I will take the Mule present over Ryan's potential any day of the week. I live for guys who can help us win a cup now. Thats the philosopy of this team...win now and ask questions later. We dont rebuild..we reload. Potential is exactly what it is..potential...no one can look into a crystal ball and tell me Ryan is gonna score 40 goals in this league but right now I can tell you that the Mule will score 35-40 goals this year !!

Semin finally got mad when he realized that Staal was trying to undress him in front of 18000 people !!

Ya gotta be good to be lucky and lucky to be good....BRING ON THE GOLD !!!!
-
Love him or hate him is it really bad to have a guy who is as passionate about the game as him? He does say some crazy s*** sometimes but he knows his stuff and is probably more educated on the teams and players in the NHL than anyone else.!!

GDT 2009 Winter Classic: Red Wings 6, Blackhawks 4
puckbags replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in Hall of Fame
We have played alot of stinky 1st periods this year and fallen behind but it is sure nice to know that we can come back on anyone. Never like playing from behind but with the skill we have no lead is safe thats for sure. Cheers to a good 3rd !!- 1,043 replies

The most exciting player on the face of the earth is 6th in voting for forwards in the east. What a joke !!
-
Another lucky one? what a shot !!!

They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and after watching the first period it appears that after years of getting punished and missing the playoffs in the central the Hawks have adopted a style that is very similar to ours when we are going good. Puck possession, lots of shots, and quick transition out of their own end. I also get to listen to the Chicago broadcast on center ice and about 134 times in the first period I almost puked on myself !!

I spend all my time and energy being committed to the Wing's..no time for anyone else !! Although I do live on the west coast of Canada so I do know quite a bit about what's going on with the Canucks !!

Ho Hum...3-3...on with the 3rd

Wow..what an ugly first period...I cant imagine how much lighter the bandwagon just got after that period with the amount of fair weather fans we have around here.

I scrolled up from the bottom and saw your post so I only wasted 8.5 seconds of my life. You saved me from reading the rest of it !!

Were in the hell do these people come from? You've tried this argument in like 3 threads now !! What you are saying is the if we lose the next 2 games to Chicago, we will lose the central, get a bad seed in the playoffs and not win the cup again? That has to be the most f*&cked up 8 year old bandwagon logic I have ever heard. And your argument about the easy playoff draw last year has to be the 2nd stupidest thing I have heard today. We run over everyone all year, win the division, win the conference and win the presidents trophy and its somehow our fault we got to play the teams we did? YOU CAN ONLY BEAT THE TEAMS THAT ARE PUT IN FRONT OF YOU, which we did and come playoff time this year if it's different teams we will do the same thing.

He should change his name to mindf***...what a moron !!
-
Huh...wtf are you talking about? 1st, 2nd, 4th who cares. So we finish 4th and have to play the Ducks, big deal...we are a better team than them. We are going to have to beat the Sharks to make it out of the conference anyways so why not in the 2nd round? I don't know why we are even talking about this, we are going to win the division, conference and presidents cup. Optimism is what I'm all about...not like people who say we are screwed in the playoffs if we get the 4th seed.

First off I don't want this thread to turn into a debate on whether fighting should be allowed or not allowed in the game or whether the Wing's need a goon in their lineup !! I love myself a good fight whether its for stategic reasons or just for entertainment purposes but the quality of the fights in this league are just garbage !! Many of the fights last less than 15 seconds and are just useless wrestling matches or guys are just too damn clumsy to stand on their own two feet and just fall to ice because of a lack of balance. For instance tonight I just finished watching the Nucks-Ducks games. There were 3 fights, fight #1 Parros jumps Hodichuk after a good clean bodycheck by Hordichuk, The fight was so bad that they didn't even get major penalties, only roughing calls. Fight #2 featured Travis Moen and Mike Brown, for those who dont know, these are two big tough dudes, fight was a wrestling match, no big punches landed....BORING !! Fight # 3 Middleweight match between Kesler and Getzlaf, these two took the time behind the play to yap at each other, there was no one around and they dropped the gloves, Getzlaf proceeded to spend 20 seconds trying to get Kesler's helmet off, no punches really landed, fight over BORING !! I dont understand the point of taking a 5 minute trip to the sin bin for this garbage. I remember back in the day when guys like Probert, Domi, Kocur, Brashear etc would get there money's worth out of a fight and square off and throw bombs and sometimes the fights would last at least 30-45 seconds and sometimes we would get one of those epic 1-2 minute fights. Even back in the day when a fight only lasted 15 seconds it would usually be a flurry of punches for 15 seconds and then its over. Out of the 10 fights I see now, 8 of them are garbage, 1 is average, and 1 is usually considered good. To me it seems like guys have no balance nowadays and they just end up falling over. I want to get back to the fights like Probert-Coxe from Don Cherry's Rockem Sockem 1 ......One can only hope !!!
-
I'm not saying that there aren't any quality fights anymore...I see some good ones, but compared to the way it used to be the sample of good fights is alot smaller !!
-
Now you've gone to the total opposite end of the spectrum...that may have been the best fight I have ever seen...Too bad we cant get more of those in the NHL !!
-
If they had a tournament of fighters in the NHL (which I hope to hell never happens) I would bet the farm that Chara would win. He is one mean bastard !!
-
Someone with absolutely no class !!

I agree, I have never been to the Joe but I have a buddy who has been to many games there and he told me he doesn't even go early anymore. He used to go there early and watch warmup and stuff but he said that now that he's seen 234 pregame warmups they are all the same and their is nothing that draws him to going early to a game. Ive seen the Wing's play at GM place in Vancouver 10-12 times and I always go early, lots of room to walk around and look at stuff, lots of bathrooms, lots of beer huts. I know what people are saying about the tradition and stuff but just because you move to another arena doesn't mean the franchise loses all its tradition. No one can take away 11 cups from us. New energy and tradition will start in a new building and with it will carry tradition from the old barn.

Hence why i said "for a couple of days" !!
-
I take it all the panic mongers around here have crawled back into their panic cave for a couple of days at least!!
-
Why doesn't Sammy deserve 3 million? He's on pace for almost 60pts, he kills penalties, plays the pp, is good defensively. I bet if you look around the league at some other 3 million dollar players alot of gm's would gladly take Sammy over what they have now. Take the Sammy hate blinders off for a sec and do some evaluation.

Is it really a time for changing goalies and 4th liners?
puckbags replied to Wingsallwin's topic in General
Ironic, a guy who has been a member here for 3 days calling a long time member junior 1.5 million nowadays is nothing, Drapes isn't going to score anymore but he sure as hell can still kill penalties and take faceoffs....2 things that an Owl might not be able to see from way up in his tree but these things are very important in close games.
