2013 BlueAdams Where Are You, Line Thread

Watching the past 2 games this is what I would do. It's apparent Z and Brunner have chemistry together, they've been finding each other all game and it just looks natural. Almost euro-twin in their prime days. It's probably eating Pasha apart that his lover has a new lover. Okay, enough with the silly stuff. Franzen-Hank-Brunner (hank can continue to center the first line, him and brunner work the boards and perimeter while franzen works the crease trying to pull defensemen in close. Both hank and brunner have the capability to shoot from the perimeter, along with pushing within the dirty areas.) Filp-Pasha-Cleary (throw pasha on the 2nd line, he would eat up majority of 2nd line centers easily, him and filp have unreal chemistry and will act as another duo. Cleary can play the net-front presence and he has great hand-eye. During the open practice on Friday he was going 10/10 on deflections from all angles. so once again, this allows 2 players to play the perimeter while one forces play within the slot) Bert-Helmer-Tootoo (whoa! what did I do here? energy frickin line. Helmer playing as the outstanding 3rd line center he is, while bert and tootoo cause havok. they can easily move the puck and become a new grind line for us) Eaves-Abby-Sammy (yes, I just threw sammy on the 4th line but I find him to be more effective here. Abby and Eaves bring a great dimension and Sammy evens it out) Kronner-Lashoff White-Smith Quincey-???? Basically, one rookie with a veteran side. I absolutely hate the Quincey and Smith pairing, they're both prone to mistakes and neither can pick up the slack for one another. I hate putting Smith in this position, and would much rather him play with White.

    New Defenseman: Guess who?

it doesn't need to be a UFA, Holland could very well be dishing out pieces that are causing logjams at the front end. Ofcourse it's going to be fkn Lebda... Holland just LOVES giving chances

    Lashoff

Really surprised Babcock was throwing that much ice-time at him, but he deserved it. Can't wait to see more tonight, boy was hopped up on adrenaline last night and should be tonight with the home opening crowd and player introductions.

    Our 'Special' Teams

The PK needs some help, but i'm personally loving the powerplay. They didn't pot em, but my god they were putting on the pressure. Bobro was just playing good last night and shut the door, it's expected. He's one of the few goalies that was actively playing hockey during the lockout. He's used to squaring to the shooters and he is used to tracking the puck. Majority of the other goaltenders in this league need to get used to tracking and squaring up again. Other than that, I think our execution was great last night on the powerplay. We were dishing em, opening lanes, and throwing 1 timer after 1 timer on the net. That's a lot better than passing passing passing oh my god turn-over because someone was in the lane. Improvements already showing within the first 2 games on the powerplay? Good enough for me. Tom Renney is doing his job, let him make these guys flourish on the power play.

oh no, smith wasn't pinching on that play, he simply was beat out and didn't have the wheels to run with him. i was simply pointing out that smith was prone to mistakes this season as he learns what he can and can't do within the NHL. Quincey unfortunately, so far hasn't proven that he is willing to be counted on. Throwing those two together on a pairing is bad news currently, hopefully Quincey can pick it up

i blame the pairing of quincey and smith on that personally. quincey is not going to take up smith's mistakes, and vice-versa. smith needs a more stay at home pairing. he needs to have the freedom to run into the play, it's his specialty. granted we know he's going to make mistakes, we should also prepare for those mistakes.

he's getting a little better throughout the game, but he caused some turnovers during the first portion of the game. face-off wise not that good. i have to disagree with you there, i think our powerplay has looked real good. we look hungry on the pucks and have great puck movement. i personally like it and think renny has been bringing some improvements to the pp

    2013 Calder Race

Besides just posting this article, I thought it would be good to start up a discussion on the Calder race for this season. We know the we have atleast one player that will be in the race; Brendan Smith. Unfortunately, I don't believe Damien "Gunner" Brunner will be eligible for it, considering I believe either IS or will be 26 "at the start of the season." Justin Schultz is a clear #1 pick right now due to his unbelievable performance in the AHL during the lockout, leading even RNH. Grunland with the 2nd pick, which we all could see. I really think we'll see Brendan Smith closer to the race than 10th (9th with the drop of Strome). Anyways, here's the article to start the discussion; http://lastwordonsports.com/2013/01/17/top-shelf-prospects-calder-trophy-2013-predictions/

that and mckenzie threw brendan smith into the boards. smith's face was nearly at the mid-section where the glass meets the boards. tootoo came at mckenzie and then mckenzie threw it back at tootoo. pretty sure we'll see someone face off with him tonight, whether it be smith or tootoo. mackenzie or mckenzie, whatever!

when helmer and bert return, I think this team turns around completely. that third line is essential to this team. i think it's going to cause a lot of problems to majority of 3rd lines in this league. they bring something that many 3rd lines can't match. defense is brutal, no one can deny that but it also motivates players. luckily we have some great 2-way players that are well spread out throughout the lines that hopefully can make it easier on the back end. there was no excuse for saturday's game, st.louis was allowed to throw outlet passes right down the middle like it was free range. we stay healthy and i hold to my word that we'll do some damage.

we have to use him as value, we can't send him down. we need the 4th line center right now until helmer comes back. unfortunately, he'll be a healthy scratch until we can package him or we're willing to lose him for nothing. he won't pass waivers. i really had hopes that he improved during the off-season but during the open practice on friday he had pissed me off, and quite frankly his play hasn't said anything so far. he has that punk attitude where he thinks he rates more than he has earned. just my opinion though.

and the fact that pasha is the natural center compared to hank being the natural winger. the stats show, pasha is the better center of the two. pasha would rather play make than finish it off. hank has the finishing touch with the play making capability. hank should be winging while pasha is creating space and running the 2-way game. we looked damn good that period, at first it was very disgusting but we shaped it up and had some moments where we looked real good. i'm still holding to my words that this lineup is going to impress a lot of people, just let them get into things.

Bert is Back! Mono test was false positive.

ah luckily for sammy they were doing 1T drills from all angles on both sides which meant there was no goalie to shoot into. he was on his off-hand so he would have to set the puck on the blade before releasing but he was crisping em top cheese all day with the occasional bar down. zetty pulled a perfect 1T bardown. the crowd loved it haha.

but we have 3pm games, along with 7pm games to get us to 8pm!!! i'm currently playing NHL 13 to feed my addiction, then i'm going to be watching chicago v. la on my living room television, bringing my secondary television from my gaming room into the living room which will have gamecenter live on xbox rolling, which will give me the ability to split screen 2 games, so i'll be rolling 3 games from 3pm - 7pm. At 7pm i'm rolling to bdubs to start pre-gaming and getting ready for the game! AWWW YEAH JUST GET ME TO 3 PM BOYS!!

    Knuble Good Fit For Wings?

He actually said that he didn't want to sign a 2-way contract. When training camp first began he stated that he was open to thinking about it, but in the end he wanted to keep his options open. When signing the 25 game pro try out he can simply play those 25 games out, and then either re-sign another PTO or move on to bigger and better things. It's a good move by Knuble and classy move from the front office to give him that chance.

4-3 Wings, but it will be a hard fought battle. I think we'll go into the 3rd period down by a goal or two, but Babcock and the new captain steady the ship for an outstanding season opener win. Expected goals from Damien "The Gunner" Brunner (1G/1A), Pasha (1G/1A), Cleary (1G) and Smith (1G/1A). Big game boys, let's start this season right and start the upsets early on.

    Eaves Cleared to Play

hey guys, I finally just got back to Howell after spending the day with my parents and heading to the Joe to watch the open practice. I'll be uploading some pictures from it later, but they aren't that impressive . I watched eaves a lot today, he was rolling on the PK unit and he looked GREAT. For as long as he hasn't been with the team, my GOD he looked flawless out there. He was working the top on the PK, rolling between the two defensemen trying to cut their lanes, and he certainly brought smiles to the whole team with his presence out there. they were working their new power play setup, which actually looks decent. Basically, it's EDM's shoot down low and crash the net version. From what they were doing today, it looks like Franzen in the crease with Brunner and Datsyuk downlow on both sides of Mule. Zetterberg and Kronner were at the point. They would cycle and draw out the defensemen to make a clear, inwhich then they would feed the 1T and crash on it. Jimmy and Monster both looked very good. Mule and Brendan Smith were fooling around inwhich Smith got knocked down, lid came off even haha. The crowd started cheering and Smith started waving his flow. It was fun watching Eaves, Pasha, Filp, and Mule play 3 on 1 keep away. All in all a very good practice and they looked outstanding out there. I certainly can't wait til tomorrow!
