    Howard's new mask

What a classy and heartwarming tribute. Nice that the NHL is a league that will still not play the politically correct bs game and still gives goalies the lattitude to have some freedom with their masks

    NHL Center Ice programming

Hey, thanks for the info. I am pumped and will be making the call this weekend to subscribe. I currently get Versus also with my Comcast cable, so I should have all the bases covered. I figure hearing and watching the same game broadcast will be the next best thing to having my ass out there in the Joe.

    NHL Center Ice programming

Hi everybody. Mass resident here, but a huge RedWings fan. Looking at investing in the local Comcast subscription of Center Ice so I can get all the Wings games here, live. Do you guys know if these game announcers would be the same game announcers that you all see and hear out there in Detroit on your broadcasts? Looking at 4 payments of $42.95. Can't wait... any info would be appreciated by any other subscribers who are out of state fans.

WCSF Game 2 GDT: Red Wings 1 at Sharks 2

I agree 100%. I have not seen a Wings team look this bad any time in the last decade and a half. Even at even strength, the Sharks keep sustained pressure in our end for 2 minutes at a time, we clear it for a quick line shift and MAYBE a shot, only to be followed by the Sharks bringing it right back into the offensive zone for another 2 minutes.Something needs to change quick or this could be a sweep. The Sharks just seem to be playing with more fire and intensity, maybe because the perception is that they have underachieved the last few years and they are on a mission.

WCSF Game 1 GDT: Red Wings 1 at Sharks 2 (OT)

Tough loss last night. To kill a double minor and then to have them score once it was even strength really sucked. Just a bad deflection, though. We definitely got out-played and out-skated most of the night. Many times, even 5 on 5, the Sharks kept sustained possession in our end and looked they were on the power play for extended times. Dats was like a pointguard out there, continuously looking to set people up on every shift but we just did not get any breaks crashing the net. The Sharks played a great game on D and really took away a lot of open ice with a relentless forecheck. It was a good hockey game and could have gone either way really. The Mule had a chance to end it right before the goal on a deflection that just went wide left.

    Hmm something I noticed

With the Wings style of finesse hockey and puck control, it's refreshing every once in a while to see something like what Bert showed out there today. A crafty vet knows what is needed to get his team fired up and knows when the time is to do it. Good for him. This was definitely a "message" game to Nashville.

2/22 GDT: Sharks 4 at Red Wings 3

Wings have been playing very good lately against the top tier teams in both conferences and sometimes playing down to inferior teams levels. I look for them to be "up" for tonight's game and make a statement to the Sharks

2/20 GDT: Red Wings 2 at Wild 1 (SO)

Congrats to Bertuzzi in his 1,000th game to ice it. Backstrom kept those guys in it, but Dats and Bert are in a zone right now.

    any Red Sox fans around?

Being a Sox fan for decades, and living an hour and a half from Boston, I can tell you any fan who thought the Sox had a chance being down 3 games to nothing to the Evil Empire is lying through his teeth. I'm sure all the masochists like me watched game 4 to see how it would end but things didn't really get interesting until the Sox won game 5. Then everybody seemed to get a sense of confidence that we were just not going to lose. It snowballed from there. Don't forget, up until that time, we were living under the shadow of the Curse of the Bambino for 86 years. Whatever could go wrong, was going to go wrong... always had, always would.Irony of that feeling in 04 was the feeling that Bruins fans had when they lost to Philly last year up 3 games to 0 in the Semi's and up 3-0 in Game 4 before the wheels fell off. I would have to say as a Wings fan, they have a remarkable streak in the playoffs and are so rich in talent and full of veteran leadership, I would never count them out of a series down 3-0.

2/18 GDT: Red Wings 4 at Panthers 3

Datsyuk and Bertuzzi are just playing out of their minds this past week. Pavel...5 Gs and 4 As his last 6 games back? What a force. Let's hope they keep it up. Wings are now 22-0-2 when leading after 2 periods.... MONEY.

    Wings fans at road games

I was at the Boston game last Friday night with my son, who's a big Bruin fan I had my red Wings sweatshirt on and thought I may be in for a long night sitting amongst Bruin season ticket holders. I was surprised how many Wing fans there were at the Garden. They definitely had a voice each time Detroit scored. We had dinner and beers at "Fours", a little 2-story sports pub across the street and the Wings fans almost outnumbered the Bruins fans in there 2-1. It was a pleasent surprise. We were all buying each other beers. I met Jimmy Howard's father-in-law in line to the men's room, who was down from Maine. I think people just like many of those original 6 teams and they have a huge national following. Detroit has been a winner for so long and a pretty class organization, they've become a measuring stick for other organizations.
