I think we all wish they could've gotten the points in a different fashion with buzzer beaters and barely beating 2 of the 3 teams but in the grand scheme of things, can't complain too much about 5 of 6 points on a western trip, even though they played bad overall against one fo the worst teams in the league in that process.

And pretty much everybody in here is in agreement that his play overall hasn't been good this year and giving kudos to Howard for taking the job and running with it when Osgood was out with the flu. The Wings unfortuntaely don't have the luxury this year of comfortably being in the playoffs way ahead of time and giving both goalies roughly equal starts to sort out any kinks. Could Osgood have helped more in that regard? Sure, but there were other factors like an absurd amount of injuries. That doesn't make Osgood any less of a goaltender, and that article link is a great example of it.

Until Howard just completely s**ts the bed with inconsistent play, he stays in more often than not. I'm a bit surprised to not see Osgood play one of these two, but the Wings are not in a posiiton to where they can play both goalies for playoff positioning. They need points, and they need them now. Jimmy Howard basically took the job and ran with it when Osgood was down with the flu. He hasn't given any reason to not be taken out right now and hasn't shown any signs of wearing out or whatever. Bless Osgood's heart, I love him, but the Red Wings don't have time to be fair to Osgood right now or play him just because he should play or Osgood's ego or whatever.

Could just as easily make it as well as miss it. It's about 50-50 right now. In an 80+ game season, you're going to lose a game here and there to a bottom feeder team in the conference, I don't care how good or bad of a team you are. I don't like that it happens but it is inevitable sometimes.

I'm not one to read headlines or press stories with a fine tooth comb all that much so others in here could probably go into detail better than me, but yes I have read about this before coming from Marc Crawford.

Wow, there were 4 available clips to watch on TSN so I'm not sure if I missed anything. Was able to tune in at work. I still wish Lemieux would've apologized to Draper with a call or whatever for the big hit, but I understand his reasoning in terms of when somebody gets injured and the like. I still think there's a fine line in a game to where you have to let up to not injure somebody, whether you mean to or not. That'll probably be something from this interview that Lemieux and myself won't ever see eye-to-eye on. He's certainly got a lot of cojones, and from this you understand he'll probably always man up to get things resolved if people have a problem with him. I think also many people forget that while Draper-Lemieux was probably the most dramatic incident, Kozlov-Foote got it all started earlier that series, so I understand the angle Lemieux took to seek "revenge" on him and the like. Not sure if that could've been taken care of better/differently, but whatever. An absolutely great segment by both McCarty and Lemieux about all the incidents and how some rules today really need to be changed up.

I don't even want to hear it or read it from him as their standards of enforcing/suspensions are such a joke and so inconsistent (not giving you crap for posting this as it's the place to discuss it obviously). This is just another example.

Will have to listen to it later as I'm pressed for time. There are certain things that are "a part of the game", and unfortuatnely perhaps even Lemieux's hit on Draper to a degree, I'll give him that, but you're spot on pretty much. Even if you didn't mean to hurt somebody, if you really did mess them up, check on them, give them a phone call saying you are sorry for things getting this bad, visit, etc.

Ah. I haven't looked for anything on it from YouTube, and skimming NHL Network on TV early this morning at the gym I didn't see anything on it, so I don't know what was said or not during the interview. If this is the case, I'll take that as some form of an apology towards Draper, albeit indirectly.

Pitiful. This deserved a suspension, but not that much. I will always love watching hockey, but rules/enforcement of suspension and the like are such a joke in the NHL. They are consistent with being inconsistent regarding this crap.
