landon gets chirped quite a few times throughout the series but has some decent yapps back. Tatar is just young and full of himself, but that's good for goal scorers. If you're out there to score goals, you need all of the confidence in the world, with a side of ego. I believe they plan on releasing these on DVD also.

Yep, this is simply an alumni/celebrity game to raise money during training camp in Traverse City. The roster seemed to have some fun names on it so I was passing along the info. Thanks for that ogre

Signed Joakim Andersson re-signs, 2yrs, $1.465m ($732,500k cap hit)
evilzyme replied to Ram's topic in General
Babcock said in an phone interview the other day that his center group would be Datsyuk, Weiss, Helmer on the 3rd and Andersson on the 4th. Granted he's heavily relying on helms health. Said Andersson played great and held the group but still in his mind helmer is the best 3C in the league. Would love for Andy on the 4th. -

I could see them pushing him to play more during the pre-season to try and get him acclimated as fast as possible. He's had more than enough time, on top of development camp, to start pushing his workouts right now (Which he said he was!). By training camp he should be in full drills and see how it runs then. If everything goes good, plug him into more pre-season games and lets get at it in October. It would be a workout for Scott chasing down Helmer haha. I frickin miss Helmer like no other
-
Could be training there? You should know better than many on where he would normally conduct off season training
-
This was my biggest problem with him. I thought Babcock did him more justice placing him on the 3rd line with 2 talented players that could compliment him. He couldn't handle top pairings, it was just that simple. The same inside leg to outside while coming along the boards within the zone. He did it every single time and it was poked or he just got pushed off the puck. He needs to learn his timing and space within the NHL and Babcock was allowing him to do this against the bottom 4. It was smart. He had a great playmaker in Nyquist and Andersson who could play hard in the corners and battle the crease. Both of those players play a great 200 ft game and could make up for Brunner's defensive game. Brunner did step it up defensively later in the season. He could actually account for men decently in the zone and pick whom he needed to cover. He started to finish checks, play the body, and overall I thought he was putting in some damn good effort for his first season (we know the other excuses). I guess I just underestimated his personality. I thought he was comfortable and wouldn't want to move out of a new locker room in a league that he just came to. Not to mention, he came to a decorated franchise with lots of love from the fans. Not only that but he has one of the best coaches teaching him how to play the game and some of the most talented players. Oh well though!

Pierre McGuire's past that NBC doesn't want you to know about
evilzyme replied to evilmrt's topic in General
So you're okay with a coach that is willing to beat a fan with their own shoe... but you think McGuire is a total wiener because he was full of himself. That just screams something wrong to me, but to each their own. On the topic... people can change. Obviously there were some horrible role models in the past, but it doesn't mean they can't change and still provide substance to the world. McGuire and Milbury each have their own set of problems, but each has their own job right now because of their ability to change and provide a personality to the audience. We may not respect them, nor do we, but there are people out there that like them. New fans will appreciate McGuire's encyclopedia of hockey knowledge of players past. New fans can enjoy Milbury's uncanned blunt opinion. They don't need to know their past, as long as it isn't directly affecting their future. McGuire obviously got fired, as well did Milbury. They just found new spots in a sport they both enjoy. Ones they can also handle. -
I think popularity is great amongst the State. I mean, I can find random people at events and speak some good hockey with them. I can always run into atleast one person that actually is knowledgeable about the team and sometimes I can find someone whom can really speak about the pipeline and future. It may not be at the same level it was prior in the 90s but it certainly is still there. Look at USA Hockey, we're second in registered players only down by like 2,000 IIRC to Minnesota, aka the State of Hockey. After Michigan and Minnesota it drops off pretty nicely and then it goes within "divisions" basically. Hockey simply doesn't get it's full due in America, so it always will take the backseat in media coverage and what not.

Didn't Carolina express interest in him a little ago? If they still got it, I see him going to Carolina for sure. They need to clear cap space but apparently they had reached out to a FA, they kinda declined it due to term and money? And now they are saying that that free agent wants to come to Carolina now and had reached out to them but in order to sign them they need to clear cap space. Makes sense if its Brunner. They expressed interest early, he could've declined when asking for a long term high price tag then when he realized the market was small for himself reput himself out there for them. Of course Carolina would make a big deal over a signing like this also. What makes it more likely is that everyone had thought it would be Jagr they were speaking on behalf of. Jagr's agent apparently confirmed that he isn't going to CAR.

They had invited Danny D on an optional basis. If he wanted to attend, he was more than welcome to and would be welcomed to help train and advise the youngsters in the pipeline. Originally it was reported that he was going to attend in that role but is not currently anymore. I'm not sure what had happened between those dates or anything. I just know that it was optional for him, and that was their plan heading into it. Mike Babcock's kid has been there for at least the past few years. It has to be nice being able to share the ice with some of the best prospects and learning from them. On top of dealing with an outstanding group of advisers. Helmer's true test won't be until around the 12-13th after they play their intra squad scrimmage on the 12th. I would have to believe that's when he'll really push it and be able to see where he stands. That is, of course, if he doesn't re-agitate beforehand.

#RedWings will buy out D Carlo Colaiacovo. F Todd Bertuzzi will not be bought out. -- Helene St. James (@HeleneStJames)

It's being reported that Alfie will be Franzen and Weiss on the 2nd line and Abby will remain on the first line with Zett and Pasha.

I don't see him ever leaving Ottawa. If anything he's using Detroit and Boston as leverage chips. I'd see him retiring before dawning another sweater
-
Looks like they don't want to buy out any forwards according to her latest article
