Not a big fan of Hemsky at all, he's a Semin type...he doesn't just take shifts and nights off he takes whole months off. He is a right handed shot though and putting him on a line with Dats or Z would most certainly get his interest level up.

I agree..we are deeper top to bottom, they rely a ton on one line.

Us healthy, them healthy, 7 game series, I like our chances, we are deeper everywhere and we have the better goalie.

You can call it well timed I guess..we can argue about this all day but it's clear Marchand's intended point of contact was very low. If I was smarter I would post come videos of some quality hit checks from youtube but that is way out of my technical area. Its a fine line with hip checks, lots of factors to determine like point of contact, size of the people involved etc... - I find this one similar to the Marchand hit..very low - I think this is text book even though it's on a Wing, hip to hipIt's a really fine line and everyone's point is different I guess. Open for discussion. I don't think the hit was the cleanest but I do agree that discipline is not necessary at all here whether its a fine or suspension. The only thing that may change the way this is looked at is because Salo has a concussion and obviously the C word is a pretty sensitive subject these days.

How good of a signing does White look like now, Wiz's offensive upside is and was obviously higher but he's -18 and now with the injury it looks brilliant. I like Wiz but at double the cap hit of White I think I like our decision.

I would be suprised if Bert goes anywhere. He's mentioned that he would love to finish his career in Detroit if given the chance and I would guess he would be willing to do it on the cheap. He's proven to be a good teammate and will play on any of the top 3 lines if asked. Nothing happens until Lidstrom makes his decision and being the classy guy that he is he usually makes that decision with enough time for management to adjust ( especially if he decides to hang em up this year ). Lids stays then there is no way obviously that Suter is an option. Either way I like our D. Stuart is key though, it's going to be hard to keep him here.

Why doesn't Marchand take a page out of Datsyuk's book and just match Salo shoulder for shoulder to gain an advantage? I've seen Dats do it a million times against bigger or smaller guys. It's a clean and effective way of gaining position on a similar play. I don't want hitting out of the game but hits like this are a joke, its contact made below the waist with an attempt to send a guy landing on his head.

When I joined this site 8 years ago the number of Wings fans on this site from BC were few and far between and now it seems like there is about 6 in this thread alone. Pretty cool.

Clearly this has scared this team for the last 20 years. Puck always moves faster so if we are working hard and moving the puck good it eliminates teams from the physical play. Plus we have always been disciplined and have proven time and time again that we won't fall for the stupid s***. I like PP's.

Huh? If you work your ass of every shift I don't think it really matters how big you are. Being a good checker doesn't mean you have to send guys through the boards every shift. I think Helm and Datsyuk are prime examples of that. Smaller guys who are always positioned well and work their ass off. Helm stripping the puck from a guy is just as effective as him attempting to plaster a guy through the boards.
