I totally agree with what your saying about Lebda, we also need to look at the amount of times that Lebs just takes the puck from behind our own net and uses his speed to skate it out of the zone by himself, its a big asset to have breakaway speed like that, especially against teams who are going to try and use the trap against us. The biggest thing I find with Lebda is that there are whole games where you barely notice him out there which for a non offensive d man is a very good thing!! I won't give out grades on everyone but I think our worst forward has been Sammy but as I said in another thread even if Sammy isn't scoring he is a good defensive forward. Lilja has been our worst d man which isnt saying much, they all have been really good as a group and picking the weakest links on this team at this point of the year is a pretty hard thing to do!!

You know what they say "to be the best, you have to beat the best"!! Can't wait for the game tommorow, hopefully it's as good as it's been hyped, it's strange to see Canada as the underdog but thats the way it should be, the US has been the best team in the tourney so far, GO CANADA GO!!

What you guys fail to realize is that Sammy as average as he's been offensively is a very good defensive forward which in Bab's system and our style of play is very important. We do lead the league in goals but this team still thinks defence first and uses it as transition to offence. Ryder doesn't even know where his own end of the ice is..he's brutal. And as for whoever mentioned Gratton, gimme a break, the guy is a suitcase, there is a reason he can't stay with the same team for more than 2 years at a time!! HE IS BRUTAL!!

I agree with your views on what toughness is. It's not about dropping the mitts all the time or throwing huge hits. Look at Homer, does he ever drop the gloves or throw big hits? no, I would consider him to be a very tough hard nosed player though. What about Z and Dats, they go into the corners and work their asses off every shift and usually come out of the corner with the puck on their stick against guys who are way bigger than them!! Opposing d men must be frustrated to hell they can't stop these guys. Do we need guys who will drop the gloves and throw big hits? of course we do but I look at it in an overall team toughness standpoint and how hard it is to play against our team and I think our chemistry and our players ability to trust one another on the ice is where our overall toughness comes from!! Acquiring some plugger like Ivanans is just useless, he isn't good enough to play our system and come playoff time he would just be eating popcorn in the press box!!

I agree, the sign of an excellent team is when they play bad one night and can bounce back the next night and dominate someone. We don't have too many off nights but its nice to know that when we do have one the streak usually ends at 1.

The guy was a fringe 3rd/4th liner when he was here and thats why he got traded. He was expendable. As for having him back now? No thanks, we have the best team chemistry in the league on this team and the last thing we need is for him to come in and create distractions!!

The only thing better than watching Roy act like a ***** that night was the fact I was watching in with a Habs fan!!!
-
Yep...that was ugly..tough night. I'm sure as hell glad we don't play games like that very often. Here's to a new year and another winning streak starting on Wednesday!! Have a good new year everyone and be safe, have fun and don't get arrested!!

A big 10 4 to all that stuff interminded said up above!! Thanks!!
-
Fair enough..thats your opinion..personally I wouldn't trade Lidstrom for both of them!!
-
He's the same guy who thought Kronwall should be the next captain!! On a serious note Samsanov is a joke, the only time in his career when he had consistent output is when he played with Thornton. I'm fat and out of shape and Thornton could probably get me a few goals if I stood in front of the net with my stick on the ice!!
-
I would have to disagree with you boss!! Hockey was on a sharp decline for years before the lockout!!
-
Their D crew is good...their top 3 look really good but I will take our 6 over their 6 any day. Lets compare our D lineups at this very moment : Lids, Rafalski, Niedermayer, Pronger are basically a saw off so lets move on I would have to say that Chelli, Lebda, Lilja, Kronner are much more solid than Scnheids, Francine Beachemin, Odonnell and Huskins. Thats just my opinion. They do have more skill on D but our chemistry and positional play is superior to their D. Jesus, O'Donnell is slower than Lilja!!

I hate to agree with your Vancouver pick but I do, with Bobby Lou between the pipes they will go as far as he can take them which could be a long ways. He can't lead them all the way but he can take them far. I watch them alot living in the west and the more I watch them the more I think Vigneault is possibly the best coach in this league. They are thin on talent past their first line and they have had multiple injuries this year but they find a way to make mix and match lineups work. I think Ottawa's situation is very similar to ours, great lineup throughout and both teams goaltending has been good but will the goaltending hold up when it counts!!

The luxury of getting off to a tremendous start and having a 19 pt lead in the division. Z can rest, rest, rest until he and the doctors are good and damn well sure that his back is good to go!! Wing's win 6-1 and I say we go over the 50 shot mark tommorow night!!

I hope you were kidding!!

Did he call him a *** f***** at the end?

WINGS - 5 (Z X2, LIDS, DOWNEY , SAMMY) COILERS -3 (HORCOFF, SOURAY, PENNER) We do not want to go to a shootout with these guys, they are deadly!!
-
Slightly worried about what? Beating the Oilers? We are the best team in the league by a longshot right now for a reason, we are deep, we have great chemistry, Homer will be missed and hopefully he's not out long but being worried about the Oilers is a non issue. If we lost to the Coilers it's because we played a s***ty game not because of injuries!!
-
The sign of a good team is when they can win when they play bad, we didn't play very good tonight but its another W.
-
Call me a homer but I would have Z in the top 5 stickhandlers for sure!!
-
Amen brother, good post
-
I have Vinny, Lids, and Z on my fantasy team, Wing's win 9-7 and I don't have to tell you who I want to score the goals!!
-
I dont think this has been posted yet, Hartnell and the Flyer's with another cheap shot tonight against the Bruins, the same team they had the last incident with!! Albers from the Bruins was along the boards and on his knees trying to play the puck with his glove on a short hop and Hartnell came across and stoved his head into the dasher. He knew exactly what he was doing and took a cheap shot on a guy who was very defenseless. Hartnell needs to be suspended and taught a lesson, it's just a joke to hit a guy when his head is paralell to the dasher. Bruins' Alberts leaves after head shot

Screw the crutches boss..just carry 3 stanley cups over your head!!!
