The fact that any of us are sitting here arguing/discussing Marchenko and Ericsson is pretty comical.

Have you been watching the games? Jensen has arguably been our best d man in the last 10 games which is exactly why they choose to keep him up after 9 games rather than send him down. At this moment I would play Jensen over DK in any situation. DK has been a bit better lately but has regressed so much this year.

I'm not going to defend E's play for a second, he's so inconsistent it drives me crazy but he has some value come trade deadline. He's a veteran, good teammate, big body, played for a great organzation and has played well at various times in his career. I would much rather find some team who is desperate try to trade for him and get something for him. . You may disagree but his value is higher than that of Marchenko's and he happened to be the odd man out. The 3 NHL ready young d men we have ( Jensen, Ouelette, Sproul ) are going to get a chance to play whether we are winning or not unless Holland is able to pull of some deadline moves to bring in a d man ( not holding my breath) . There is no one else in the organization in my opinion that is NHL ready. Onward...

You are aware that we have right handed d men right? Green is right handed, Jensen right handed, Sproul right handed. Stop using that as an excuse to make it sound like he had any value. His value was minimal, we had to put a guy on waivers. He was the guy, didn't work out. Stop over valuing marginal players. This has happend 5-6 times in the last 10 years and none of these waiver guys has ever panned out.

Exactly, his top end potential is very borderline 2nd pairing, most likely 3rd pairing guy. Hope he does well. It's funny how different organizations value players. Leafs think he's an upgrade over anyone on their 3rd pairing. Wings don't think he's good enough to be top 6. I think we are at 46/50 contracts now which would be great if we had cap space.

No word yet on whether he's been claimed..anyone know anything different?

There are lots of other guys I would prefer to be waived but these are also business decisions. Ericsson can hit the road as far as I'm concerned but someone would pick up him for sure . Lots of contending teams would take a veteran d man who could use a fresh start for a playoff run. His salary isn't as bad as people think and we would be on the hook for half of it for 3 years. I would rather seem him get traded and then we have no salary to cover. Wishful thinking. I'm just surprised he's lower on the totem pole than Sproul.

A team that is 2nd in the wild card fires a long term veteran coach and we sit dead last in the east, we have the highest payroll and we are forced to suffer through Blashill. The Wings are turning into some weird secret handshake club where everyone is giving and getting reach arounds to stay with this team.

Scapegoating? The guy has 0 goals. 0. He has been awful. It doesn't matter who the coach is. 0+0 =0, 0 x 0= 0 . He is just another one of the issues. Are you for real? Lidstrom played 10 years after Stevie Y retired. He won multiple norris trophy's and another Stanley Cup. Lidstrom doesn't hold the same weight as Yzerman did when it comes to the legacy but he was more than just a "part" of it.

It's kind of weird that he seemed so much stronger when he first came in the league. You would think a guy at his age with the use of all this state of the art equimpment would be stronger now than he was before. Maybe in college they had him on a " program"

The other issue here that Blashill is not realizing but not only do we need the 2 points we need the ROW's. We will never win any tiebreakers if we keep trying to win in shootouts.

I'm trying to figure out where Blashill thinks either of those guys would be effective 3 on 3. Z, Mantha, Green and then AA, Jensen, Nielsen and then Gus, Tats, Green again. It's not that hard.
