and basically gave away assets to do it. It's a strategic move, but certainly not "unbelievable" lol

Things just got very interesting. Besides the RH shot Ehroff is the definition of what this team needs.

I think Pulinkkinen Jensen and a pick would net us a damn a good player. maybe even tack on a Kindl or an Andersson

Don't worry, there are so many attorneys these days that most most can't find work. I saw Kesler at a Tigers game once with Chris Conner. He's indeed 6'2" and hits a lot, but he looked all of 180 lbs when I saw him. Skinny as a rail. He's a hot head who could learn from Kronwall. He'll be perfect for the Ducks.

We should trade for nerd-laugh Spezza and sign Heater so they and Alfie can all be frkin allstars together again

And Calgary will still suck a huge one. In their state they probably should have hung onto that 3rd. They seem more content with getting cheap thrills for the fans than actually fixing the team. I think Chi-town came out on top here.

I really just wanna get drunk with Jiri Hudler -
We need to replace Tootoo's shop wrecking abilities

Holland could, except the pizza would be expired and would have lots of seasoning on it. but at the end of the day he would rather let the chicken expire on its own while he adds his own seasonings to it, instead of trading it for god knows what kind of pizza with nasty toppings its picked up from other pizzerias.

You're probably right, but I'd need some more convincing on Gilbert. Short term would be fine with me as I see our young D-men stepping up soon.

That's funny cause, and this is coming from a Spartan, I would say the exact opposite. U of M gets great players but I think Boston does better, and I think Berenson is probably the best coach in the NCAA right now. Lombardi really should hold his tongue.

I think yourself and kip discount players like Iginla and Boyle for all the wrong reasons (AGE, IT'S JUST A NUMBER) but I'm honestly warming up to the idea of not signing Niskanen or Boyle if the price isn't right. We have Ouellet, Sproul, Marchenko, and Backman lurking in our prospect pool, literally all 4 just behind Mantha and Mrazek in rank. Would love to see a few of them come in and earn spots, which I think at least 2 of them are ready for. You have to admit though, Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Iginla would be a sick top line. Iginla puts up dang good numbers and plays dang hard without a lot of injuries for a vet.

Mind you, this is the starting point made by their agents, not anything close to what will be agreed upon. Teams low ball, agents high ball. I'm guessing the teams first offer was something like 7 per, knowing it was was way low, just like the agents knew 12 was way high. they'll likely meet in the middle between 8 and 10.

I don't know what Red Wings drafting has to do with Kesler and the Ducks but yeah we draft well. Unless Anaheim's young players really become elite this year, which could happen, I don't think Kesler puts them anywhere close to over the top.

NHL Draft 2014: Rounds 2-7 **MOD WARNING POST 51**

I don't mind the plethora of lefties for once. If you look at out prospect pool, which now excludes Nyquist Tatar Sheahan Jurco Jarnkrok, we are pretty weak at left wing and center. I personally dont care about the handedness of our C's, but on the wings i do. We reloaded at center, and more than a few of those guys will probably see time as LW's as well. I like wingers who can also play C when needed. -
my mistake. you should quote the post your replying to when responding in the future.

Am I the only one that winces when seeing another "Edler to Red Wi

I'd say no to Kesler purely bc of what is required to get him. Also, I met him at a tiger game and he was skinny as a rail. And that was during his prime seasons. -
Thornton would help us for like one season. What if we don't win? Then we shipped out prospects for someone who got in nothing. Not worth it/dumb

Signed Detroit re-signs Gustavsson 1 yr $1.85 mill

Precisely. Howard is going to play the majority of this season no matter what. Mrazek playing only 20 competitive games is bad for his development and dumb for us as a franchise. But not only is it bad for his development, but I think we all know he would probably do well in those 20 games. Then his agent would have a huge bargaining point at his side. A bargaining point that could either get him an inflated contract with us, or take him to another team. The wise decision is to let him grow and develop in the minors and bring him up when we have no other option but that. -
865 regular season points in 760 games played? Plus the dude was a monster when it came to the intangibles? I'd be very sad if he didn't make it, there are more than a few worse players from the early years and high scoring 80s that made it. I think it would be shameful to deny a guy who had a stellar career and gave everything to the game, and even shortened his on-ice career because he played so hard. Lindros had legendary size and skill for a forward and deserves to be honored as a legend IMO.

Finally you're talking some sense

You must be drunk. Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Franzen, and Helm WILL play a combined 4 games and Weiss is a joke. Unless we sign Vanek, Gaborik, Niskanen, and Callahan we will go out in the first round AGAIN and we'll be no better than Florida and Buffalo. Holland smokes too much Cleary to do anything even close to intelligent. Oh, also need to buyout Franzen, trade for Weber, and somehow acquire Ekblad. Can you get that through your noggan? Or are you too busy wearing your rose tinted spectacles?

Half of Holland's future core is still in the minors. He's going to continue to sign older gap players until they are all here in Detroit. He's not going to commit to anything huge in a trade or FA acquisition until he's done remaking his young core through his prospects. Holland hopes for a cup tomorrow, but plans for the cup 10 years from now. It's the nature of the beast and it's obvious. He doesn't care about getting Datsyuk and Zetterberg a cup, he cares about getting the Red Wings another cup. If it bothers you, you can bash him and whine like Crosby, but it won't change. I've decided to just get excited about our prospects, and hope (like Holland) that we can squeeze one more cup out of the Alfies of the world. I'm all for big name acquisition fantasy's like Vanek or whoever, but I understand the huge financial/cap risk those players pose, and why Holland won't get involved unless he gets them for a steal. Iginla is someone who's going to sign a very short contract for an expensive, but not inflated cap hit. Which is perfect for team waiting for its youngens to develop. Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Iginla Nyquist - Weiss - Franzen Tatar - Helm - Alfredsson Miller - Sheahan - Abdelkader Jurco, Glendening is ridiculously deep even with the inevitable injuries and a possible crappy Weiss
