I still don't understand the Holland hate. It's not like the man can force the hand of free agents. He tried his best, and obviously put in some damn effort while doing so. He was in talks with numerous different agents, traveled to go visit them, and in the end they just didn't choose him. If anything, this off-season made me smile because he was so aggressive compared to previous seasons.

Absolutely, some time with a good goalie coach and development while in the AHL and it can easily be improved. I've always heard he is pretty dang fast and his movement is smooth. I'm loving it!

because having a good amount of depth in forwards is a bad thing. i'm pretty sure we could always use some forward depth every season when we get nailed with the injury bug and it destroys it. maybe that lack of scoring? i'm pretty sure i've never met a coach that never wanted to bring more skill to the table. do we need defense? absolutely but this isn't concerning the defense in this current topic. I would easily throw prospects (skilled potential) at EDM to bring a skilled forward that has chemistry with two of our current teammates. you act like we want to trade franzen for omark.

Listen, we all know Franzen's work ethic. Like I said though, you say he's a floating whoms just benefiting but what case can you present that it's exactly that. Show me some videos of him just floating with Z and B, and just cashing in. I don't agree with that statement at all. Both of us can argue all day about it. You can say it's not worth it, another person will say he'll be worth it. We can run this as Semin v2.0. I'll just agree to disagree. I believe we'll re-sign him before his contract is up. I know it's messy due to the CBA and nothing can be signed currently but come the day of agreement, if it's late, I see them re-signing right away and Brunner staying with the organization. I doubt he would just cash in and cheat the franchise like that. He wanted to come to GRR, they denied him. Now he gets to play alongside with one of our best top 6 players, and possibly (more than likely) captain. After developing that chemistry and friendship with his linemate, I doubt he'll just want to go run off to another franchise. He'll atleast give Detroit a shot, atleast I hope...

some players thrive in different systems and with a different environment. This is to include whom they are surrounded with in the locker room. Similar to Leino, he thrived with Philly, unlike he did here. Some players just need that change of environment in their life. It's wrong to write someone off like this, especially when visible chemistry is shown. Maybe he enjoys playing along side Z and B? Maybe he has more confidence with them? Maybe he likes who they are off the ice and they connect better?

Grifs have found some stupid ways to drop games late. This is #3-4 where they've been up, only to collapse and lose in the end. Gotta continue through with a 60 minute effort boys, don't make me get Babcock over here.

In all honesty though, i'm really happy to see him and Z making something of their line. He has the potential to be our go to man when we need a shooter, and he drives the center of the ice. If you watch nearly any of his replays, the boy cuts into the middle and goes straight for the slot to release a shot on net. I love it, and quite frankly any Wing fan should love it. It's what we're missing currently, inwhich that's someone who is willing to drive to the net. Unfortunately, we're unable to see if this translates into the North American game where physicality is much more prominent. I would've loved for him to be spending this time in Grand Rapids to actually develop a sense of space when dealing with smaller ice sizes. I truly believe he'll make a impact in our game though, and certainly be someone to makes some noise. He's got a great mentor by his side, and the chemistry will already be built by the time this gonger is over with.

Last i've heard, he was apart of the group that rented out the ice and currently are practicing there. From what i've heard, a good deal amount of players that aren't overseas are currently practicing there together.

you're right, it did take the owners to give bettman the clearance on starting the lockout. But you're wrong on the fact that after time passed with the lockout, owners can grow tired of it. It doesn't take all 30 owners to keep it on. It took 30 to get it started. Now there's a committee of only 4 owners with the league, they are responsible for what the owners say and do currently. As every report will tell you, all the owners are not on the same page right now. There's some that want out of the lockout, there's some that want the lockout to continue, and there's some that want to agree on different terms before the new CBA comes out. We can only hope and pray that either they can come together and find middle ground with the players, or we can kiss our season goodbye. I'm hoping that either they get their heads out of their asses, or they overvote and kick a new CBA without all the owners agreeing on it. I'm guessing it's the same way on the players side. Some agree, some want to play, etc. It's wrong to say every single owner feels the same way though, because they aren't all in the same boat right now. I'll dig up every source I can get when I get home, otherwise, we can agree to disagree or agree on that this lockout is retarded. And I hope this didn't come off aggressive or anything. Didn't mean so.

actually, there's been a few confirmed sources that have included the teams that were against the lockout. Reddit even had an executive (from an unknown team but confirmed with the mods) that included a list of the teams that were against the lockout and Detroit has been on everyone one that i've seen. I could see from both perspectives that Mr. I would be for, and against the lockout. While Detroit turns a profit, he would be comfortable as his franchise isn't one of the 18 that aren't turning one. On the other hand, he's apart of the owners that is dishing their profits to help recover the struggling teams. One of the main reasons why Mr.I wouldn't approve of this lockout is that his franchise is apart of the winter classic. Not just any Winter Classic but an O6 Winter Classic between two of the most historic franchises hockey has to offer. Mr. I and the City of Detroit are counting on this Winter Classic. The executive that did the AMA also included that the Winter Classic is the only televised revenue the league actually turns profit for. All the other televised games don't do anything revenue wise for them. He included that on his personal belief, the lockout would end before the Winter Classic just because the league can't afford to miss out on their only event that really helps turn them revenue.

It's not exactly sending down to the minors when it's simply the only way hes going to play hockey in N/A. I believe he is also a +2. I haven't seen any footage of his gameplay, but heard it's pretty decent and he'll must likely run the powerplay with the oilers. I still will wait until he's performing against the best for me to pass judgement on him. Currently, he's just simply playing the same ol hockey he was used to.
