I love Smith and I really don't think that he should be sitting but I think the big picture here is that Kindl and Ericcson need to get some games in before the playoffs start to get game ready. To have a 3rd pairing of Quincey - Smith/E/Kindl come playoff time isn't such a bad problem to have.

Obviously the most important injuries to this team are Dats and Lidstrom but to say they are the only injuries that matter is crazy. It's a domino affect. Franzen for instance has not only had to play with 1 new line mate but 2. Injuries change the line combos and the ice time that some of these guys are forced to play. White has looked terrible and should have a better ability to adjust to a new partner but it is difficult to go from playing with argurably the best d man ever to someone new. It is also so much harder to hide struggling guys in the lineup somewhere when you have injuries and they are forced to play. It's the dog days of the season, we are struggling but if you need a cheer up try channelling 07-08..it is a very similar feeling. Things turned out ok that year.

The way we are playing right now feels so much like 2007-2008 when we lost 6 in a row and 10 of 11. We all know how that ended up so look at the bright side.

Agreed but this team has to show some kind of balls. I don't rag on these guys too often but this is terrible. Teams forecheck the hell out of us the last 20 games and stack the blue line. I'm just some washed up beer league hockey player and I can see it. Hammer pucks out of our end and chip and chase. Worth a try at least lol

Injuries or not we make ourselves so easy to play against Usually when you lose some skill in the lineup you grind a bit more but we are trying to be even more fancy. Shoot the ******* puck!

It's kinda funny I live on the west coast and I prefer to watch games in eastern time, start at 430, done by 7. Must be really tough on the east coast people.

They can play what you call " playoff style hockey" all they want in the regular season, can they actually do it in the playoffs is the big question. They certainly are playing better then anyone right now.

A loss is a loss, tough one though..thought we played pretty good for most of the night. With this depleted lineup its hard to hide some of these guys who are playing terrible (Hudler and Cleary)

Lots of shots tonight, little more north to south rather then east to west. For the 5 minutes we played good last night we started getting pucks to the net.

If Smith comes out of the lineup I will be livid..this kid is NHL ready right now and should never play another game in the AHL. Ericsson is servicable and would be useful to us or some other teams but that contract is going to be hard to unload. He is instantly more attractive because he has played for a good team and been groomed properly but that contract is a little bit much.
