If it was "clear" as he says, why would Meehan say that Nabby would play for whomever claimed him? Did they just assume that only playoff expectant teams would scoop him up?
-
No problem.

I thought this poll meant "Who does LGW as a whole hate the most?" Which is why my answer was Crosby.

From my understanding, the Red Wings organization contacted the NHL and requested that Z not be chosen. They agreed, nullifying Z of breaking the rule in question.
-
He wasn't chosen for the ASG so he didn't actually break any rules though. But it's just another loophole in NHL policy.
-
Just let them be ignorant then. More space for people who aren't ignorant in NC then. Raleigh is beautiful. My dad always said that if he had to move out of Michigan, he'd go to North Carolina. He might think differently if I tell him Clay Aiken is from there. Lol.
-
...I'm having a hard time telling if this is serious or not.
-
The NHL is either dumb or they don't think about their rules too much before they write them. There's loopholes in everything. I can't even imagine what the league would be like if they were completely consistent with their rulings/calls. I'd probably die of shock.

I said "enforcer" type for lack of a better term for it. I know this isn't an actual enforcer debate. I can see how having a tough guy on the team would help, but it doesn't really bother me if we don't grab one simply because I don't feel that we need one to be successful. We have our system and even though it has its flaws, it works. If we do get one, great. I'm all for it. If we don't, I'm not that worried about it. And I certainly don't think it's as big of an issue as the article made it out to be.
-
Clay...Aiken...? Please tell me this is false.
-
He can't be serious. Why wouldn't he show up? We don't all agree with Nabokov's decision on this board, but we understand what he's saying at least.
-
I see what you're saying. In some ways, it's definitely a double standard. But anybody who has ever had or known someone with a concussion before knows that you just aren't yourself. It's a lot more challenging to go and talk with fans and have flashing camera lights in your face with a concussion than it is with a charlie horse.

I'm gonna say the same thing I always say when the "enforcer" type arguments come out. When the Wings stop being a top contending team every year, I'll worry about it.
-
Crosby. /End thread.

I don't know about "cool", but Zidlicky always makes me laugh.
-
I don't think that's the issue here. It seems to me most of the people posting understand that the Islanders had every right to pick him up if they wanted him. They just don't understand why they would.
-
I don't know. I think Favre's recent run-in with the law regarding photos of his manhood qualify him to be on the same level as Forsberg. They both need to just stay retired.

That's basically it in a nutshell. Snow has his own agenda he's pertaining to at the moment. It's obvious by his actions today that he cares more about the team than the player (which can be debated as either a good or bad thing). On a personal level, man to man, he's a douchebag for it. But from an employer to employee standpoint, he was just grabbing the best goalie for the lowest price that he could. Nabokov on the other hand isn't exactly acting like a stand-up gentleman in this either. I would think that if he wants to sign with another team next season, he would play out his contract with NYI for the exposure and then move on. I've read the counter-argument that Nabokov doesn't want to play for a terrible team and ruin his stats/reputation - but come on. Even us fans can tell when a goal is and isn't the goalie's fault. You don't think the GMs will too? Playing half of a season for the Islanders isn't going to prevent Nabokov from getting picked up next season if that's what he wants. But I can't say the same for him not reporting. "You can't always get what you want."

Apparently there's a controversy with some Osgood comments on the situation now too. This is what started it. (I posted it before, but I figure I'll just repost it.) Link. This was just posted elsewhere. Link. And the soap opera continues.
-
This whole situation is such a mess. I feel like I've just watched a new soap opera. Now I guess we have to wait and see if the Isles are gonna suspend him or put him back on waivers.
-
Terrible D and turnovers, turnovers, turnovers. Oh, and disallowed Z goal on "intent to blow" the whistle.
-
Agreed. It's not possible that the rest of the coaching staff and management hasn't noticed this.
-
You know it's a bad game when that becomes the update post.

Comeback "kid"?
