Nothing abdelkader has done in the past two season suggest he should be prompted to the first line.

I was hoping for a locker room pic, if you know what I mean. Hi-O!
-
This is completely ridiculous. Helmer has created a countless number of chances with his own hard work and speed. and statistical note: Helm has the 4th highest shooting % of the top 9 forwards, so you can lay off the "hands of stone" comments.
-
agreed. I just loved watching Homer last night. he was great. His tenacity and hands around the net is unparalleled. The wings better start training someone to replace him; he's going to leave a big hole when he leaves.

This season, I feel neither Helm or Abdelkader have outplayed one another. They're just about equal. But, last season Helm was far, far better than Abdelkader. It's not even close. I think a closer comparison last year, would be Helm to Filppula. Abby was the worst player on the team. Hudler and Modano were the most disappointing, but Abdelkader was the hands down worst. He got most of his points playing with Danny Cleary when he was on fire at the beginning of the season. After that, he had one two goal game late in the year. His playoff performance was, well, would any disagree if I said "horrendous"? Helm, on the hand, was the top Pk'er, second in FO % and helped carry the team when Datsyuk was out. I also not that the line of Draper, Eaves, Helm had been our most consistent performing line the last two years. I remember at the end of the year Helm had some votes for season MVP on this forum, I don't remember the results, but a third liner just getting a vote on this team must tell you something. It was infuriating to watch Eaves, Miller, and Draper rotate last season while Abdelkader got 2nd line minutes and time on the PP. He was even out there a few times as the extra attacker. I really can not figure Babcock's love affair with this guy. Anyways, I will get some negs for this post. some people here think very highly of Abs because 1) He is from Michigan 2) he was drafted in the second round 3) he fights, only one of which is even close to a hockey quality. However, this season Abdelkader has been much better and is one of the more consistent guys out there. He has definitely stepped it up after a terrible season last year. which, really, is what really matters now.

I am admittedly biased, but I think Abby and Helm (Homer if you include him too- his puck handling was good last game) have been the best players in the bottom six. Emmerton has played well enough, but he hasn't been able to create many chances. In the last few games Abby and Helm have created more chances than either of the top-2 lines (not counting PP). Abby is first in hits and sixth in shots (below only the top PP line), and Helm is tied for first in plus-minus. These two are playing, the past 5 games, well above their place(s) on the depth chart. I can't think of any other forwards on the team who are doing the same. I just checked: Helm hasn't been on the ice for an even strength goal against yet.

I agree about the Helm and Abby Part.. I don't know what to make of Nyquist yet, but I am excited to see him play
-
I agree that they have had roughly the same performance this year and I actually didn't say that Helm was out performing Abby. But: Abdekalder has always been projected to be a point producer while Helm has always been projected to be a checker. In this sense, Abdelkader is under performing compared to Helmer.

If I was Helm, I would be pissed that I got demoted to the 4th line. especially, with all of the current underachievers ( Cleary, Bertuzzi,Zetterberg,Abdelkader) If we're trying to shake up the roster, why not put in the guy who has at least earned 2nd line minutes? Bold prediction: the 4th line leads us to a win tonight.
-
I agree. Kronwall and Stuart have not been good and are playing worse than our 3rd pair. Stuart looks especially slow. The odd man rushes, however, seem to come against all three pairs.
-
Nash didn't register one shot on net last night. Bold prediction: Ovie doesn't do much better. this is the first time I get to see Brunnstrom play. If he plays as good as he sounds, look for our 4th line to dominate their 4th and probably their 3rd liners.

If I remeber correctly, he had a goal and two assists in ot last year.

I'm disappointed, I like the old one so much more. I bet a lot of people will continue to buy the old style merchandise. On the other hand, I do think this logo would look good for a commercial airline.

a lot less line juggling.

I think he's worth "only" around 300 million. It seems stupid to me that he would spend half of his net worth on a business that doesn't make any money. Can anyone explain why Hulsizer wants to buy one of these money losing teams so bad?
-
that was an embarassment to 6'4" 240 lb men every where. And why is still acting "hurt" in the penalty box? who are you trying to convince?
-
I was pretty sure Draper should have had an assist on the Eaves empty netter. Didn't Drapes win the faceoff and chip the puck to Eaves?

meh, it's really not that great. There's a few good sub-sections, but it's mostly filled with laundry tips, and cooking recipes.

For everyone saying he has bad hands, his shooting percentage this year was only one percent lower than Zetterberg's. If he took as many shots as Zetts, he would've scored 20 goals. I agree with whoever pointed out that he got all of his points playing with 4th liners, and 0 power play time. I think some team in the league would give him 2nd line centre money and 2nd line pp time. I wouldn't be supprised if we lose him because we can only pay him and play him as a 4th liner

Has anyone ever ask Gordie Howe himself how many he had? that might be interesting. do you think he even cares?
-
I took note of your "typical 4th" comment. These 4 or 5 guys have been getting us a lot of unexpected points lately....and I'm most definetly a Helmer homer too. How 'bout we try, just for once Cleary, Helm , Bertuzzi on the 3rd. So it would look something like this: ZDH Hudler,Flip,Mule Cleary,Helm, Bertuzzi Mo (because he has to play) Draper, Abby/Miller/Eaves

Does anyone know where I can find out how many penalties a player has drawn? I can find how many penalties drawn per 60 minutes, but I can't find the data used to compile that number. I'd just like to compare the Wings penalty +/- to each other and with the rest of the league.
-
I've emailed the contact info at the site, asking them if they could just give me the info I would like. It seems like the best chance I got right now.
-
I'm pretty sure it's penalties drawn per 60 minutes played. If not, guys like helmer and abby would have something close to 70 penalties drawn each. I guess I could take the minutes played by the penalties drawn per 60 minutes. But that is only for even strentgh. I would have to add up all the numbers for even strength, pk and pp for each player. By the time I get that done, they'll have played another game already.

thanks for your continued help but, the last two columns on this page are "ptake/60" and "pdraw/60". are you seeing something different than i am?
