    CBJ's new roster

I agree...Huselius is so streaky its brutal, he played on a line with Iginla and still couldn't remain consistent.

Holland: Wings will wait until Sept. for D trade

I dont follow the AHL very much but I'm thinking that Grand Rapids is going to have a pretty solid team next year.

Obligatory forward lines thread for next season

All I can see with all these line combo's is that we have a REALLY REALLY SCARY HOCKEY TEAM....basically the same team we won the cup with but now we have Marian Hossa. We are so deep that we have put ourselves into a position where we can maybe trade some guys for draft picks. I cant wait for the season to start but in the mean time I will just continue to gloat about that Stanley Cup we just won !!

    The Enforcer Thread

I am pretty sure Kenny knows what he's doing, he has won 4 cups as a GM, he makes smart, tactical moves and has built this team around speed, skill, chemistry and heart without breaking the bank. AS LONG AS HE IS THE GM OF THIS TEAM WE WILL KEEP WINNING WITH THIS PHILSOPHY AND IT DOESNT INCLUDE A BUNCH OF MEATHEADS PLAYING FOR THE WINGS. It's too bad you are such a noob and didn't join about 2 years ago because your no grit mentality would have fit right in around here at that time. Any team is prone to cheapshots, its hard to avoid but I can count the amount of cheapshots on Wing's players on one hand in the last 15 years pretty much.

Yep screwed going into next season with a better team than we had when we won the cup. We were last in the league in fighting majors I believe and we won the STANLEY CUP...your philosophy seems slightly contradicting.

    The Enforcer Thread

Ya can't goon it up if you can't catch em !! Mac and Downey will be around to police the situation if it needs attention !! People who think that Holland is going to go out and sign 3 goons still haven't caught on to this teams philosophy obviously.

Quotes from Babcock regarding the signing

It never ends around here...your philosphy is soooooo last season dude...we just won the Stanley Cup with a team that people said wasn't tough enough. Its called team toughness...guys sticking up for each other, guys being the 1st one's in the corner to get pucks. I dont know if you noticed in the playoffs but teams quit trying to goon us up because they knew that (a) we weren't going to retaliate and (b) if they did something stupid they would be sitting in the box and we would score on the PP. Lets do an inventory here buds Holmstrom = fearless hard nosed player Dats and Z = will go into the corners with anyone Franzen = wont back down from anyone Draper = takin care of business for 15 years and has the scars to prove it Mac and Downey = 1 of these 2 will be with the big squad all season Kronner = check the playoff highlights..he's not soft Stuart = not afraid to mix it up Lilja = like him or not he will stick up for his teammates This team is all about guys sticking up for each other and trusting each other.....you can hope for your good squad but in all reality I think we more than showed in the playoffs that no one can push us around. WE HAVE THE STANLEY CUP TO PROVE IT !!

Okay who is the odd man?

I agree..looking at the Canucks right now I'm thinking that if they don't make a few pretty big moves they will be the worst team in west. Bobby Lou is going to have to stop alot of pucks next year.

    Stuart Re-Signs: 4-years @ $3.75m per

Stuart is a really popular guy around here right now...4 threads already . Good signing..locked him up long term for good market value.

    Carter re-signs

Carter sign's new deal Seem's about right, a good signing for the Flyers after they lost Umberger.

    Orpik Rejects Pens Offer

I agree, I know nobody is guaranteed a spot on the team but you would think that with the way Helm played in the playoffs that the only way he doesn't make the team is if he has a terrible training camp and plays himself off the team. We need to start the season with at least one of these young d-men on the team and then come trade deadline if we need to add a veteran guy than so be it.

    Chris Simon?

Re-Signings, Stuarts Shoulder, Flips RFA value

I disagree, there are alot of teams in this league right now where he would be in their top 4 forwards and would get 1st line pp time. I want him to stay with the Wing's obviously but I think if he went to a team who struggles to score goals they would give every chance to play top line minutes and top pp minutes to prove himself. I think he is a good top six forward for us with potential to be great but could be a great top six forward with alot of teams right now. They aren't in a terrible rush to force production with Flip, if he gets around 25 goals next year I think the Wing's would be more than happy with that. His progression would suggest that he very possibly could hit that plateau.

Some good news for Red Wings

WTf? first of all Flip is not going to get 4 million, but to suggest paying Rolston more than you would play Flip right now is just plain ignorant. Flip is 24 and has potential at the progression he's on to get 30 goals more than a few times. Rolston will have no chance of getting 30 goals on the Wings and probably only has a couple of years left in those legs. Priority number 1 is getting Flip signed and then they will go out and look for some other pieces.

Some good news for Red Wings

How about we start the season right now with the same team we finished with last year minus Dom and we win the cup again. That would be fun !!

Some good news for Red Wings

Source? I really find it hard to believe that the Wing's would be interested in Nilson !!

    Phoenix Coyotes

Unless the Canucks do something significant before next season there is a very good chance they could be the worst team in the west.

    Bouwmeester Wants out of Florida?

He is due for a big raise, he will get much much more that 3 million.

    Red Wings biggest challenge

We will have a slight Stanley Cup hangover and the Central will be close until xmas, and then we will start s*** pumping everyone as usual and win the division by 20pts, win the presidents trophy by 8pts over Pittsburgh, people will talk about some stupid presidents trophy curse and then realize we won it this year and went on to win the cup. We will move onto the playoffs and just like this year the media will pick everyone but us to win the cup and we will proceed to s*** can everyone in the playoffs and win our 2nd cup in a row and we will all be right back here wading through the 347 posts about who we need to pick up in the off season. Optimism or the truth? Time will tell.

    Phoenix Coyotes

If Breezy can stop about 40 shots a game between the pipes than they may have a shot at the playoffs. They are going to be fun to watch but they took a pretty big hit on defense when they traded away Ballard and Boynton. Maybe they have some interest in some free agent defensemen.

    Red Wings, little Drama

I was in no way comparing him to Z or Dats, thats a little far fetched. I was making the simple point that his progression has been very decent. I don't know where his ceiling will be for points but I like the pace he is on and I see no reason why he can't get 70-80 pts a season consistently with his speed, skill, and smarts for the game. For the sake of the franchise I hope they lock him up for 5 years at about 3.5 per and he goes nuts and gets 35 goals and 80 points next year and then we can talk about what a steal he is in the same way we talk about what a steal Z is.
  22. puckbags

    Red Wings, little Drama

Flip had 10 goals and 17 points in his first full season, 19 goals and 36 points in his second full season, there is no reason he can't get 25-30 goals and 50 -55 points this upcoming season, I don't know what kinda contract that gets you nowadays but I would suggest it would be 2.5-3 million for a short term contract and maybe a little more if he signs long term for like 5-6 years. Pretty good progression I would say for a 95th overall pick.

    Red Wings to carry enforcer.

This isn't a big suprise that they are going to carry Downey..they did it last year and it seems this year's situation will be no different. The only difference is that Downey won't see 56 games this year..he will be luck to see 40 with D-mac around. Downey will play 3-4 minutes a game and warm the end of the bench and when the very very very small chance comes that we let the other team piss us off he will pick the slivers out of his ass and pound on someone for entertainments sake and then go back to the bench and lay down a fresh towel so the next time he gets up off the bench he wont get slivers in his ass !!! This team as we saw in the playoffs is built around team toughness..guys sticking up for each other when the time comes, we did an excellent job in the regular season and especially in the playoffs of not letting teams lure us into that bulls*** and what it does is just piss them off more and more.

    Cory Stillman and Michael Ryder

Your post was good..I was just simply stating my dislike for Isbister. He's a pylon, big and orange and stationary !!
  25. puckbags

    Cory Stillman and Michael Ryder

Being from the west coast I watched Isbister play alot for the Canucks last year and to put it very nicely...HE IS F_CK_N (insert vowels as necessary) TRAGIC. If we didn't make a single move before the start of next season I would be ok with the team we have. Kenny isn't going to make a knee jerk reaction to sign someone just for s***s and giggles !!
