Being on the west coast I know that 3 or 4 Canucks preseason games are on the tube on sportsnet. I imagine that Oilers, Flames, Senators games will also be one if you are in those regional areas or have a satellite.

I agree, I think Sopel will fit in good with this team, he's a good puck mover and knows when to jump into the play. He does have a tendency to give the puck up but I definetely think the upside out weighs the down side.

When trade deadline time comes and we need a guy we definetely have some bait on defence(young and old) that we could use to pick someone up!!

I don't really think it has made a whole lot of difference.. it forced the goalies to read the play better which the good ones do anyway. Now they just stop the puck in front of the goal line before it goes in the corner. It did force the big slow d-men to get back quicker knowing that their goalie can't bail them out everytime!!

You will notice a huge difference when you play in a league for money. I've been in a league on CBS sportsline and we have 12 guys who pony up 60 bucks a piece for the season. Our transaction are fees are a flat 1 dollar for picking up waiver wire guy or for a trade. The winner got 500 dollars for winning last year..not a bad return on investment if you win. CBS runs a good show and is easy to use. You will find with money leagues that guy's don't take a day off and pay very close attention to what's going on!!

So Cammalleri scores 34 goals and gets 80 pts last year and an arbitrator only awards him 6.7 for two years, 3.6 and 3.1 for the next two years. Penner who is basically the same age had 29 goals and 45 pts gets 4+ million a year. Isn't it the arbirtrator's job to give a guy fair market price? If that is the case the guy who did Cammalleri's case must've been drunk or something!!

Fair enough.. i see what you're getting at with Roy but I mean Cammalleri had 80 pts, 16ppg, 37 pp pts, he was a plus 5 on a rancid defensive team. He doesn't play to his small stature at all. All i'm saying is if arbitrator's are supposed to use other players as a comparison to figure out what a guy should make then Cammalleri should have gotten a better shake.

Thats what i don't understand..if he wanted 6million a year and they were offering 2.6 million a year I figured with the kind of year that he had that they might meet somewhere close to the middle which would be about 4.3 million. He can't be happy with the fact the King's think he is only worth 2.6 million.

Is he just supposed to decline his option to play with Lids, "sorry Babs, I don't want to play with Lids, he is too good and I might have too good of a year and then people will think I only play good with him and then I will want too much money". Some guys made careers out of playing with good players, do you think Jari Kurri would have scored as many goals in his career if he played with anyone besides Gretz? I doubt it. Coaches put a certain player with a better player to try and make them better which is exactly what happened with Markov. It worked, Markov had a very good mistake free year and he and all the fans should be happy he played with Lids because in the long run it made our team better!! His 4 million dollar demand is a little out of line but not that much. I wouldn't be suprised to see him sign a deal for 2-3 years that averages about 3.5 but sees him make close to 4 in the first year. In the new CBA can players renegotiate a new contract before they are in their last year of their remaining contract? I ask because of Z"s contract, its quite obvious he is the biggest bargain in the league right now and I was wondering if management could offer him a contract this year or if they have to wait until next year to re-sign him before he becomes a UFA.

This place is hillarious...its such a pile of sour grapes it makes me sick..Brian Burke is hands down the best GM in this league and he will get himself out of this pickle and again as much as it pains me to say he will have the Ducks contending again next year. He turned a s***ty team in Vancouver to more than respectable and who knows what else he would've done there if they didn't make the worst gm firing i have ever seen. He turned the Ducks into a cup champ simple as that. Pronger goons one of our guys in the playoffs and all of a sudden the Ducks and Burke have become the worst of the worst.. Suck it up people they beat our ass. Pronger is a f*** get over it!! I got to see Burke interviews day in and day out living on the west coast when he was in Vancouver and believe me I would rather have a GM with some balls who call people out and tell it like it is than most of GM's in this league who are behind the desk ******* zombies. If the situation was the other way around and they were going after one of our RFA"s it would be so different and no one here can deny it. Lowe is well within in the rules but Burke telling him how he feels and laying down the facts about it is what a good GM should do!! He will defend his players until the end and you can't tell me it wouldn't be nice to have a GM who would do that!!

Obviously what Lowe is doing is well within the rules but the problem i have with it is the fact that he is driving the market prices way up which in the long run will effect every team in this league. Penner is a great young player but he is not worth 4-4.5 milliion a year. What this is going to do now is make players who are in the same skill set as Penner want his kind of money when they are FA's which in turn screws everything up. I think it's funny how pre lock out the Oilers were the biggest whiners about how they couldn't compete in a free market and now that there is a cap in place they are the ones who are blowing it out of control!! As for Burke... he is one of the smartest minds with the biggest balls in this league and like him or not he will figure it out and as much as it pains me to say it the Ducks will be right up there next year again!! Was 4 million too high for Bert? Hell yeah.. I think a bag of pucks was too much for him but if anyone is going to be able to get the most out of him it will be Burke and the Ducks if he stays healthy. As for people saying they feel sorry for Lowe because he can't get players to come there... I think this is a load of crap..there has to be a deeper lying problem ( ie. Mactavish, Lowe, owners) than the fact that guys just don't want to play there..it is a great hockey city with great fans they sell out every game and love their team and who may have a new owner in place to make things even better. Rumors spread from player to player like herpes in a Mexican ***** house in the NHL and I think the word is out that somewhere in upper management is the reason no one wants to play there!! It really can be the only logical reason!!

Burke already said earlier in the offseason that he would match any offer made to Penner..lets see if he can back it up!!
