There is absolutely nothing wrong with Franzen's cap hit for the amount of goals he scores..fans will always want more..the issue for the Mule is that after he went nuts in the playoffs 2 years in a row our expectations of him went through the roof. He's a 25-30 goal scorer and gets paid as such..he's never been a 40 goal scorer and never will be. The formula you used comparing him to other guys is so strange....although contracts are paid out over a certain amount years the true essence of a good contract is to get the most out of a guy on a per year basis which is why all these long contracts that were created with the loophole take huge dives in the last few years. Sign a guy for 10, hope he retires after 6 and if he doesn't hope he isn't in a wheel chair so you can get some value out of him. Why would he ever play like Shanny? He was never compared to Shanny, he has never fought, never was a big hitter..I agree he should use his size more but you're making it sound like the guy should start doing things he was never supposed to or asked to do..makes 0 sense. I want a Shanny type player too but it's not going to be Franzen and good luck finding one.

Can you imagine if every time a member on this forum left because someone didnt like their point of view...There would only be like 2 people left here.

Were you even watching..he played top 2 minutes against Anaheim and Chicago's top line and was very good..often having to cover for some of Kronner's brain farts - I will bet my house, cars, and whatever meager amount of money I have in my couch cushions that Jensen and Marchenko are not anywhere near Hockeytown next year ..well maybe in rookie camp. As for Lashoff, it was a good season for him but in the playoffs it was clear he was out of his element a bit and needs to get quicker and read the play better which i'm sure he will work on. - My problem with Bert on the 1st line is that he's slow, injury prone..he just can't keep up ..he's played well with Dats in the past but he has another injury under his belt and clearly wasn't right in the playoffs so who knows if he's going to even play. He's a 2/3rd liner and a 2nd PP unit guy..or he's going to retire or get bought out. Love Bert but thats the truth with him. - Here is where I'm convinced you don't really watch. Andersson useless? They called him up during all the injuries for spot duty and could never send him back down because he played so well. Always has his body in the right position, makes minimal mistakes, kills penalties, good chem with Brunner and Gus, works hard. He lacks some speed but makes up for it in smarts, could use some polish with the puck but he was never thought of a guy who was going to score a ton of points. 30-40 points would be a bonus with all the other things he brings..he wont be playing in GR next year I can guarantee that.

I love Bert don't get me wrong..but he isn't young and his back is a mess..he would be a good 2/3rd line guy but no way he should play on the top line.

Wow..where did Ericsson, Smith and Quincey go? They can't jsut disappear lol. With that D we would lose 70 games. Bert on the 1st line ? Andersson..where is he? I'm all for posting lineups and stuff but lets at least follow the guide lines of what an actual NHL roster would consist of.

Love the fact Andersson and Gus are back down helping them out..I'm pretty sure it will be the last games these guys every play in the AHL.

He didn't over spend a dime at the deadline and we were within one goal of making it to the conference finals against a team that I think we would've beat. Sometimes the best trades are the ones you don't make.

I agree with all of those, Flip can stay if he wants to be the 3rd line center..we need to find a 2nd line center...I like Sammy and Bert but clearly Bert's back is a mess and at his age isn't going to get much better and Sammy just had a crap run of luck this year with injuries. Cleary is a warrior but just can't keep up for long periods of time..worked his ass of though. Franzen could get traded, its a pretty reasonable contract ..he's never going to play until the end of it so someone is going to only have to take that hit for 2-3 years. Need a top 6 guy and a top 6/9 guy. Cant wait to watch Gus play a full season next year.

I agree, total up and down season. Injuries, young guys, more injuries, good play..absolutely terrible play..more injuries..squeak in..upset a #2 seed..have our foot on the #1 seed's throat...s***t the bed for two games...look gassed for 2 periods in game 7..put in a helluva effort in period 3...and lose on some kind of make up call for a make up call deflection on a goalie who if he see's a shot is going to save it. Cocktails?

Roller coaster of a season..tough way to go down..learned alot about our young guys..feel like we may just be a couple pieces away . Jimmy is top notch and love watching that guy. Signing off for a while..too hard to listen to the GMRWings types around here who complain about everything.. Have a good summer to the real fans out there.

We look really gassed..look like a team who worked so hard to win those 3 games and we have little left in the tank..good push at the end of the period..it's going to take a really gutsy 3rd to tie this thing up and win it. Jimmy has kept us in it..lets get 1.

If you told me b efore this series started that we would have 1 game for all the marbles against the #1 overall seed and huge favorite I would've been more than happy with those odds. Not happy with the way it's gotten to game 7 but we have our shot..time to put up or shut up. It's time for guys like Mule and Flip to get their s***t together. Z and D just need to be Z and D. Not sure who the pressue is on now? The team that blew the 3-1 lead or the #1 seed.
