Hypothetical: What Coach Would You Replace Babcock With?
number9 replied to cnot19's topic in General
Wait... Blashil won a championship in the minors? Fire Babs, hire blas NOW. Why is illitch so stupid? -
McCarty would have kissed that sob with his fist if that was Stevie Jus sayin...

One of our draft picks is the number one guy on a worthless team???? Someone call Florida! They missed out on a great piece!

Is it the dead wings again? Or am I just a spoiled doom and gloom fan who craves an exciting rebuild for rebuild sake? Wait... Is Suter still in Minnesota?

Trade deadline fast approaching - who should we target?
number9 replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
Used to be a booth fan, and I'm saying y'all would be mad as herk if he came here now. Invisible on a good team. IMO the need is at D. Sure we're lacking a top sniper, but the defensive depth on this team is 100% non existent. When Smith Quincey is your #2 pairing - you trade for a dman -
Long term the best option is replacing the vets with the kids, and using the gained cap space for trades at a future date. Short term the best option is gaining another top player in this years FA while we have the cap space and still have Pavs and z. IMO, I think we should steer clear of overpaid FAs. Let the kids work next year, and come trade deadline trade the expendable kids for a top available player. Basically, if we use FA this year we WILL lose a prospect to waivers. I'd rather bang the buck and trade him at a later date

"This just in: News breaking trade rumor: Every team in the NHL wants another high profile goal scorer and standout D-man on their team" Well I'm taken aback, I thought it was only us.

I lived in Grand Rapids for a few years and caught the games every Thursday (Thursday is dollar dog/beer night) (there's a nostalgic Larry Murphy fan deep within my soul) But yeah, as far as I kno, that's the only way to catch up on the games

"Hopefully I can get healthy soon so I can play for my team again and maybe be 100% ready to represent my country as a C in the Olympics" Is not "Hopefully I can use my team as secondary conditioning so I can play well in the Olympics, the only thing I, Pavel Datsyuk, care about." Pavs has given us his utmost loyalty and dedication for over a decade, I think we as fans should return the favor and not assume he's turning his back on us at the drop of hat. This is Datsyuk were talking about. One of the classiest and most respected men to ever make magic. How dare we judge him.

Mickey mentioned that Erat requested a trade out of Washington, as he' hasn't been playing well there. If he becomes availbe do we go for him? He's had a pretty consistent career till now and I know he's been described as a great two way fwd and he could be cheap while he's in this slump

Heard from multiple twitter accounts that Vanek won't re-sign cause he's waiting till UFA to consider a new deal. Def not interested in renting him. -
Idk about passing cause I havnt seen any Griffs games this year, but his points aren't that great. He's scoring 22% less than he did in his last AHL stint. Gotta think a seasoned NHL vet can do better than that in the minors. Of course I don't know what role he's playing in. Regardless, we know why he was brought here, and it's not to score. He's doing something the wings don't like, otherwise he'd have been called up and sent back down again by now

Mark Fraser is tough as nails, but there's a reason he doesn't play

5th in goal scoring in KHL and only 22... I'd say that's a lot more potential than Brunner had

ZETTERBERG STRAINED HIS BACK? AGAIN? That's a problem he had in the past! His back has become mush! This is definately career ending, probably. Put him on LTIR for good and let his career end. I can't bare to see my hometown boy carry on like this. Think of his family. *Rolls eyes* Franzen was symptom free for three days. He didn't expierence another concussion, his symptoms just returned. Suggesting his career is probably over is a wild assumption. Remember when Crosby missed something like 150 games over 3 seasons due to multiple concusions? I wonder where he's at in the scoring race in 2013-14? There's always going to be the occasional Savard/Pronger, but frankly most players with concussion history return and play on. For all we know his symptoms will dissapear again tomorrow, and he'll be back again before we know it. Take it easy for a bit Mule

McCollum quietly putting together a come-back season and starting to look like his 1st round self .927% and 2.19 GAA in 31 games for Grand Rapids this season He recently turned 24. If I'm the Wings I would avoid drafting a goalie this year and just re-sign Tom. Howard, Gustavsson, Mrazek, McCollum, Coreau, Paterson, is a pretty good group

Pretty sure Sheahan plays LW and Glendening plays RW...

It'd be hard to justify playing Bert and Cleary at this point

Whom to blame for this goal? A referee or the goalie?
number9 replied to Jersey Wing's topic in General
Couldn't find the video, but I've seen a clip where the ref drops the puck and only 1 team has their centermen ready to take the draw. It was basically the easiest FO win ever and I'm pretty sure it was in the NHL. Point is, It's not the centermens fault, or the refs fault. It's 100% on the goalie. It's not the refs job to get your centermen to the faceoff dot, or to make sure your goalie is paying attention. He's dropping it when he's dropping it and everyone has to be ready to go. Smart play by the winning team. -
Kindl and Bertuzzi hurt? or scratched?

Love that someone else around here still appreciates shop wrecking

I'd say their comparable

Quincey for Rielly Smith? Quincey for Torey Krug? Nvm I'm drunk.

Besides the fact that I wan't commenting on what type of players we actually have, I'm pretty sure Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Kronwall, Alfredsson, Weiss, Nyquist, Jurco, and Tatar all fit the skills game. Doesn't help though when 3 of the highest paid of those 8 are injured. ? Who are you taking about?
