Going to the game on the 13th

I suggest Nemos sports bar on Michigan avenue. It's a good pre game atmosphere and it has shuttles that take take you to the game so you don't have to worry about parking in a parking garage.

    Playing hockey

Best advice would be to go skate on a pond as much as you can and just get used to skating and handling a puck. Don't hold back when your skating, once you get a feel for it, skating becomes as natural as walking.

A Bunch of Team Jersey Changes (May Be) Coming Soon

I like what the Kings are doing but I wish they would adopt the same logo as they had in the 90's too. I hate the penguins winter classic jerseys though, they should just keep the ones they have now. Preds new ones are nice too.

Money on the board against the Wings

it would be cool to create some sort of charity rivalry where both teams' fans do this and the winning team donates, We could do it every time we play the jackets.

Question about the average american's view on NHL

I wouldn't really place the woman from 24/7 in the average american category, she came off as more of a worried mother type than a sports watching type. I think hockey is a really misunderstood sport because people just don't have enough exposure to it. It is an expensive sport (ice time, equipment, etc) also unlike football, baseball, and basketball, hockey requires a unique skill set. Most sports are just a combination of ordinary skills like running, jumping, and catching therefore people who do not play can still hold there own when they give it a try. Hockey on the other hand requires a person to be able to skate and use a hockey stick, skills that do not come natural as human nature and must be practiced on. Therefore people do not find it as fun at first and just give up on it, even though most people who give it a chance turn out to love the sport.

    Ouch!

Ryan Getzlaf takes a puck to his forehead after Doan's shot redirected off Fowler's stick. Makes you wonder how some of these guys can play the game without a visor. While its never good to see a player get hit like that, it was nice to see the sportsmanship of all the players including Doan making sure the refs blew the whistle. Would you guys play without a visor if you were in the NHL?

    luckiest man alive

Coyotes call up no name man to play in tonight's game against the rangers. I think I would rather this than win the lottery. http://coyotes.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=546597

    Jiri Hudler Watch Thread

The lazy part may be true but I don't think he sucks. Hudler is not a guy who can carry a line but I think he is a guy who can compliment other players well. I would like to see him on a line with Datsyuk to see how they would play together. Datsyuk is so good at opening up space and making the players around him better I think he could really help a guy like Hudler who needs someone to feed him, at least until he gets his confidence back up. I know I am going to get grilled for sticking up for Hudler but I think we are all underestimating his potential. I just don't want to see us make the same mistake we made with Leino. Leino was doing just as bad if not worse at this point last year and I think everybody on here including myself was saying "he is lazy and he sucks" and rightfully so, but we had him on a checking line and he is not an NHL caliber checker, he is and NHL caliber scorer. Once Leino went to Philadelphia and was put on a line with Briere his game took a 180. I think we need to put him in every possible spot for him to succeed before we give up on him, and if his success can only come at the cost of the teams success then go ahead and trade him.

    Jiri Hudler Watch Thread

Hudler needs a psychiatrist, we all know what he is capable of but he just seems like he lacks confidence and questions himself. For instance it seemed like shooting the puck never even crossed his mind on his two on one tonight, he is a shooter he needs to shoot. I don't want to see him become the Jason Williams and wind up doing nothing with his career, he is too good. Also, is anyone else annoyed by the way he tapes his socks?

    Mickey Redmond and Ken Daniels

I think what makes them so great is that they seem like they are actually part of the team rather than just two guys who call the games, there is a real family atmosphere with the whole organization. Also I like how when the red wings score ken's reaction is actually genuine unlike some broadcasters who are just obnoxious and seem like they are trying way too hard.

    Darren Pang's freudian slip

It almost makes it worse that he corrected himself by saying "the right way" haha

12/4 GDT: Red Wings 2 at Kings 3 (OT)

I doubt he lost his "A", Zetterberg, Datsyuk, and Draper usually rotate the "A's" so he will most likely be wearing it next game.
