Devils sign Brunner 2 yrs. $2.5 million AAV
dmbongreyst replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
On waivers per Bob Mckenzie's twitter. Sorry, on my phone and can't link. -
2020? Are we really 6 years away from seeing a contender? They may not win the SC before then, but I surely hope they contend before then.

Jeff Blashill close to signing an extension... Babcock talks starting
dmbongreyst replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Babcock did the same thing with the Ducks and he was pretty successful in Anaheim. -
I think the point most are missing on the streak is say the Wings win the cup in 2016. They will have won in 97/98, 02, 08, and 16 (hypothetically). That's 5 Cups in 20 years, and outside of 97/98, none within 4 years of the other all while never missing the playoffs. Prolonged excellence with little to no down period is unheard of in today's sports world. As much as the last five seasons have sucked for us it's only because of how good we have had it. If rather rebuild on the fly, as they have put it, than tank with the chance that we would be building toward nothing anyway.

Not only did he get the hat trick but I really liked the way he scored them. Two of the three he went to the net and waited for the rebound on one and the pass on the other. Other than screening we don't see enough Wings skating hard to the net looking to make something happen. The wrap around was nice to see as well. That was the first of the WJ games I've seen this year. I was impressed but would like to see what he does against a higher quality opponent. I thought Patterson played well. He didn't have any highlight stops but got the job done after the two early goals.

Yes, passport is required to now go to Canada.

You have to remember that we are still in a lockout shortened and affected season. In a normal year, the Finals would have ended three weeks ago.

I noticed in the transaction section of the news paper today that he signed with GR for a tryout but couldn't find anything online. Does anyone have any details about the 2013-14 expectations for where he'll play? From the looks of his statline this year he has started to put his speed to use.

To the point of having to beat out Steve an TB, does anyone else think he went ahead and signed Sustr because DD told him he's already out of the running?

I spent a couple weeks last week in Sweden last spring and had a few hockey conversations with natives there. As someone else already mentioned the Rangers are popular for Lundquist. To be honest, I didn't have a single person bring the Penguins up. That could have been uncommon as I only spoke to 5 or so people about hockey during my time there. I was surprised that no one mentioned the Canucks when I was there for the Sedin twins and coming off of their finals appearance.

I'm not saying I want the guy, but wasn't part of the new CBA that you can trade a player and absorb part of the cap hit?

The Wings get a week off, a second round matchup with a team that had one more point in the regular season, and Vancouver was put to the max with Chicago and now have to play a physically grinding Nashville. I think things have played really well in Detroit's favor. I hate playing a west coast team due to the away game start times, but other than that, I couldn't ask for a better scenario for this year's team.

Was anyone watching game 3 and saw the crap that Philadelphia's goalie pulled late in the game. They were up 1 with a 5 on 3 PK for 30 more seconds, they couldn't clear the puck so he ripped off his helmet and acted like the last shot he took off the mask broke his strap. They gave him a couple minutes to go to the bench to get it "fixed", all the while his team got a free breather. They won the face-off and cleared the puck. He waited 5-10 seconds after the last shot until ge just flat out took his mask off. Its atleast good to see other teams screwed by the officials.

Hey guys, Long time Wings fan but first time poster. I live in the Cincy area, so there isn't much NHL news posted in this area. I usually get my Wings news from here but wanted to see if you guys could recommend some people to follow on twitter to get news updates on the Red Wings? I read the Free Press and Daily News almost everyday, are there any of the beatwriters with good twitter updates? Thanks in advance and go Wings!
