The Hurricanes don’t need to look at Vancouver for inspiration when they did the same thing with the Staal brothers.

If he’s healthy I don’t see him not being traded. The NTC is just to give him some leverage on where he goes. I don’t think he’d reject everything presented to him.

Should The Wings Re-Sign Mike Green?
dmbongreyst replied to ChristopherReevesLegs's topic in General
He’s the number one defensemen on a poor defensive team. If Kronwall, Daley, and Ericsson don’t provide enough veteran experience for younger players to learn from then adding Green won’t help much. This roster is clogged with bad contracts and few spaces to add youth and talent. It didn’t work for three years, time to move on. -
Ok. I agree with that, but it isn’t do or die for anyone other than Green. I’d rather wait and maximize value if no one blows them away with an offer. I’m also leery of salary retention for future seasons with as poorly as management has handled the cap the last few years

Why would Tatar and Nyquist have less value at next years deadline than today? All of the trades made so far have been for players with expiring deals.
-
Per The Athletic the Blue Jackets are now talking to Jack Johnson about an extension. That’s good time to take away another option for teams looking at Green.

For such a bad team his stats weren't bad. His assist total went down but his goals and shooting percentage went up. His faceoff percentage went up considerably too.

Is anyone a subscriber to this site? Hadn't heard of it until today when Craig Custance joined the staff. Paying for internet articles seems asinine in today's world but if it's quality insight who knows.

It could always be that he doesn't want to lose leverage by saying they'd like to make a trade. He also said he wouldn't trade assets to protect anyone, he didn't say they wouldn't trade assets to get rid of someone. Just playing devils advocate.

Can't find much on him outside of his Elite Prospects profile. Good size and decent point production.

Smith/Hronek Assigned to Grand Rapids

Do either of these guys have to return to juniors next year or are they pros? I can't keep track of all of the rules. Wasn't Saarijarvi up last year and back to juniors? -

8 years 8.5 AAV per McKenzie. -
Since Bert and Larkin didn't have they're first full pro season until 15-16 they are clear. Mantha and AA are not.

signed Red Wings re-sign Riley Sheahan: 2-years, $4.15m
dmbongreyst replied to Matt's topic in General
DeKeyser and Mrazek should receive large raises since they aren't expected to receive bridge deals. I could see Marchenko getting 2 years at 1.25-1.5 AAV. Pulkinnen has no leverage and hasn't proven anything. He'll be lucky to get an AAV of $800k. -

His games played and goals increased while his penalty minutes went down. Sure, his assists total took a major hit, but that can't be placed entirely on him. If he put someone in a position to score and they didn't isn't in his control. If he continues to progress and has a couple seasons with 15-20 goals and 25-35 assists it will be a great deal. -

Agree. I could see a few trades where the existing team gives up pretty good compensation if the expansion team takes a bad contract. -

This TSN article says that NMC must be protected but NTC do not. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl-players-association-won-t-stand-in-the-way-of-expansion-1.480529 -
Per the official site. Anyone know much about him? Good size for sure. 6'2" 200 lbs. https://twitter.com/detroitredwings/status/708065345098145792

Jeff Blashill = Dave Lewis 2.0 / Coaching Change
dmbongreyst replied to The Secret's topic in General
No, I don't think they're playing well. But firing a coach 10 games into his NHL career seems rash. Back to the point I was making, he hasn't had one of the best players on the team and several key players have already missed time due to injury. It wouldn't be fair to fire a guy before he's given a chance to prove himself with the full roster. -

While we're at it, waive Pavel. The guy hasn't even scored a goal yet. So much for a playmaker. -
signed Dylan Larkin turning pro... will play for GR immediately

I'm excited to see if he can add anything. He's been off for a while though. -
Funny thing with THN is they don't even have him in the Wings top ten prospects. Not a very good list, at least with their order, if you ask me.
